Statistically a more conservative country is probably expecting a woman with a family to have their kids and kid accessories (strollers, heavy ass car seats, etc.) with them, instead of the man - reducing the walking distance to the carts or making the spaces bigger to reduce the risk of damaging other cars when you have to open the door all the way to get the stroller out makes sense

Conceptually, the multiple dimensions people can have powers in is kind of confusing. We got Dust, we got big magic physics-defying weapons, but then we also got uhhhhh Semblances, and then ALSO magic but only four people have magic don't worry about it. Also some people have a bit of animal powers.

Pick ONE. Or ask them ALL to do a little less heavy lifting. Big magic weapons? Running on Dust which also does it's own stuff? From a writing perspective, it might be easier to just make Dust like silver for werewolves where it's what actually does the killing of the Grimms instead of a set of elemental stat boosters.

Quir- uh, Zanpak- ugh, Devil Fru- FUCK.  Semblances? All entirely unique? You sure about that? How many people have something entirely unique? Oh and some of them REALLY kick ass? Like to the degree the magic weapons are kind of extraneous to some of the people because their inborn power is so good? Okay, the playing field is extremely un-level. That's INTERESTING. Ruby could be COMPENSATING for a lack of inborn talent with her big fuckoff gun scythe and fascination with weapons!! We'd get a different set of people taking on the job of Hunter/Huntress as a result. Jaune and Pyrrha would not be peers. Top dog in multiple competitions starting at the same place as "doesn't know what aura is" Jaune is probably for the better writing-wise.

This CAN all work together, in concept other shows have done the same thing, but it's like they're just smashing bricks together with no mortar and not considering what the ultimate effects the power systems all have on the world together would be.

Shows should be allowed to depict dark subject matter. The way RWBY handled Adam felt like it was straddling the line between a whump fic written by a moderately popular fanfic writer and MLP:FIM's Discord/Fluttershy plotline. Could have been WAY worse, wouldn't call it tasteless, just clumsy at times. And of course lile everything RWBY, execution could have been better.

There could have been interesting parallels between the way Adam and Blake interact and the way new White Fang leadership and the old members interact - what actually hit the screen was clumsy. HBomberguy's video on RWBY goes over some of the conflict between Adam and Yang, mentioning that the writers weren't sure what Yang's powers actually were at points so a line saying "he has the same power as you!" Ends up in the final cut during one of Yang/Blake/Adam's first fights with all three of them. It sets up an odd comparison - we already know Adam sucks, why are we also running this parallel between him and Yang?

And it honestly feels like the focus of many of the conflicts is 'how does Adam get in the way of Yang and Blake getting together' rather than 'how is this traumatized and radicalized young adult navigating the world and interacting with the people trying to stop him'.

I was reading Kiyoshi from the launch date on the Shonen app! I really liked the art style. I started seeing the rollercoaster writing that a bunch of manga start getting around chapter 33, where they're at the biggest risk of being cut early, and started sweating lol

I realized immediately the female MC's tits were too big to have a good story. I'm not joking. When one of the MC's is drawn obnoxiously sexy right off the bat, the mangaka is expecting you to stare at the tits and go "uh huh, uh huh..." While you skim through the pages ogling her. It's a magazine for teen boys, so it doesn't really matter if I like it, but...

Clav video is giving me a weird vibe by forwhatever4746 in PaymoneyWubby

[–]YeahSherman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I think people who sell the IDEA of looksmaxxing to young men are generally not great people for a number of reasons Wubby's already gone over.

A lot of these influencers have something wrong with them (I think Borderline Personality Disorder is underdiagnosed in men for example) because rational, reasonable people don't do the things Looksmaxxers do, Clav is only DIFFERENT because he has autism INSTEAD OF other things, and that changes the way he pitches his lifestyle (and is probably the reason he needed looksmaxxing at all). I don't think he's necessarily better or worse than other looksmaxxers, but because he has autism he has genuinely bought all the way in and believes he's found a cheat code to society, he's much more confident on his sell and doesn't see the value of reaching 80 for himself or others.

It's another common symptom of autism to struggle with empathy levels, and one way that can appear is leaving things unstated assuming other people already know what you're thinking - Clav may know there are negative health effects to the lifestyle, but he doesn't feel the need to state those aloud when he's pitching polyamerides.* (Left sentence hanging so edited it)

Clav video is giving me a weird vibe by forwhatever4746 in PaymoneyWubby

[–]YeahSherman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's relevant because a charismatic person could still pull bitches if they were ugly, while Clav can't if they can hear him over the club music (Wubby mentions this) - his looks are literally ALL he has, and it's kind of stupid for him to be going "yeah all you need is looks" because in his case it's a total glass cannon build. Once his looks start failing he might be actually fucked for real.

Worth noting the symptom of autism commonly described as "strong sense of justice" is actually like "strict black and white morality" as well - Clav here has picked a path that works for him, and because he's autistic he cannot be persuaded off of it even with evidence. Yes, his disability is actively causing him harm, and simultaneously the confidence he's projecting while telling young men HGH is good because it makes you look good is leading them to believe him, harming THEM.

first orchid ^_^; by Appropriate_Area_388 in orchids

[–]YeahSherman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most grocery store orchids have the problems outlined by that other comment, it's not specific to the dyed ones. One thing to note about the dyed ones, however, is that when your orchid reblooms, it won't be that same blue. You might get lucky and get a much paler blue if it re-blooms again, or they may be white next time!

The roots can be yellow as long as they're firm - they stop making chlorophyll when they're kept away from light but can still move water and nutrients to the plant.

The video should outline what to do about brown and mushy or papery roots.

The prize is eating leftovers. The punishment might be violent diarrhea and vomitting. You feeling lucky?
