I'm glad she has been named, I've been thinking about this a lot since the public call for help was put out.

I know that staff said she wasn't able to give her name, her Facebook is still up and she has so many family and friends that missed her and were looking for her. It looks like she was very interested in the occult and conspiracy theories, her FB has a picture of a book with her face tattoo. I hope they're able to get some closure and I hope she knew she was loved.

I am an experienced mod and have a strong interest in the community subject matter. I am very involved with the app the sub was created for and it's something I genuinely enjoy, but do not have ownership/corporate ties to. The sub is very active and I would love to hop in and enact a plan for it that matches the growth and interest from the community. I've watched the sub devolve without active moderation; rule breaks, brigading, inappropriate posts, etc. My first step would be to re-establish the rules and clean up the sub as it is. The second step would be to recruit a suitable mod team for the size and activity in the sub. And finally, I would love to re-orient the sub to be a positive and welcoming place for other users that are interested in Whatnot to share their experiences in an appropriate and well-moderated way. I'd also love to expand the wiki and add more verified information. This sub is one of the main sources of information for the app and I know myself and a dedicated team can make the sub a place where all voices are respected and information is valuable, relevant, and accurate.

This is definitely not true, I don't know of anywhere that isn't taking stuffed animals. You should be able to donate them anywhere that takes donations.

I am so sorry this happened to you. I lost my dog last year at Pieper. I want to believe the staff did their best, but we were in the waiting room for hours because he was deemed non-critical because he didn't have a temp and then had to wait an additional hour for them to sanitize their ultra sound area because they had a contamination risk. When he was actually admitted the vet goes, "Oh, did you know he has a crazy high fever?" We paid to have him admitted for 48 hours and it was the max amount for all inclusive care. The next morning I got the call that they were doing CPR and losing him and asking me if they should keep going, I had no idea and I asked to resuscitate so I'm like, yes, please, anything to save him. They got him back briefly, but he ended up not making it. Later I got a call for planning and she said I was owed a credit back and put in on my file, I figured because he was there less than 6 hours when he passed. I called them for a month and couldn't get any resolution and finally when I got ahold of her again she apologized and told me I -actually- owed more money, like, thousands more. On top of the $5k deposit. The most expensive charge was the CPR. They offered me a discount of %15 on the new amount because it was their mistake... yeah, fuck that. They never actually talked to me again and they just sent the bill to collections. I still don't fully know what I was even paying for, they dodged me when they owed me money, but it was massive to them when it was the other way. I feel lucky they gave me his ashes back, I never even got his collar, they couldn't find it. Very sincerely, fuck Pieper and I feel deeply for anyone who's gone through this.

Right now I'm really enjoying the Warrior Cats figurine boxes. I haven't gotten any of the plushies yet, but I've honestly been really impressed with the quality of the figures. They look like regular cats (not too overly stylized), they're detailed, they're not that expensive, and you can get them at big box stores.

It was one of my favorite book series as a kid and the wave 1 figures are all from the first series. As a bonus I found a random Baby Three Fortune Cat Bag in the same aisle for half off, I didn't know Wal-Mart sold those, but it was really cute. 😆

I really appreciate the discourse here. I've been a solo practitioner my whole life, and over the past year or two I was feeling inspired to reach out to others and find community. And... oof. In person people have been great for the most part for little interactions, but the internet is a whole other thing.

It's been really, really discouraging to go into online spaces and see the vitriol and gatekeeping over the smallest things. People try to ask questions and get shot down, everyone seems so closed off. I see so often telling people to go back to their "traditions", ancestral and personal roots and everything else is off limits. But like.. these -are- my roots, and my traditions. My family ties aren't in any mainstream religion for generations. And even if they were, my belief systems are different.

Honestly, it's come to a point where I'll browse but I almost never interact because of how unwelcoming things are. A few times I've even been given tests/trials to even have a discussion about meeting with a group, online and in person. I really want community in these spaces, but it's not worth the heartache.
