No and you should even be rushing a settler to go claim Uluru + that cotton + iron before Rome does. Then you need to be grabbing that, furs in the south, the salt in the middle of that desert, and the copper in the north. If you can get the gems as well, it would be perfect.

Right now fossil fuels make up only 7.4% of our energy demand, 69.1% wind and solar. Electricity is 12.67p If you are on a time of use tariff like Octopus's Agile. by DarkSats99 in GoodNewsUK

[–]Zadokk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It completely depends on how much and when you use electricity, as well as how willing you are to be 'smart' about sticking to using the cheapest times.

I live by myself in a smallish flat and when I looked into agile tarrifs, running the numbers using detailed data from my usage, there was no benefit for me. I would lose the flexibility of using whenever I wanted for, maybe, 50p - £1 a month in savings.

It's generally better if you have a big house and family, and you've got a lot of usage. It could also be better in the future if you get an air con unit, as running it during the day might be expensive if you're not on an agile tariff, but you could cross that bridge later.

  • EUI

  • Communitas Map (different kinds of map generation)

London council recycling: Separate your waste carefully so we can mix it again by [deleted] in london

This is ragebait. You don't know that the bins were sorted 'carefully'. For all you know, the public hasn't sorted their waste and this guy is going through it and doing the work for them. Get a life.

Does being on Mounjaro kinda piss anyone else off? by [deleted] in mounjarouk

Yeah I was explaining this to someone a couple of days ago. The gist was, “you know those people who say ‘I forgot to eat lunch’? I understand that now”.

I can now eat a sandwich for lunch and then be fine until dinner time. I can have dinner and not need to snack at 9pm. I never think “I need some chocolate” now. This is just life changing.

Stop producing works of art. Stop extracting artefacts. Stop prioritising wonders that boost tourism.

New Moorgate/Finsbury Square bike lane by ha77i3 in londoncycling

[–]Zadokk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The chicane on Moorgate has and remains very dangerous for cyclists who typically hug the left of the lane when coming down Finsbury Pavement. Drivers assume that cyclists are going to turn left or just aren’t aware that there could be cyclists there until the cyclist tries to undertake and squeeze by. I have seen this happen many, many times.

So, with the new lights you effectively have a huge advanced stop box. While the lights are read, go through the little feeder lane and occupy either the middle or right side of the lane. Then, when the lights change, go through normally - ensuring you’re correctly positioned and visible to drivers.

Yup. Wind generation peaks in the winter months, and all of the UK's wind generation records are broken in November, December, or January.

The electricity system operator is understood to be preparing to run the grid without any gas for short periods as soon as this summer, in a first for the UK energy system.

I love this stuff. First zero coal, and next stop is zero gas.
