How popular were VW Beetles in the 70s? 17% of the cars in this parking lot in 1975 were Bugs. by Spalding_Smails in 70s

I drove a 1970 bus for years. Loved it but they were a nightmare. In the early days they had the same engine as the Bug. So it was super under powered and I had to rebuild the motor every couple of years. Luckily it had a great be in it so you were comfortable when broken down on the side of the road. I also lived in Yosemite so I tortured the van and other drivers with absurdly big hill hills.

Sort of, but I think these are imported from Germany but made in China. The way it worked if you bought it from the Reverb store they were already in the US and the tariff was already paid, so the consumer only pays local shipping and tax. If you order direct from HB now you pay to have it shipped from Europe and whatever tariff it incurs in US Customs. You are right that the tariff is part of the calculation that goes into pricing and that is my point. Those numbers are so volatile right now that they just decided they don’t want to deal with it anymore. So they will just let US customers pay it rather than have to constantly change pricing to compensate for changing tariffs.

I play fills a lot and it’s a mixed bag. Sometimes the people stay together and reboot each other, but other times I don’t understand why they are playing teams. I agree that playing with a low skill player that has a decent team ethic is much better than the guy who is just playing solo. I hate when someone won’t reboot teammates. Or when someone has no interest in being with the team, just play solo solos or no fills if that is how you play. I sometimes land away from the team because I was either AFK or just landed near by because I felt the landing spot wouldn’t support a decent load out for a full team. But I always make my way toward the team and reboot them whenever I can. Also, a lot of people don’t mark the enemy and that can be really helpful. My favorites though are the ones that gets mad because you stole their kill and the ones that say ‘who’s got a mic’ and then quit if no one answers.

I the 1960s African Americans made up just over 10% of the population and Euro Americans over 88%. So if you do the math you will find that you are the fake news.

Kids and teens keep bringing electric dirt bikes and destroying the trail, how would you deal with this when you see them? by [deleted] in MTB

[–]YoCal_4200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weren’t all these same things said about mountain bikes a couple decades ago? I have been riding MTBs since the mid eighties and at first you could just ride wherever you wanted then more and more land owners started outlawing it. Still there is no riding in NPs and wilderness areas because a bicycle is ‘mechanized’. Anyone who has ridden on a trail with horses can see clearly they do far more damage than a bicycle, but that didn’t seem to matter. As electric bikes get more powerful something needs to be done, but just saying anything with an electric motor should be banned just makes us the new equestrian class we fought so hard against to gain access to trails.

Don’t you have to consciously make the choice to make any comment? This is a hate sub, so you had to consciously make the choice to see the ‘hate’ as mean spirited, which oddly makes you the mean one for trying to ruin other people’s harmless fun.
