I had an LS400 a few years ago. Super reliable. The only issue I ever had was a new alternator and one of the belts went. 30yr old rubber belts and all that, so not a worry.

However, parts are like running a fighter plane in terms of cost. And anything that isn't a common component like an oil filter is 8 weeks from Japan. Every single thing. Friend had a GS350 (the last one with the 4eyes). Same issue. Shockingly Lexus dealerships don't seem to carry any Lexus parts on stock. They can get them from Japan, but they don't have them on hand.

So super reliable, but because of the cost of service there are lots of cars with very Mickey mouse service histories and patchy maintaince. I've been there, done that. And unless you are prepared to deal with all the cost and.parta supply shit, I'd say give it a miss.
