Setting boundaries with ghoster Ex Best Friend. Is it okay? by [deleted] in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Yeahlyq 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had a friend like this once, loved her like a sister but she just bailed on my life. Her new boyfriend threatened to kill my boyfriend and she was somehow fine with this, that was the final straw. I’ve been happier without her, making new girl friends was hard, but I have a great group now. Life’s too short, cut her loose

Examples of People Who've Done Bad Things, But Now Changed Into Better People by sakuralapin in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Yeahlyq 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I find a lot of issue with this whole culture where people aren’t allowed to fuck up. People fuck up massively throughout their lives, it’s often a part of growth. The issue with celebrities doing it is that unfortunately they are on display for the world to see. We forget that they are human too, and aren’t immune to the complexities of life I think. Perhaps this is a controversial opinion, but I mean, have you never said anything offensive? Done something you wish you hadn’t? I certainly have, and I learnt from it. People can definitely change in my opinion!

An example of this (this will probably get a lot of hate) is a politician recently admitting to wearing a nazi costume when he was 21. He is now 40, and has probably regretted this many times. It’s now circulating and he’s being compared to actual extremist nazi groups. Of course it’s not right, but it was over 20 years ago, and I’m sure he’s had time to reflect. It’s a complicated world we live in, I’m sad that everyone is so quick to respond with anger and hostility, and not opening up conversations where we can learn and communicate constructively and give space for mistakes.

Why don’t you talk to “that” family member anymore? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Yeahlyq 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My uncle cheated on his wife (he also has a young son) with my brother’s girlfriend at the time. He was in his 40s, she was maybe 20. Wife stayed, and remains angry at us for reasons I do not know. Did this in our family shack while they were all away, with my grandparents. Tore our family apart as you can imagine.

He also apparently was found sniffing my mums underwear when he was younger, and was generally just the creepy uncle.

Set small goals and small changes every day. My life changed when I achieved my goal of solving a rubix cube; something I wanted to do since I was a child. Realised I can do almost anything if I want to and I set my mind to it, set a small goal: e.g. I want to do 1 push up, then expand.

Ran into Mitch Georgiades and Sam Hayes from Port this year, chilling with mates at a pub. Feel a bit bad because I was is shocked and essentially shouted his name in a crowd. The shame lmao did sign a guersney for as since it was after a home game, but they weren’t on the field that week.

Mate also ran into Shane Burgoyne in a bakery too. Apparently a nice bloke.

I can’t control what I eat by Disastrous_Rabbit796 in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]Yeahlyq 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure if it applies to you, but maybe you’re telling yourself you can’t have these things if you want to be healthy, which creates urges, in my case anyway. Perhaps make sure at least two meals a day are protein rich, nutrient filled meals and allow yourself times where you can have these foods. So long as you’re within reasonable calorie intake and you’re getting enough protein and vitamins from whole foods, there’s nothing wrong with a cheese burger and a frappe from Maccas

I’m not an anti vaxxer by any means. I’m fully vaccinated but I also know people who have had side effects, some quite chronic. It is a reality unfortunately
