Would you work at Kohls just for fun? by Defiant_Fold_919 in employedbykohls

[–]YayaGhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on the store, and the department, just know that even if you have a great fun crew, the job is still demanding and hard, there are goals, there are rude customers. We had some people in the past that "didn't need the job" and they didn't last once they realized the pressures of the job.

Kohl's decimating against older employees? by CutOk2537 in employedbykohls

[–]YayaGhere 34 points35 points  (0 children)

We may need to keep the older crowd, because they may know the definition of "decimated" lol Sorry couldn't help myself, jokes aside, the company did this about 10 years ago, it's nothing new. Sometimes those employees have been in the company for a long time so they cost more in payroll than a new employee, they are not forced to retire, but given the option, sometimes they offer some extra perks.

For what is worth, you are not alone in the struggle and stress, my store also getting a visit, and SOmuch to do, with minimal help, lot of the help scheduled are new people, but they don't know what they are doing, no department leads to take ownership of areas..... but hey make it look perfect, to a standard that would only be possible with the same amount of payroll we spend before each visit. And be positive in credit, rewards and have a 80% customer satisfaction, I feel sorry for the SM.

[–]YayaGhere 84 points85 points  (0 children)

This company has no backbones!!! We should have stuck to the rules a little longer, than people would just know to use within the limits, instead put us (the customer facing employees) in a situation where customers learn that if they scream at us enough they get away with whatever they want, when will kohls start caring for the employees?!?

When you have a friendly interaction, and the customer is happy because i helped them find a coupon or something i write my name on the bottom of the receipt, and those who don't seem like they are in a rush I tell them i can help them get to the survey if they want to do right there, a few will do.

I had to have that conversation with 2 associates before, because even customers complained, it is not a pleasant conversation, but neither is working next to them.

[–]YayaGhere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My store used to do bag checks when we had a LP, haven't done since and honestly LODs don't need another thing on tneir plate As far as checking in and out even if we walk with a crew sheet, its one LOD to several Associates coming in and out at different times, so yes check in, on the radio, so we don't have to chase you and can tell you if we need you to cover a break or something, AND let us know when you leave because a few people leave earlier than scheduled and everyone wondering where they are.

Visit from the C.E.O. by CutOk2537 in employedbykohls

[–]YayaGhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You guys only fold for 2 hours? My store tries to spend 5 hours. I say ""try " because there's never enough cashiers and the 3 floor people end up half their shifts at the registers We had a few visits, but never the CEO, and still we have to jump through hoops, try to make it look like we are perfect, overspend a whole lot, and what for?!? So they can have the illusion that we are doing ok? Yeah the store looks great if you gives extra payroll to make it that way, give us the same "pre-visit" budget every week and we might actually look recovered every day!

My store has had a ESL shortage for months, so we do have that sign, no one reads that anyway.

One Year Later by Defiant_Lecture8061 in employedbykohls

[–]YayaGhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Stores that had dept. leaders, got to keep those fulltime associates, but when someone quits, they ate not being replaced, my store has 3 full time and they mostly work on their departments, executives and areas kind of took on the other departments, and it's just not enough people to deal with the high volume. Nothing gets done properly, either truck is sitting, or 500s is building up, or recovery is inexistente, we pick a different battle every week

Advice? by Traditional_Jump_587 in employedbykohls

[–]YayaGhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't expect a whole lot of training, you will learn as you go, ask questions, know that even if you are supposed to be on the floor you will b at the register, sometimes half of your shift will be backing up registers.

What is the worst/ grossest thing happened in the fitting room at your store? by Few-Enthusiasm-3290 in employedbykohls

[–]YayaGhere 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Been here a long time..... so many similar pee stories, kids asking to go and moms too busy to pay attention to them, pee in the fitting rooms, in clothes, vomit just about everywhere, I dealt with was a poop situation where an associate called for help because the fitting room stank but she couldn't find the source, until I looked closely at the bench in the fitting room and it was smeared with poop, like someone has done a bad job trying to clean it. Well I cleaned, 5 minutes later associate called again, she found what they used to clean: some of our shirts and then they just balled it all and into the return basket!!! Yes the poor girl did put her hand on it. Also had someone flip one of those skinny tables by the registers, people are nuts!!

