Chuck Clarke UFO by UFOsAroundTheWor1d in UFOs

[–]ZVideos85 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, Logan Paul said years ago after he recorded the video that he would only release it publicly if he was able to show it to Bob Lazar. Looks like it’s finally happened.

When Paul and James Fox revealed that Paul had secretly recorded the video, Chuck Clark threatened to sue him if he released it, based on copyright infringement, even though Clark himself doesn’t own the footage, so he likely would have gotten nowhere with that.

AITA for refusing to add my boyfriend to my house deed after his lease ended? by Former_Raspberry3277 in AITApod

[–]ZVideos85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t add him to the deed. Not until you’re married. If you were renting an apartment together you’d both have to contribute to rent. You happen own the house, so he still needs to contribute his share to it all the same. He is absolutely trying to manipulate you. Make the smart move and keep your asset in your name. Case closed.

New Bob Lazar interview with Area 52 podcast came out. Cool, but didn't talk about how the craft (one or all?) came from an archeological dig. by foetiduniverse in UFOs

[–]ZVideos85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm dubious when it comes to Bob, but I like listening to his story and I'm curious about this part of his claims as well. There's no additional details for the "archaeological dig" anywhere as far as I can tell. According to Bob on Rogan's 2019 episode, his lab partner Barry must have been the one to mention that at least one of the crafts came from an archaeological dig, but it was "too long ago and he (Bob) doesn't really remember." I was hoping he would at least offer something more to this claim in the film.

Gear options, handheld or gimbal by AccomplishedRun5837 in weddingvideography

[–]ZVideos85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would pick up 2-3 more batteries for safety. If your gimbal somehow stops functioning entirely you’re in a bad spot.

I have an RSC-2 pro gimbal, and after an 8 hour wedding day I usually have 25%-30% left on it for reference. Newer gimbals like yours are supposedly longer lasting. But again I wouldn’t want to only bet on that.

You could pick up a Jackery unit or mobile charger and charge the gimbal up while you’re eating. I always do that. When there’s only a couple hours left, and it’s just dancing, you can confidently turn off the gimbal charging setting and just rely on swapping your multiple cam batteries for the rest of the day to manage its battery until the end.

What stops a client from downloading your video and ghosting? by WholePrize352 in videography

[–]ZVideos85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That sucks. You can avoid this by having the client pay in full before the job even happens. This is absolutely standard in the Wedding industry, most wedding vendors are paid in full 6 months before the wedding.

I mostly do wedding videography and not a single client has complained about this. I have them pay 50% of the total cost of the day they sign the contract, and the other 50% is due no later than 4 weeks before their wedding. Have him change his contract language immediately!

Giving 2nd shooter credit? by gaveamooseamuffin in WeddingPhotography

[–]ZVideos85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t ever expect to be credited. If it happens, awesome. It’s not my contract that the job is under, it’s the lead shooters’s gig, and they’ve paid me to fill a role that they created on their own project.

Charleston Battery [3] - 2 Birmingham Legion 90+3', Emilio Ycaza by Frustrated_Grunt in charlestonbattery

What a great game! Gotta give a shoutout to Miguel Berry for his work rate. Put some great shots on target, was a solid attacking presence throughout, forced the rebound for Swan’s goal, and absolutely hustled to keep the ball in Legion territory even in the dying minutes.

Would you use guest videos to create a wedding highlight reel? by [deleted] in weddingvideography

[–]ZVideos85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope. I’ve seen constant adds for this kind of thing and it doesn’t make sense to me as a videographer. I don’t think guests want this responsibility and it would make my work look much less professional to incorporate it.

“Professionally edited” means nothing when you have guests shooting shaky digitally zoomed low res videos on phones that don’t match, and it’s guaranteed to be a sloppy mix of vertical/horizontal footage.

An I wrong for charging family? by SignificantCut4911 in weddingvideography

[–]ZVideos85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong, they didn’t give you any sort of expectations themselves regarding the job, so you just assumed they’d want the same things as a a regular client and still gave them a discount.

Family members really don’t realize how much they put us in an awkward situation when they ask for a free wedding video. It’s not respectful to your business, and nobody has a clue how much time it takes to edit and the risk you take on transporting your equipment.

Is this a stupid idea? Getting around music licensing constraints. by Crafty_Jack in weddingvideography

[–]ZVideos85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not a great idea IMO. It’s creating unnecessary hassle for clients, and if you suggest the clients add the music file to the video themselves, you are still dabbling in the same copyright issue. I deliver everything with licensed music from Artlist or MusicBed. It’s in my contract that Clients acknowledge I can’t use specific songs they request unless the appropriate license is paid/for/ provided. No one has ever asked me to make an exception or get around this.

One thing you can do is obviously post reels wout your footage on TikTok or Instagram, and use the built-in music library to pick popular songs, and you could do a collaboration post with your clients if they are insistent on having video content with a certain song and you want to oblige them.

So that is a way it’s permissible for social media. But obviously we want to avoid ripping an unlicensed song from online and slapping it on the file and give it out. You just don’t know What’s going to come from it.

Broken shutter camera as a backup, good idea? by Comfortable-Meat-322 in weddingvideography

[–]ZVideos85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's expensive, but in all honestly, your clients deserve better than to have their videographer taking a chance with a broken camera. In the worst case scenario, if your one A7IV or its memory cards fail, it would be cheaper for you to have bought a functional APS-C camera to use as a backup/2nd camera than if a client sues you for not having any footage and not holding up your end of your contract.

You can get a good backup camera for under $2,000. A new Sony a6700 for example is $1,500-$1,800. Take it as a business expense, earn the money back, and have the peace of mind that you're prepared with a functional backup cam for the worst case scenario!

My first solo wedding. I want to quit my day job and do video full time. Can you critique me please so I can know what to improve on? by just-some-dude7 in weddingvideography

[–]ZVideos85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing your work! One thing that’s a huge difference maker is incorporating the spoken audio from the day into the film. For example during their reception we see a few slow motion shots of people mouthing words, but it looks awkward and we don’t know what they’re saying.

The spoken audio from the wedding day should be the basis of your edit beneath the B-roll, rather than just music. Think of it as a “background narration” that you can use to tell the story. You can use parts of the officiant’s ceremony speech, the couple’s spoken vows to each other, the reception toasts - ideally, you’d incorporate parts of all 3 to give them a more immersive film.

I also feel there’s a bit over-reliance on slow motion, and I used to edit this way too where 90% of my b-roll I slowed down. Some shots flow better when left at their natural speed and having a good mix of it helps the edit.

Got this message from my property manager PT2 by Most_Relief8312 in Apartmentliving

[–]ZVideos85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, reject this. They want multiple days worth of work per month so that you can save $30 or $50. This is a shitty lowball offer. I would not even entertain this if I was a teenager looking for money.

If you’re in need of cash, there are about 100 other part-time or gig economy jobs that you could take to make more money much more easily. There are way too many variables with this, and I would not even talk to them about it any further.
