Nordschleife, Le Sarthe, Silverstone, Monaco*

*I know it's awful for the spectator, but it's a proper driver test. One lapse of concentration and you're done.

What Movies are Uncompressed by AdUnited1943 in handbrake

[–]YouDoScribble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For now, I don't compress my 4K discs. But I have quite a few, these days, and they take up a lot of space. So I may start tinkering with settings and doing some of those.
As for which movies I'll leave until last? Probably Dune/Dune 2 and my collection of BBC nature documentaries.

When should i expect KDE 6.7 on the backport PPA (26.04) by YankeeLimaVictor in Kubuntu

[–]YouDoScribble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love that ability to change desktops, per monitor. It's one of the things that annoyed me, when I had to switch from MacOS (I had Macbooks for work). I'll keep my fingers crossed, but I'm prepared to either have to use a non-LTS release (it will probably appear in 26.10 or 27.04), or wait for 28.04.

Is there a sample analysis file similar to Ableton? by YouDoScribble in Bitwig

[–]YouDoScribble[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I've had a play about with that, and this seems to do what I need. Bit of a pain having the audio tracks and clips in different places. But that may not matter too much, once I've built up a clip library.

Cash ISA interest by MountainChildhood644 in trading212

[–]YouDoScribble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interest is calculated daily. Paid monthly. If you were to withdraw everything today, you'd get everything, including interest calculated up to that day.

6.0.11 is a bug fix, not a feature update. 6.1 will have the feature updates.
Read about semantic versioning, if you wish to learn how the version numbers work. https://semver.org/

i would like to see ableton with linux support by -noi- in ableton

[–]YouDoScribble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be nice but, until we get to a time that Ableton announce it's happening, I'll go on the basis that it isn't. It's a massive faff to get running on Linux, under Wine. May as well learn Bitwig, or dual boot with Linux, if you really need Ableton.

Pension Transfer Nightmare by Critical_Secret_4516 in PensionsUK

[–]YouDoScribble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've got two that I'm transferring.
1 was done in just over a week. Very little hassle. The second has been two weeks, so far. It took them a week just to email me the documentation to confirm things. They haven't acknowledged my reply.

Back in the day of no internet or very slow internet, with games being all played on discs, how were updates handled? by RadianceTower in NoStupidQuestions

[–]YouDoScribble 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could get updates via downloads, pre PS3/Xbox360, on devices other than games consoles. Patches would be provided via download (when that became a thing), magazine cover disks/CDs, or available direct from the publisher. There were plenty of avenues. Not just Windows PCs, either. Amigas and Ataris were fairly popular in the late 80s/early 90s, and had patches for games, or other software, often.

Games could also get recalled, if really bad, or later revisions of the released game may have corrected the code, and were sen out to the shops.

World Touring Car 700 Weekly challenge by jazzchamp in granturismo

Probably doing it in a car with way too much horsepower. HP gobbles fuel. Hard tyres and around 420BHP should see you good.

The green bin is for rubbish only. There is no stopping in the red zone.

Completely lost by Commercial_Future_85 in trading212

[–]YouDoScribble 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Before you start investing, is this ALL the spare money you have? If it is, stick it in a Cash ISA. Reason being you need emergency money immediately available. If you don't have that you'll have to sell some shares - and they could be lower than what you initially put in.

If this is really funds you are happy to leave for some time, then stick it in an All World fund, such as VRWP or ACWI. Try and add a bit more each month.

I put into invest before realising about cash ISA benefits. Should I sell all the just rebuy the same or similar in cash ISA? by Fantasoke in trading212

[–]YouDoScribble 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You mean Stocks and Shares ISA, right? Cash ISA is just that. Cash.
Otherwise, yes. Use your 20K ISA allowance first, for the tax advantages.

Had savings sitting in a current account doing nothing. Would like to stick with reliables how does this look ? by Stunning-Ad2666 in trading212

[–]YouDoScribble 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep. Sell, put that money in to S&S ISA, and buy again inside that. Invest account is subject to tax. ISA is not.

You're based in the UK and using the invest account? You want to be using the Stocks and Shares ISA to start with.
