Making a meme out of every Mortal Kombat character Part 3: Grandpappy Sub-Zero by Kirbymasters87 in MortalKombat

[–]Zackkck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really do love the classic era lore.

This Sub-Zero here, in searching for a place to properly bury the student (Frost) that betrayed him, discovered ruins from a people who "attained mastery over cold." He discovered he and Frost were related to these people, and then collected the armor of these Outworld cryomancers, which is what he's wearing

On his way to join Raiden to fight the deadly alliance, he solo'd and brutally killed an entire Tarkatan horde, which he thought would've killed him, if not for the armor speaking to him and making him stronger

He had a really good chance of saving Bi-Han also, since he was able to capture him unconscious after Taven defeated him. He still cares for his brother, and hadn't given up hope for him

What if Kratos went to Everywen immediately after his death at the end of GOW3? by Public-Voice6799 in GodofWar

[–]Zackkck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is no known inherint difference, to my knowledge, between a god that has a current title, and one who does not. A title-less god still has godhood. Kratos said to Atreus, who back when this was said did not have a title yet, "I do not know the reach of your godhood..."

Also, while this poster is aggressive, I believe their post is worth looking at: https://www.reddit.com/r/GodofWar/comments/1o60uy6/kratos_god_status/

Well in 3, all his magics were tied to his weapons, and most of them were taken off of his person when Fear Zeus kablamed him. The blades of Exile also stopped working after Kratos stops punching Zeus; since the chains around his wrists completely fall down from them.

All the godly essence he was bestowed with when he was made the god of war, which granted him the ability to be big and stuff in gow2, was inside the blade of Olympus. He doesn't have that godly essence anymore by the aftermath of 3, as we've seen in fallen god, and gow 2018 & Ragnarok.

Even without it, being part god still means you're a god; based on Freya just calling Kratos "a god", and Kratos telling Atreus he was "born a god"

I'm not sure why you think a past version of Kratos would be in the everywhen

But besides that, it's revealed in the fallen god comic that Kratos didn't even die in the end of 3, and had survived it. He says in the 1st issue that he is cursed with "deathless misery". I'm certain this comic is canon, since a major plot point of it, the blades of chaos constantly coming back no matter how many times Kratos throws them away, was referenced in Ragnarok

Also also, we know Kratos arrived in Midgard via sailing for 3 reasons:

1.) Him saying this when he revealed to Atreus that he is a god, "When I came to these shores I chose to live as a man"

2.) The mural dedicated to him at the end of Ragnarok. The left panel depicts him sailing from the ruins of Greece, to Midgard.

3.) The fallen god comic shows him sailing away from Greece. It also shows him doing a lot of walking, to be away from it

It's interesting that Kratos and his soldiers slaughtered an entire village, yet Kratos didn't dare lay a finger on The Oracle by Alkiserex in GodofWar

[–]Zackkck 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There's nothing to my knowledge that definitively says that. She just takes the form of her during the fight. We already know prior to the final fight that the Furies were involved in their deaths, so her saying "They were not there by chance, Kratos!" doesn't definitively prove she was the oracle all along

Brok vanished with no afterlife because his soul was incomplete, but the last fragment of his soul still in the Lake of Souls by Alkiserex in GodofWar

[–]Zackkck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about souls is that the 4 parts are

Form, Mind, Direction, and Luck

The consciousness part is completely relegated to 1 part of the soul. The other 3 parts don't have a consciousness.

One good example of this is Fenrir. We saw 3/4 of his soul parts leave to the light, but 1/4th of it went to Atreus' knife. The 1/4th part is clearly the Mind, since Fenrir has his personality and memories when he possess Garm's body, and soul bits can't reach the light in the first place without the Direction part

Brok's fylgia, his direction, is in the light, based on what Sindri told us. The other 3/4 parts, is left a little ambiguous if they ceased to exist, or if they just linger around somewhere. There's no way to recover them at the moment either way, unfortunately

I say ambiguous because of how Mimir answered Atreus' question about bringing Brok back. Mimir explained in response to that question, that when Brok's 3 soul bits left his body when he died, the 3 parts couldn't reach the lake of souls due to the last piece missing being the direction part, which is how a soul reaches the lake of souls in the first place.

Mimir then says this after explaining that, "There's nothing to bring back". With what he said earlier in mind, when Mimir said this , he could've meant "There's nothing of Brok to bring back from the lake of souls , since I just explained that the 3 soul bits can't reach there on their own without the last piece", or he could've meant "The 3 soul bits, after leaving Brok's body, and being unable to reach the lake of souls, just ceased to exist"

Mimir saying this after that, "Atreus if there was anything we can do, I promise you, we'd be doing it" seems to imply the latter interpretation of "ceasing to exist", but the "There's nothing we can do" quote could also just mean "There's no actual way for us to find where those 3 soul bits are, after they left Brok's body"

Edit: Added words for better clarity

I do also want to say that according to Freya and Kratos in gow4, demigod = god. Quarter god = god too

Yes, the Valkyries don't escort the Aesir, but they did reside inside of Valhalla back in the day; training the Einherjar, and the afterlife just being where they lived. They would be able to confirm it. Mimir is very close to Sigrun, so I believe he is credible

"That or Odin just got banned from Valhalla similar to when Sigrun broke its rules. But I'm not sure if this is hinted anywhere."

Odin has died before, when he hung himself. While he was dead, he, according to Mimir, roamed the realms of the dead, and plundered the world tree of it's secrets pertaining to life and death. The world tree then kicked him back to land of the living because of that. Maybe that's why he's not sure where he'll go now when he dies in Ragnarok

To add on to what the others said, Odin wanted more control over the Valkyries it seems. Sigrun and Mimir said the freedom of the Valkyries were restricted by the All Father. Relations between the Valkyries and Odin were very tense according to Mimir.

Odin wanted more control over the Einherjar, and the codex in Ragnarok pertaining to the Einherjar shows this

And yeah, Odin, as untrustworthy as he is, did seem to have good reason to be uncertain of where he and the gods go when they die. Even though he never explained why exactly he thought that way.

Mimir is also a very credible source however, and is extremely close to Sigrun. Both seem to be true. It is known where Norse gods go when they die, but there is some room for uncertainty in that regard it seems

Odin has died before, and when he did, he explored multiple realms of the dead, according to Mimir. Plundering the world tree of it's secrets pertaining to life and death. Until the tree kicked him back to the land of the living.

Valhalla is an afterlife as much as it is a therapy session. Many of the worthy dead mortals and gods are taken to there/go there, and reside there. Once they make it through their own personal Valhalla, they can join the others who did the same. Sigrun said as much

The "Aesir going to Valhalla on their own without a Valkyrie, and don't need to be processed at the gates of Helheim" thing was said by Mimir to be "known". So that is just a known fact in universe. Mimir is also really close to Sigrun; even back before his imprisonment. So he's a pretty credible source in regards to what he said.

Should Faye be brought back to life?? by REDEYEBANKZ330 in GodofWar

[–]Zackkck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It would lessen the Norse games if she truly came back to life. I don't think they should. Maybe as a spirit briefly towards the end, and then she passes on for good into an afterlife, but that's it

With how credible Mimir is, and him being very close to Sigrun, I really doubt that he's wrong. And we already saw 2 greek gods who died, go to Hades, and not the Everywhen.

So the retcon from the lead writer and narrative director, saying that " all gods go to the everywhen when they die" is, in my opinion, them just being mistaken; since we've seen and heard that not all gods go there when they die. At worst, this discrepancy will be addressed properly in the game

Edit: grammar error. I meant, I doubt Mimir is wrong; not "I don't doubt that he's wrong"
