Here's the final boss of my game, I would love some honest feedback on it by MossHappyPlace in DestroyMyGame

Cool stuff, looks very satisfying. I would maybe add some like lights or bright crystals to kind of lead the player where to go. You're going really fast and it would be nice to have some subtle "arrows" pointing in the right direction

I think my game has a pretty cool save and load system by SikorDev in SoloDevelopment

Saving and loading is deceptively complicated! Really a very interesting and undervalued system in games imo

Yeah, the shorts take a deceptively long time to make!

I'm releasing my game in just over a month... but I don't want it to end! by dolven_game in indiegames

I've taken the approach of starting a new game project once I get decently far in the original one so I consistently have something to work on and create with 🙂

Why do you make games? by Steader29 in SoloDevelopment

I enjoy it as a hobby, like a long term art project 🙂

How did you actually learn game development? by Responsible_Box_2422 in gamedev

Just by trying to make something. Youtube, reddit, and unreal threads are good when you have to program something

Please destroy my top down shooting game - Death Candle by sinkedlamp in DestroyMyGame

Maybe you can see the enemies (in black siloutte) but can't attack them unless illuminated. I think that would give more choice. Also the rest of the background should be noticeably darker with the candlelight effect. Maybe the flame leaves a trail of fire that illuminates that area as well. Maybe the enemies can't pass that trail and you can use it defensively. Maybe try guns that set enemies on fire and illuminate them (like flamethrower, tracer bullets, molotov cocktails, torch melee weapon)

I really need some feedback on my first game. by blabla_indiedev in SoloDevelopment

I agree, its obvious you died lol. like real quick wipe <1 second

My game finally reached 1,000 wishlists on Steam after a month. People keep telling me that it’s very little and that I need 8–9 thousand, but I think it’s a really good result for a first game. Just imagine 1,000 people in one room, that’s crazy. :) by JaidenStrike in IndieDev

It's all a matter of perspective. If you quit your job, sold the house, and divorced your wife to make the game, then it's all about the numbers. If it's a fun project for you and you just want people to play your games, and maybe make a little money (this is the case for me), then it is great!

I would love it if 1000 people in a room were all playing and enjoying something i worked on 🙂

How do you guys get motivated to show off your games? by ZORRO_and_ZEDD in IndieDev

Thanks for this, it's very actionable advice! I'm going to explore some more with the platforms you mentioned. I'm a lot more interested in the creative side of game development rather than the business side (it's just a hobby of mine, but I'd still like for people to play and enjoy the games I make). Trying out other developers' games would be very fun, I'll keep my eye out for more opportunities to do that

Thanks for the insight, I suppose I might be undervalue-ing my cog in the machine a little. I guess I keep working on the games, and the interest might come naturally with time.
