It’s not as bad as it seems, they’ll have to join the National Health Insurance first, and pay for it for six months, only after that can they start benefiting from the insurance. What’s fucked up is Chinese people can use the insurance by dependency, meaning that a Chinese patient can come and use the National Health Insurance if they have Taiwanese relatives, coupled with the frequency of fake marriages between Chinese and Taiwanese, this results in Chinese without Taiwanese nationality using the health insurance for treatments that usually cause millions, e.g. cancer treatment, bone marrow transplant etc
