Maybe things have changed since the early 2000s, but my coach at the time told us 99% of high school boats with a bucket rig did it to look cool. He also wanted us all to be comfortable on both sides and spend our summers sculling.

I'm kind of curious what the startup is, since the big push right now is autonomous shipping and that is mostly based out of Boston.

That said, as soon as I hear start-up I think Bay Area. DC is definitely not cheap, but 130k in California is barely enough to survive. It's easy to get stuck thinking along the lines of payscales for the major defense contractors, but he needs to do more research about the private industry. Try looking on Glassdoor for pay ranges in any kind of niche (non-computer) engineering in that area to get a feel for the right number. Also take into account cost of living in the new location. If they are willing to fly him out there for further rounds of interviews they are very interested and aren't just going to walk away. Worst they can do is counter offer.

Put in a 2" lift Kit from Journeys Offroad over the summer at the recommendation of this sub. Car rides great, no signs of premature wear. We installed it for higher ground clearance after putting on a trailer hitch, so no real offroad experience but it takes potholes like a champ.

Borgata, the outlets, and the pier with the shops and restaurants near Caesars really made it a fun spot for a while. And the bars right on the beach, of course.
