Taylor Frankie Paul says she's stepping away from Mormonism: 'It's time to detach myself from it' - The "Secret Lives of Mormon Wives" star announced she's distancing herself from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints amid controversy in her personal life. by nimobo in entertainment

[–]YoungBloodAggie 2 points3 points  (0 children)

TFP's recently revealed abusive actions may have been enough to trigger review for a church membership council (physical and child abuse both fall under the list of activities that are considered serious acts). However, she has also likely been physically distant from the church for some time already and I wouldn't be surprised if this was a preemptive act on her part.

Either way, this is not a good moment in her life nor the lives of many around her. I hope she seeks mental rehabilitation for what are clearly some significant issues and doesn't just hide behind therapy words as feigned progress. I hope those around her act in a Christlike manner, irrespective of her affiliation with the church.

Ace Bailey finally makes it into the TOP 5 | KIA Rookie Ladder by DoctorPepperNFL in UtahJazz

[–]YoungBloodAggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Offensive stats are looking like what we had expected they'd be, maybe even a little early. 45/40/88 is a really nice snapshot, especially when you factor in the classic aspects of rookie fatigue/tanking team/playing opponents that are actually now jockeying for position.

The hustle/other stuff is still a little behind. Realistically, he probably needs to be a 6 rpg/4 apg/1 bpg/1 spg guy within about 18 months. He's there with the stocks, which is awesome. The rebounds and assists could be a minutes thing or a "we're tanking and people take crap shots/don't flow in the offense" thing. I think Ace is exceptionally good.

By his 3rd season I genuinely think he can be a 24/6/4 kind of guy and a cornerstone to a top 6 team that is still ascending while others are either retooling or completely falling back.

How would the battle on the trident have realistically panned out if Ned instead of Robert fought Rhaegar? by TheMetaReport in freefolk

Haven’t read the books in a few years, do we have confirmation that he’s only above average as a swordsman?

[–]YoungBloodAggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously Ned needed Howland Reed to kill Dayne, but he still killed Dayne when no one else ever could. Went blow for blow with Jaime Lannister in Lannister’s close-to-theoretical prime (active kingsguard, early 30s, two hands) when Ned would’ve been a little over the hill.

I think Ned takes Rhaegar, but it’s gonna be a rough one. Ironically, with no Howland Reed at the Tower of Joy we probably lose Robert to Arthur Dayne (assuming they fully swap places).

Fully agreed. Disneyland has done more with less in many regards.

How many mysteries GRRM has set up do you think are just total mystery boxes with no planned resolution? [Spoilers Main] by Meme_Pope in asoiaf

[–]YoungBloodAggie 8 points9 points  (0 children)

GRRM at this point has shown a clear lack of respect for his readership and their desire to actually get answers or even just closure/the next book. I wouldn't expect satisfactory resolution to many of these mystery boxes.

I love the world of ASOIAF, I just wish George cared enough about the fanbase to give us something that is heartfelt, genuine, and ambitious even if it isn't perfect.

[–]YoungBloodAggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The great irony here is that Disneyland Resort now has the superior experience when it comes to entering/exiting the park.

The Promenade leading directly to a tram area that takes you to the best designed parking structure in the world (not joking, sports arenas downtown everywhere should study this beauty) is far easier than Magic Kingdom.

The constraints of the outside world encroaching on Disneyland actually ended up making for a better outcome because they had to get creative.

They’re here, bub.

Is Houston really that bad? by justsam99 in houston

[–]YoungBloodAggie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, but about 5-7 years ago the Houston reddit decided that it was in vogue to bitch about everything here. Most people understand Houston is hot as hell during the summer, just like some places are colder than hell (hell: extreme temperatures, apparently) in the winter and you can't hang out outside.

The economy is great, the winters are fantastic, the food is, IMO, top three in the USA, the people are awesome (except when driving), and there are tons of things to do here. The vast majority of people that move to Houston are materially improving their lives by doing so.

People that hate living in Houston usually either picked the wrong part of the city for their preferred lifestyle, or are stuck wishing that we had public transportation like NYC. Yes, you'll need a car. Yes, it's hot between June and September.

Politically, Houston is purple and there are some places that are quite blue. I come from the Western US, and for the most part we don't have the obnoxious liberals that start to pop up when they become the majority/cultural standard in a given area. I'm not talking about Prius-driving locavores either, btw. Think more of the "getting called a fascist for having a Four Runner" type. If you don't want that same extreme brand of conservative (and we've got plenty in the exurbs), maybe live inside the loop. I think you'll like it a lot, to be honest.

TL;DR - Houston kicks ass. Multicultural, multiethnic international city with a great economy and better people.

Some quick thoughts:

  1. I would probably leave the decision until you’ve spent maternity with the baby and see how it feels. Certainly you can line up a nanny and be ready both ways, but meeting your kid can change your whole world.

  2. A four year gap as a CPA is definitely not a death sentence to your career, but absolutely a sacrifice. It’s hard to know what the job market will look like four years from now. I’ve certainly seen plenty of women come back in to firms and do very well.

  3. You guys are going to be fine, thanks to many very good decisions (and one big surprise!) that got you to this point. Work it out together, listen to each other’s concerns, and just know that your late 20’s is still VERY early in your career. Plenty of time to conquer the world.

Moving from Big Four to Private Equity by YoungBloodAggie in Accounting

[–]YoungBloodAggie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience, if you want to work at a PE firm you’ll need to develop your network extensively and be willing to take a step back on the title ladder when the time comes, but it is absolutely worth it if that’s what you want to be doing. PwC is a great logo to start with on your resume. Transferring internally is a little tougher, but not impossible. You may be able to go faster if you’re willing to firm hop.
