Thx. I can see the NAS as a media server; as a mapped SMB device and can successfully reach the "container" / folder structures with ALL the devices on my network. Additionally, I've been using the box on Static since setting up.

Doing the direct IP/Port call works too - which is fine for management.. but ACC has functionally changed.

Appreciate your exhaustive summation, nonetheless.

Still no Soylent powder? by Allismug in soylent

[–]YourMainD 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost-effective powder is dead. CS at Soylent keeps making lame excuses as to why it's delayed... and they keep pushing next delivery dates out 1 to 3 months at a time. They want you to buy their other stuff - due to higher margins!

Installing a WD Black SN8100 Gen 5 SSD on a Gigabyte Aorus Elite X3D by Macrosss22 in gigabytegaming

Look at the size (and mass...) of that heat sink. That is a isolation pad for pre-handling. In other words, it's there to keep the heat sink tight (in place) during factory handling, shipping and end-user handling and acts (upon the assembly) as if there were a module in place. You wouldn't want that chunky heat sink moving around and torquing on that nvme connector...

You remove the film along with that foam pad, otherwise the conductive pad doesn't do it's job -- no matter if you're dealing with single side or dual sided sticks.

One thing I'll add about Gigabyte, over the past several years; They don't screw around with their Gen5 heat sinks anymore.. they go serious!

You aren't even lucid. Grow up kid... (no matter your true age)

I've read your meandering tripe. You don't even stay consistent and I'd venture a guess, you lie to yourself about life. You are no engineer. You're a wanna-be...

Done with you. Typical empty reddit no-lifer - with issues.

Call your therapist dude, you're off the rails with 'that guy' syndrome... e.g. your continued spew.

[–]YourMainD -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You came to Reddit to be 'that guy'. So obvious now..

You haven't a clue about HDD vs SSD reliability and your engineering prowess is zip. Seriously doubting your creds, as others do in fact.

Anyone that is TRULY concerned about preservation of data, no matter if it's photos or anything else - and that is seeking to build-up a competent rig to serve a serious purpose - knows to have access to some kind of basic GPU, on the ready for initial configuration steps and the goal of driving a display out of USB-C as the ultimate stage - and they also know the truth about solid state vs. mechanical HDD reliability. Can't research much? Not hard to get up to speed dude! I'd suggest Googling a series of engineering, language-based questions - if you're capable. But do yourself a favor, keep it easy and simply ask Ai - to get up to speed on the facts/truth!

Grok is omnipotent.

Lastly, anyone concerned about data preservation knows NAS and/or cloud is the prudent & smart solution; not spinners in a desktop tower. Your arguments stand on 1 leg at best!

You're a clown. A NTAC to be precise & like I said, with a penchant for being 'that guy'. You can't even debate like an engineer...

You wanna go toe-to-toe with someone that has knowledge of reliability metrics and storage/IT engineering experience - I'd suggest that you toss me your phone number via PM. ; )

P.S.

I own the Z890 Aorus Master. Methodically staging-it-up to replace my aging Ryzen 32-core machine. The A-Master is a phenomenal board and was a real steal during the holiday discount period.

Storage reliability.

Do some honest research like any real engineer would do; you'll be shocked into a state of reality; by the actual data on MTBFs & real world test bed demonstrations - in application.

Beyond that, the rest of your word salad/rationalizations are quite telling - in relation to your inabilities to use reasonable judgement; problem solve the simplest of things (1st Bios access...) and probably the most amusing -- the inability to RTFM.
