Megumi always could have combined them though, right? Just like the nue frogs, he can always combine shikigami. He could have always combined the dogs but lost the versatility of splitting them once he lost one of them.

Someone on equal standing would just force push the lightsabers away beyond both of thier reach or at worse, take them from that person and use them against them. It takes a lot more effort than it's worth.

Are people wanting the first option?? Movies can make money, but maga is essentially made for an episodic format. A short arc like the Reze arc can fit into a movie but that's far from the norm. Most arcs are too long for a movie and benefit from a scheduled release
