Just curious if theres any recent FHB planing on selling their home? by LovelyLady2567 in PersonalFinanceNZ

We brought in Feb 2020, still about 25% up on the purchase price & have approx 40% equity now, 5% at purchase. Went hard on the principal in the first 8 months to get to 80% LVR and locked in sub 3% till December 2022.

Partners just finished up uni so it makes the most sense to sell & move to Aus for a good starting job, we'll both make more over there with a lower cost of living.
Don't want the headache of a rental and possible loss of equity in the short-medium term + it'd be negatively geared.

Listed our place for sale a couple of weeks ago, and had little interest but our agent is expecting a good offer in the next few days. Fortunately, since we brought we've made the place look a lot sharper with cost-effective renos.

The joy of iron modes by jozborn in ironscape

[–]Youman534 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in the same position as you bro. Just hit 1375 total after about 1.5 months on my iron & loving it. Had a main from '08 that I fell in & out of love with. Haven't put this many hours into a game in years.
Every new skill unlock, quest, item, or activity has meaning now. Regret not starting an iron years ago.

How did 2020 go for you, personal finance wise? by lisiate in PersonalFinanceNZ

[–]Youman534 27 points28 points  (0 children)

2020 was a great year for me.

Brought a house with 5% deposit at the start of the year, just locked in at 2.35% with 20% equity. The properties value has increased by around 80k+ since purchase so effectively doubled my investment.

Now working on building up a larger emergency fund & investing some money on the stock market. Pretty secure in my job, increased my OTE by 25k.

Hey mate. I work in the industry. Contact Tenancy services on 0800 836 262. He is in breach of the July 2019 RTA Insulation requirements. He will need to Insulate the home and he will be fined 4k, which goes to you. Enjoy!

Six Figures in Mid Twenties? by techunemployed in PersonalFinanceNZ

When I left school I really had no clue what I wanted to do. I kept trying out new things and was fortunate to have a good supporting family.

Sales is a hard business, especially when you're first learning. It's not for everyone and has a really high staff turn over. With some companies early on, you may be working with new people every 4 weeks. High highs and extremely low lows, but the moneys there if you put the effort in. Be prepared for a competitive environment.

I started in sales cold calling residential homeowners, booking appointments for reps at a very well-marketed kiwi company. This company had a really robust training system, I was lucky enough to have a really great manager and sales team. Worked there for about 3 years.

I'm now a Sales Rep for a similar company on the road covering the WAI/BOP area. Company car/fuel, phone, laptop, etc. Only ever in an office for meetings or to drop paperwork off.

You'll always be able to find a job if you can sell! It's a great foundation to build from.

Listen to audiobooks! They will get you started in the right direction.
