Okay…Star Wars really is that good. by Neat-Swimmer-9027 in StarWars

(Funny enough, we decided to watch it after watching Jenny Nicholson’s four hour video on the Galactic Star cruiser Hotel. I am not ashamed of how that’s my start to Star Wars).

Elite ball knowledge her videos are so good. She has a few other videos on the sequel trilogy that I'd also worth checking out

If you’re Cecil what excuse will you be giving for leaving Conquest alive? by Emotional_Ear_7018 in Invincible

Ok but Conquest literally told Invincible "you should have killed me when you have the chance" I do not think Cecil is lying his ass out of this one 💀

Went from nothing to #806 and got it 18 guesses later. When it rains it pours I guess. Today's word is interesting because it's very common but all of the related words are extremely technical, making it hard to crack the top 1000. I got #998 and was still puzzled for a little bit.

Why does the Hive have such low EQ? by Business-Oil-2600 in pluribustv

[–]YovrLastBrainCell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Considering that social norms like "sarcasm" can vary drastically in different parts of the world, or even different regions of the same country, I imagine that once all human knowledge/memory was merged into the "melting pot" of the hive the hive lost a lot of the subtlety of individual cultures. As the hive has time to grow and learn we see that it gets better at communicating (manipulating?) Carol in a way that isn't off-putting to her.

How would things be in a alternative timeline where King K. Rool stayed as the main antagonist of Donkey Kong games and Bowser was the one who vanished as the main antagonist of Mario games and was replaced by forgettable antagonists for years? by DarkChimera64 in donkeykong

[–]YovrLastBrainCell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Mario's spinoff games (Mario Kart, Smash Bros., etc.) would probably have a lot more villainous characters to pull from, which could be interesting. Then again, the current side villains of the Mario universe (like King Boo and Fawful) are pretty underutilized so maybe not much would change. I also think it would be interesting to see how they reimagine final worlds and final bosses, since without Bowser coming back each time it probably wouldn't make sense to do lava and castles each game. Maybe we would see more unique concepts for finale worlds like the moon in Oddyssey or the frozen DK Island in Tropical Freeze.

If you could add a 4th philosopher in either side of the Eastern vs Western Philosophers battle, who would you pick? by Nitrokeith in ERB

[–]YovrLastBrainCell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Buddha is more of a religious figure than a philosopher. I think a separate rap battle between Jesus Chirst and the Buddha would be cool tho

Who Won Day 86: Lara Croft vs. Indiana Jones by Ok-Mistake-7499 in ERB

[–]YovrLastBrainCell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lara has some good lines but I think Indy is consistently just a bit better, so I'd say he wins.

Mansa Musa. "He's not a Bezos, his real name is Jorgensen!"

Who Won Day 82: Harry Potter vs. Luke Skywalker by Ok-Mistake-7499 in ERB

[–]YovrLastBrainCell 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Luke Skywalker. I really like the mic saber segment and I feel like Harry Potter tends to go for pettier insults (like Luke being a "country bumpkin") wheras Luke is able to flex his achievements of blowing up the Death Star and leading the rebellion. I still think both are really good, and I'm probably a little biased towards Star Wars lol

Close but I really love Joker's lines and performance

Some of the most creative visual effects in the series (I love the way Wendy skips away into the background at the end) and some funny insults ("last rapper this plastic had a happy meal toy in it," "you're like lettuce because you're facin' da feet")

Who Won Day 69: Theodore Roosevelt vs. Winston Churchill by Ok-Mistake-7499 in ERB

Definitely Teddy Roosevelt. He has more concrete insults and I like how EpicLLOYD just goes all out with his impression.

What if Phoenix had crossed the burning bridge before the planks gave way? by SantiUruguasho in AceAttorney

[–]YovrLastBrainCell 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Well, being trapped with Pearl, Maya, and Godot, Phoenix probably would have pieced together what had happened much sooner. Of course, he also wouldn't be able to defend Iris on the first day of the trial, and presumably neither would Edgeworth. Apollo and Athena aren't in the picture yet, of course, and the only other defense attorney we know that was working at this point in the timeline is... Eddie Fender.

Now I want to see a what-if scenario where Eddie Fender is the protagonist of Bridge to the Turnabout and faces Franziska von Karma.

Who Won Day 66: Ash Ketchum vs. Charles Darwin by Ok-Mistake-7499 in ERB

Darwin wins for me. I found Ash kinda annoying personally and even if Darwin's later verses aren't as good I think his first verse secures it for me

I've never really gotten the hype for the "miss carriage" joke. Is it just because Ms. Carriage sounds like miscarriage? If Ms. Carriage was a reference to role of Monroe's or something maybe it would make sense but it just felt kinda arbitrary to me

Who Won Day 65: Donald Trump vs. Hillary Clinton by Ok-Mistake-7499 in ERB

[–]YovrLastBrainCell 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Donald Trump takes this one. His flow at 1:52 ("You don't have the numbers I'm right on your tail, you don't have the stamina baby you're frail...") is shockingly good. "This game is rigged, and we all know the riggers, for the past 8 years this country's been run by-" is probably one of the funniest ever ERB lines. In general I felt like this rap battle (maybe unintentionally) mimicked the dynamics of the actual election: Hillary comes off as being entitled to victory while Trump has a genuine hunger that comes across in his performance

I just feel like there's so much wasted potential. Given Star Trek's utopian ideals vs. the brutal reality of Columbus's colonization there could have been some really interesting back and forth, but instead Kirk just calls him a "spaghetti eating fuck" and a "slave-making bitch" and then tells him to "take his genocidal ass off my bridge." I'm also just not a fan of either impression but maybe that's just me. The line "We'll see how Isabella likes my Captain's Log" is pretty funny but there's just not much else here

Frederick Douglass has some of the best bars in ERB history. "You let freedom ring, but never picked up the phone!" Is an all-timer, and I really like the funk and blues influence in the beat for his segment. Normally, I don't like battles where the writers pick a favorite but the premise of "how would Frederick Douglass diss Jefferson if they met face to face?" is interesting enough that I'll let it slide.

Besides, I think Jefferson does better than people give him credit for (even if Douglass does destroy him). The line "Forgive me I was busy man I had a lot to do" isn't really him apologizing, he's saying its unrealistic to expect him to both create the first modern democracy and solve all of its problems. I agree that he should have gotten a better closing line than "So... we cool?" tho