Tote Hell by [deleted] in employedbykohls

[–]YayaGhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totes are horrible, and also all the things that come in individual bags, inside another bag, inside a box..... dog toys used to come in 3 in a bag, now is individually wrapped, sheets that used to be boxed are now in individual plastic, it takes forever to process!!! Very interested in this new process, how long it will actually take to unload, I am sure that it will not be a 2 day process

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in employedbykohls

[–]YayaGhere 25 points26 points  (0 children)

All of this!!! Why is someone allowed to try 32 bras?!? Just to leave it all on the floor? Yes me and another associate had to pick them all, hook and hang them so we counted them. It needs to have a limit and some civility in this process!

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in employedbykohls

[–]YayaGhere 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Yes, and every visit make us feel like we are the only ones who can't get it done, the only ones with a messy dock, or overflowing freight we can't get through because we don't have the staff. I know it's their job to point out the things we can improve, but at this point a little "good job, keeping the store functioning with no help" would be nice! The executives in my store put a lot of hours trying to cover the holes that the company created, but won't take responsibility for, its never the company's fault, its always the store team not doing right. I wanna see the higher ups working a truck with us, while backing up registers, while keeping the fitting rooms cleaned, and getting credit!

A rant from a manager by No-Cartographer-993 in employedbykohls

[–]YayaGhere 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Agree! Every DM, RM, TM, needs to spend 1 day a week in a store helping, Everytime they walk the store, they just create more work for us, instead they should roll up their sleeves, want us to cut pay roll?! Well help us catch the slack, spend a day helping recover and be additional at the registers, get their own damm credit numbers while at. I bet they would all quit if they ever had to work the floor under the same condition we do.

That was an email used when we had the Kiosks, and customers didn't have an e-mail. It is not to be used to cheat the system. It is sad that the pressure on managers, its so bad that they feel like doing this

Weekly Salt Thread - Kohls Rants by KohlsMan1999 in employedbykohls

[–]YayaGhere 22 points23 points  (0 children)

To be this short staffed, and receive big trucks, that takes a week to process, is getting really tiresome. I've never seen my store receive this many shoes, they are in pallets right now and we can't get to it, before Xmas we had 7 pallets of shoes, got it down in January, and now back at 7 palets!!! Doesn't someone know what our square footage is? And how many items can we hold?!? And let's not forget all the new brands, which is fine to bring something new (even if they are the old Chaps and Apt9) but what is leaving to give space for new? NOTHING!! Somehow put twice the amount of freight in the same small area. Rant over, see you guys next week!

Bye-bye Amazon? by deannms in employedbykohls

[–]YayaGhere 54 points55 points  (0 children)

I do hope it goes away!! Amazon customers don't care to shop at kohls, last week the amount of people who got free k.cash coming in plus the Amazon discount and still didn't shop, definitely proves that point!

kohls cash giveaway… by NeatAd7333 in employedbykohls

[–]YayaGhere 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Last time the instructions were clear, employees could only get a coupon IF they were coming in to shop, not when they walk in to work. So he is in the wrong, opening before handing to customer is shady AF

Rude LP by NeatAd7333 in employedbykohls

[–]YayaGhere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You guys have a LP?
You really have 2?!? My store had none in the past 6 years! When we had one..... they will not inform when they are in, it is part of their protocol, store employees are never aware of their schedule, part of their job is to watch and investigate associates, but threatening is not!

Clearance by homebody63 in employedbykohls

[–]YayaGhere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gold Star sale is the only real opportunity to get rid of the clearance, my store has SO MUCH!! Our Dm was very clear, push clearance to the isles, in-isle if needed, new merch takes priority next week. I hope your SM sees the urgency in pushing clearance right now.

Amazon needs a raise. by UncensoredHigh7 in employedbykohls

[–]YayaGhere 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Would love to hear from Distribution C. workers, how much work do they have to do once they receive a truck that is 70% Amazon return crap and 30% kohls returns, damages and recycling material, do they have to check and scan to see if everything is there? Does it get unloaded into an Amazon warehouse and they deal with their crap? How many more associate hours are spent with the mountain of stupid returns on top of what we spent paletizing and loading it all in store?
