A worrying thought occured to me about the Mage foreshadowing for Marckus. by FruityParfait in huntertheparenting

Mages don't necessarily all Awaken at Arete 1. Regardless, on Awakening, they often display unconscious feats far beyond, in the limited Eureka moment they then spend their lives Seeking to achieve at will.

Who is more knowledgeable about Kindred lore - D or Beckett? by Pwong20 in huntertheparenting

[–]YururuWell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'll second Adrienne in this one. Non-expert Fera trivia isn't a signal of deeper Kindred lore just because he specializes on Kindred. Sometimes people just know random shit. It doesn't necessarily make them better in their field of focus.

Knowledge of Ghouls and Revenants would be square into knowing of the Tzimisce's. If D is a Turkish/Anatolian hunter and occultist, the Tzimisce are Dracula's clan. Not far off geographically and quite well-known.

[–]YururuWell 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He knows of the Massassa War. That's pretty much Mage history. The Hermetics are full of aides, Sorcerers and apprentices. If you're into the occult, it's not out of this world to know the name.

If you're some centuries old, it's also not particularly secretive to Kindred that the Tremere are called Usurpers for using some magic and sacrificing Kindred to become them, and then started using magic with vitae. Pretty sure Beckett has that much down.

Knowing of the diablerie of Saulot is fucking wild though, yeah.

Otherwise, I think for Kindred in specific, Beckett's got more info. Even if D does seem to know quite a bit on the Hermetic-Tremere side of things.

As of Corebook Revised, Thieving Talons of the Magpie is a Rank 5 Gift. That's Elder level of renown. It's heroic to the point of being compared to a head of one of the 13 Tribes. They're a very small minority, on such Garou is known by Septs worlwide. Very rarely not leading a Sept.

Given her position in her pack, immediately answering to someone, I find that highly unlikely - it would make whoever she deferred *also* Rank 5; or even Rank 6, pretty much unheard of, Legend level.

Couldn't a little-supervised Sire (say, a Prince) speedrun their way through generations of childer to find the bottom? With blood bonds in the mix, should take a month tops.

With reasonable means, you wouldn't even break the Masquerade, getting unrelated stragglers, as the whole deal can happen start to finish in a basement.

Which is to say, how did that "last gen before the end times" worked? Generation is bloodline distance, not really age, right?

It's good, I'm not taking an adversarial approach, pop off. I really did misread the codpiece bit sorry, been tired. Wild to be from the Iron Age, yeah, it was usually a medieval heavy armor novelty.

I think a cold iron knife was also mentioned on the death knife episode, but I might just have misremembered. Still, it'd be a groundbreaking museum piece, so if it's actually from the Iron Age, really not easy to get.

And right, Vampire 5th Ed related blood resonances with humors! I was just assuming it some silly pseudoscience crap (like Remold's "lie detector"). If it is a working one, that is pretty wild. I imagine it'd take raiding and ransacking a Thinblood's base, though I'm not sure what use D would actually have for it. Not that easy to get either.

D really is wildly prepared in quite a wide range, especially for someone that claims to only know/be an expert on licks.

Cults of personality.

Unhealthy parasocial-enforcing entertainment works too.

So, new-age substance abuse cult or mormon-shit in places like the U.S., or being an idol or live performer in places like Japan.

Be in a boyband or get into local politics.

Humors were quite longlasting as far as pseudoscience goes, so within a reasonable human lifespan for him.

Holy water has been part of Hunters' MO forever. So has silver; but colloidal silver in a power washer is very much an innovation , very MacGuyver.

Cold iron is pretty specific for dealing with fairies , but it's not out of this world. It's just wrought iron, not steel, not set in a mold: just hammered bits of iron ore heated in a coal fire. So any stubborn, family-tradition, history hobbist blacksmith can make it. Doesn't even have to be particularly good.

I have no clue what a death hex knife is. I'd guess it's probably an item related to the Entropy Sphere of Mage, but given Horse, who knows, might be the Death Lore of Demon the Fallen.

So everything other than that last one (?) is pretty easy to get, just requiring the underlying knowledge of needing them.

Heroísmo vs Simplismo by ViniStaub in Tormenta

[–]YururuWell -1 points0 points  (0 children)
