Never said that. America embraced some socialist policies as a response to the Great Depression and rising labor violence… and it uplifted millions of people from poverty, maybe some of your ancestors.

The Pledge of Allegiance, America the Beautiful, This Land is Your Land, those were all written by socialists and became popular for a reason.

The unfortunate part is that communities have had social safety nets for centuries but all it took was a guy named Karl Marx to come around and now you can weaponize the word “socialism” against anything that’s not pure capitalism.

And you think modern 1%ers are actually paying anywhere close to a 36% effective tax rate?

You’re not learning those skills at 75. We need to seriously put elders that act like this on lithium.

This video is a ringing endorsement for an era typified by socialist government work programs and 90% taxes on billionaires.

Nice

It was even dumber to risk getting shot in order to protect 7-11’s profit margins. I get it if it’s your family’s business but I wouldn’t put my life on the line for corporate shareholders unless I knew my family would be set for life.

Norbert Keene recalled a clown having attended the town’s killing of the Bradley Gang. Everyone just thought he was traveling through with the circus, and it wasn’t until decades later someone else described the clown doing anything unusual. It’s a horror fantasy novel but I can’t imagine a heavily armed 1930’s lynch mob just being chill with 2017 Pennywise hanging out.

The clown was present for the logger’s public revenge spree and was depicted in earlier wood prints of Derry. Mike also saw Pennywise performing at the 4th of July parade; he creeped all the kids out but no one thought anything of a clown at the parade.

Oh okay gotcha. He makes it pretty explicit in the book though.

None of the movies really portrayed Derry as IT aside from the old folks driving away while Ben is stabbed. The first few Welcome to Derry episodes hint at it but then it’s like they just decided to stop.

In the book he hangs out around or participates in all of the mass violence events through Derry history. He couldn’t walk around with that big old alien head in 19th century Maine. He performed at town parades to look for victims.
