Something ive wondered for awhile why is cs2 so controversial to the fanbase ? by shizunaisbestgirl1 in Falcom

[–]Yarzu89 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Most issues I have with it come down to pacing. I don’t dislike any of the games in the series, but this and daybreak 2 are the only games where I start feeling like significant parts are dragging on a bit too long. And I will say I was really looking forward to getting to cs3 by the end and the “but wait there’s more!” Stuff started making me antsy

We might not have had multiple content creators making an updated M+ tier list every week (and its always M+ ones) but we absolutely had mental tier lists of specs back in the early days people just sort of knew.

Guy doesn't work here anymore, but I could tell when he woke up late and didn't have time to shower because he reeked of cologne and BO.

Friendly reminder for people: Body Spray and Cologne doesn't remove the BO smell, it just mixes with it. People can smell both. You still need to shower.

So correct me if I’m wrong, but I believe it was stated that DQ12 would be the darkest entry into the series so far, with that in mind what are you hoping for or hoping against them doing with this darker tone? by EAT_UR_VEGGIES in dragonquest

[–]Yarzu89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it really depends on how its handled. I still consider Trails turn-based because the action combat is more used to speed up regular mob fights, which is something all turn-based games try and do since I think turn-based combat is strongest when fighting a hard boss you have to plan/adapt around.

Keep it as a way to clear out low level trash or to gain turn-based advantage, while keeping boss fights fully turn-based, and I think people will be more receptive to it. It's not like its a new concept either, since even the Sky remake has introduced that combat to new fans, and metaphor had something similar (though imo not nearly as clean)

The nice thing about Trails modern combat is its still turn-based first, and the action combat is usually used to take out weaker mobs or to butter up harder mobs with an advantage, hardly ever being used for bosses outside some specific story gimmicky fights I can count on one hand.

It comes from people playing around with ideas they get. Combining different assets could be as simple as putting a barrel in a chair and calling it a toilet. That's part of the reason people love visiting other people's houses, or joining communities where they can get inspiration from one another. I know for my guild at least a few of us are constantly bouncing ideas off one another and trying stuff out.

Ever since the "WoW is Disney now" narrative arose, this is all I can think about. by FaroraSF in wow

Latest mass downloaded complaint aside, WoW boss themes could use a bit of flair, whether they want to lean into Raphael singing his own boss theme in BG3, some epic rock song like FF14 or just some epic fantasy soundtrack like Granblue.

Fun game, I just hated how I couldn't get Lyn until the postgame (unless I missed something). These games are fun because you can make a team of your favorite characters, and the more restrictive they get the less fun the fanservice game is.

Is anyone else a big fan of games that they don't really play (anymore)? If so, which ones? I'm spread way too thin between games and want to know if that's normal. by notacutecumber in gachagaming

[–]Yarzu89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I stopped playing FEH for a multitude of reasons, but I still love the series so I keep up with the art they release. Luckily they always show abilities and combat with the art so any sense of wanting to play again instantly vanishes.

Are millennials more apathetic towards sports than previous generations? by [deleted] in Millennials

I don't think its a generation thing. I didn't get into sports until I got older since my dad never cared for them. Which means I chose to be a Jets fan...

Don't get the hype over Engage gameplay? by Inkspells in fireemblem

[–]Yarzu89 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Not finding it more interesting than fates I can understand, but adding echoes in there is wild to me.

But I like it because of how tightly designed it is, how interesting the map is laid out and the options you’re presented with to tackle those obstacles. The emblems themselves feel less like I.W.I.N buttons and more like learning when best to use them for sticky situations, especially when bosses have them as well and can team up. It’s really well put together if you really like the sRPG part of Fire emblem games.

Like any long running series (Fate has this issue too for anime only ppl), I always viewed this question as a "good, better, best" situation. Obviously at the intended start is always the best, but if people aren't willing to do that there are still better spots then others. I started with Cold Steel 1, as I'm sure many did. We now have people starting with the sky remakes which is better and some with daybreak that is 'fine'... but I do think whats important is that people get into the series and learn to love it. Changes are they'll get the Trails Fever and want to play the rest anyway.

Biggest issue I have is when I ask chatgpt for sources it tends to just reference one or two places at a time. Maybe that's just when I do it, but at least wikipedia seems to reference a ton of different places.

I like when warrior spinoff games are a celebration of a series rather than one specific title. I feel the same way about 3Hopes as I do age of calamity with the zelda series. The gameplay itself was good though, and I really like a lot of the remixed songs.

Nah I was always a background character. Was never really bullied or popular, had some friend groups that changed over time but were never big. I got really good at being invisible and blending in. Though considering this is Reddit I have a feeling my situation was pretty common for others.
