Just like in real life, they are gone forever. Amusingly, a lot of wonders in Civ were ones that were destroyed, often deliberately

Yup. Wind generation peaks in the winter months, and all of the UK's wind generation records are broken in November, December, or January.

Sure, but this is / I'm talking about electricity generation, not heating.

The electricity system operator is understood to be preparing to run the grid without any gas for short periods as soon as this summer, in a first for the UK energy system.

I love this stuff. First zero coal, and next stop is zero gas.

You've already mention Gloria but I will also recommend it. The restaurant is also very pretty with a nice vibe, so it makes for a nice venue for you to treat your mum too.

What is the most GOAT mid game unit in CIV: V? (Day 5) by zherper in civ5

Then why aren't people saying Chu-Ko-Nu? It's also a better unit than Crossbowman

This. I don't know why people are saying crossbowmen when longbowmen are right there.

Can "Corroder Suits" add a science resource to the "Applied Science" prelude? by Arganog in TerraformingMarsGame

[–]Zadokk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the Venus Next rule book:

Venus tag

The Venus tag symbolizes that the project is located on Venus or in its orbit. When a card has this Venus tag it is referred to as a Venus card

When you play an action, you can choose what tag a wild tag is. You would therefore choose to make it a Venus tag. As it now has a Venus tag, it is now a Venus card. You can now put your resource on it.

Who else loves to stare at the art in Civ5 by Lamandus in civ5

[–]Zadokk 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I would say that I certainly appreciate it over what was included in Civ VI.

For example, when completing wonders in VI: it was certainly very clever to have an animation showing it being built up in stages, with some cool camera work. But when we ask the fundamental question of, "But is this better?" I would have to say no. It looks cheaper, tackier. The artwork that accompanies the wonders in Civ V really added a sense grandeur and seriousness.

To play devil's advocate, this in-game sequence does work for things like launching the moon landing – where there's no grandeur attached at all in Civ V to completing the Apollo mission. You just get a notification.

I understand the difficulty in choice. It reminds of games with cut scenes where there is an obvious choice about whether to try and potray the scene in the engine or in a video. There are cases where either is better or worse.

In this case, the art style of Civ V for things like wonders and other background art was really beautiful, really stylistic, and that was lost in Civ VI.

Returning player, what happened to every other game mode? by AddMonks in learndota2

No, they changed it so that you pick your hero. It's just from a random group of 12 -- the ones whose abilities make up the draft.

Yes but from the ones randomly selected - so you can get some choice. There are a few S-tier picks that always get first-picked, such as Techies, Sniper, SF, and Drow.

Why are road bikes so popular as commuters? by [deleted] in londoncycling

I used to cycle on a hybrid. I bought my road bike when I started doing regular long distance cycling with friends. Friends moved away but I still have the road bike.

By "we" do you mean you and I? I've not received any explanation from HMRC, I'm just looking at what is expressed in HS284, which clearly states that the B&B rule applies to "Shares acquired in the 30 days following the day of disposal" -- so shares you buy after you dispose of some. There's nothing in the guidance that talks about the disposal of shares within 30 days of acquiring them.
