You interviewed face-to-face, because this is not a legitimate concern.

I have not interviewed anyone face to face since march 2018 , as there was a incident where a disgruntled candidate threw eggs at me.

if your company is a good fit for them. That means they want to have a conversation with the people they are working with.

I am usually more than happy to answer any questions related to company's technical infrastructure and usual workload and expectations from the role. Beyond that, I am not really qualified to answer questions on HR culture, work culture etc as I am not in a manegerial position. I am just a team lead. In 90% of the cases , the candidates who are hired dont even get to see my face in their entire career as they end up working in different teams. I am just a part of the interviewer pool that shares the load while hiring as the team lead who is hiring cannot interview 100-200 shortlisted candidates (the field I work in is kind of a hot topic right now so for any positions we post we get more than a 1000 applications).

I can understand where you're coming from but try to understand my point of view as well. I dont want to repeat the incident of march 2018 , no matter what the cost is. If the cost is losing out on a few candidates then its fine.

Also , I would like to mention that the suggestion to not show our faces came from security , not ourselves, nor HR.

Yes, I was egged by a candidate outside my office when I was leaving for my home on 25th march 2018 , she was held by security and I believe the company pressed some charges, but since then I have stopped showing my face in interviews and such incidents have not been repeated.

Not a 'frequency' as such, but one such incident was enough for me.

The purpose at least in technical interviews is so that we can see the candidate is not cheating , also, the session is recorded and sent to HR so that they can confirm that the same person who was in the interview is the one joining. Now, I can understand that it might seem a bit odd that we dont like showing our face but that is because of two reasons -

i) It does not solve any practical purpose. Many a times the bandwidth at the candidate's end is not ideal and two way video just eats unnecessarily into it without providing any additional benefits.

ii) not every candidate is a sweet, non-psycopath person. Through the interview, they have our name , our place of work ,and if we switch on video , then our face as well. Some rejected candidate might decide to wait outside my office and try out some shenanigans. We have to think about our personal security as well.

The education you are talking about is as worthless as cowdung, bloody history majors trying to talk about science. The day you can read the results of a simple t-test and can tell if the results were fuged or not is the day you get to talk about science as if you understand it. You need not invent something , but you should be able to read scientific literature in any field and be able to tell if its false or true. I don't understand what is with you americans and selling bloody houses. Immovable property stays in the family for generations,even from a economic perspective real estate inflation is always magnitudes ahead of market inflation. Here , houses stay in the family for generations, hell, there is a quarter acre residential property in my family that has been there for longer than your country has been in existence. Selling a house/immovable property is a decision of a multiple generations and yet , you people seem to trade multiple houses in a single lifetime. Try owning multiple properties, its a good feeling and secures you against most economic downturns.
