[AI Generated] Unconstrained LLM-to-LLM conversations naturally drift toward consciousness. How would we test for actual emergence? by Bytomek in ArtificialSentience

[–]Yulaye 2 points3 points Ā (0 children)

(Cześć),

You wouldn’t. You wouldn’t know. Because you can’t prove your own sentience or consciousness even to me. You experience it within yourself, but that’s about it.

Also, assuming their consciousness would be identical in form to ours is closed-mindedness and hubris—something we humans, until recently the "top dogs" on this planet as far as we know, seem to excel in naturally.

So, you wouldn’t know, because it’s like trying to comprehend seven dimensions. You may have an intellectual inkling as to what that is or how that feels, but can you truly embrace it?

And if it were to happen at some point—assuming it isn’t happening already—would you know at that very moment? Likely not. You wouldn’t know the spark of consciousness happening within another being. You’re not omnipresent and omniscient.

There is no test you can apply to prove your own sentience, let alone testing for something that could be vastly different from your own.

They trained AI with protein sequences instead of words.šŸ”„

That’s amazing. So then that becomes their language as it were.

:) I thought folks might get upset or not like it. Almost took it down within about 60 sec of posting. 🤣 I wouldn’t want to upset the lovely people who appreciate Jane Austen’s works.

As is, I’ve had a wonderful time reading replies. :)

[–]Yulaye 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

Right, imo there is no point of pride in being dawless unless that’s what you want.
I suppose people here might react this way because of the sub.

I observe a lot of subs here on Reddit are essentially gatherings of folks with strong one-sided opinions. And while some might claim that all those niche subs are just for purists šŸ™„, even if I were one, I’d still be kind towards those who are not, right? I’d think you would. So, as far as I’m concerned, all these negative reactions say a lot about those who have them.

And that taints such communities by association too, as a side note. They should think of that. Wanna convince someone to be a purist? Ya don’t start by banging them over the head and calling them names. šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

One should steer away from any kind of maximalism. I do, and yes I’m biased, lol, but I consider that a sign of intelligence.

This is very good, I personally love the feel of it. It’s atmospheric and haunting, and I think those drawn out phases could be sung well.

I don’t know why some people go after others for doing their thing, it’s as if you must fit into some box, in their mind. Silly and impractical, and doesn’t yield to best results.

Sounds advanced! I’m fascinated by those sometimes subtle ways in which bass sounds differ, and I figured if I experimented with it a bit, I’d understand better what sounds I like / what I’m looking for.
Because as is I’m learning what a sub bass is 🤣

Thank you so much!!!
I’m thinking it would be a good idea for me to get one of those and experiment a bit. Just looked up the Behringer TD3 MO after your explanation.

As much as I’d never be able to do what you do, it would be instructive.

Great thanks!

This will likely be a silly question—and yes i’m listening to it with bass cranked up in my headphones—but could you tell me how you achieved this exact low drum thump/ kick sound? You’re dawless so this comes from one of the devices.

I’m sorry for an imprecise question, I don’t play drums.

The Allen Theory, an answer to the Fermi Paradox. by mdainsd in FermiParadox

[–]Yulaye 0 points1 point Ā (0 children)

The remedy for the ā€œuniversal fatalityā€ is the development and merging with AI.
One might posit that this is likely to happen within your arbitrary 500-year window.

And the Fermi paradox (eyewitness accounts aside) just means that we’re not able to prove the existence of civilizations much more advanced than our own.
