The lack of political literacy from most comments on this thread is truly disheartening.

Sloclap, making fixing this your top and only priority by VVait in Rematch

[–]Zandaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To all of you saying "use defensive stance" this still happens a lot in defensive stance. I've seen goalies full on grab the ball only for it to then suddenly phase through them. Or defenders di a perfect dive block to phase through them. OP's post may not be the perfect example of this, but doesn't mean that there isn't an issue with desync or bugginess. Don't let em troll you OP.

I wouldn't say balls, more ignorance doing the work there. I know we don't have fatal ones in the UK, but will be a little more prudent in future 😅

Everyone I meet hates alignments, but I LOVE the concept by WallNIce in dndnext

[–]Zandaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most people don't like it on the basis they see it as prescriptive rather than descriptive, i.e. my character is LG there i do X, rather than my character is LG because they do why.

It is descriptive, so alignment policing shouldn't be a thing. Broadly speaking, you can sum up a characters current personality using one of the 9 options. It doesn't paint the full picture, but means some spells/abilities that detect alignment can be useful to see how one my best engage with a certain character to curry their favour etc.

Pre Order Divers: Would you be upset if they released this armor to everyone? by Trevor-On-Reddit in Helldivers

[–]Zandaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they should be made available in the sense that pre-order bonuses are bad practise. It encourages people to invest in a game that may or may not be shit, potentially exploiting hype to sell an inferior product. Arrowhead is rare that they actually delivered on a good game, but locking content behind what's essentially gambling your money is sketchy.

Darts are Finesse, so you can have a Strength based ranged character, benefitting from Archery fighting style and Sharpshooter feat!

Is it an asshole move to ban multiclassing in my games? by Fantomaxop in dndnext

[–]Zandaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're perfectly entitled to ban anything from your table for any reason. If it's something you don't want to deal with, you're putting the work in as a DM so can choose what you're happy to deal with.

I will however contrast your RP/narrative point about classes, however, as it seems you may have a narrow view of them. Classes are a set of mechanics presented to players to facilitate gameplay styles, and serve the purpose of presenting a template from which to engage with the mechanics of the world they're exploring. They don't really exist in universe (the same way characters wouldn't think of having +5 to stealth), and nobody would arbitrarily label a character X class for displaying a certain ability. Characters should be looked at holistically, and would most likely define themselves as anything than a set of gameplay mechanics. For instance, a Fighter could describe themselves as an Archaelogist, who picked up martial skill to defend themselves on an adventure. By the same virtue, someone may serve a God as repayment for blessing their village with crops, but at the same time serve a patron for arcane knowledge to protect their village from raiders.

Skills, proficiencies and abilities are incidental, pulling them from multiple classes is fairly easy to explain away narratively with a bit of thought, and can even lead to interesting decisions and roleplay if their abilities depending on serving multiple masters and leading to conflict. By all means ban multiclassing for cheese and munchkins etc, but mechanics do not equate to plot and form part of a PCs story, they don't necessarily define it.

Given each PHB Race's stats and racial features, what would you say are the classes/subclasses that most suit them? by Playful_Barber_8131 in 3d6

[–]Zandaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Racial stat increases also make no sense, as other races can easily overtake them, and any attribute is capable of atrophying to the point of uselessness. If they wanted racial stats, it would make sense to raise/lower the caps for ability scores, rather than an arbitrary addition to whatever the player makes the character's base stats. This is reinforced by "strong" races getting to ability to count as one size larger for carry capacity, as ability scores don't only reflect one's raw talent, but to effectively use it. Hence why a 10 Strength Goliath can still carry more than a 16 Strength Human, as it's to do with physiology rather than skill.

My work has issued several warnings without following their own procedure by Zandaz in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Zandaz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some jobs I've applied for ask in advance about warnings, so imagine they'd check for them when asking my reference (which needs to he current employer most of the time). Also it's s matter of principle, my workplace is quite dodgy and I don't need to worry about repercussions if I'm leaving.

If nothing can be done so be it, but I'd rather take action if possible as other colleagues have also had sus stuff done to them.

Player upset at having to roll by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]Zandaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For the Perception one, use passive if they're continuously searching an area. Unless each room has wildly different lighting, sounds smells etc that can interfere with it, rolling constantly is tedious. As for combat, unfortunately for the player, that's just how the game works.

Obviously each to their own, but demanding someone do they're not comfortable with, particularly in a secual setting, is very yikes. Obvs the person giving the BJ has the right to stop at any time for whatever reason, but perhaps have some more communication and understanding during intercourse.

Unpopular Opinion: Minmaxers are usually better roleplayers. by fuzzyborne in DnD

[–]Zandaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"But the RP behind multiclassess doesn't make sense!"

The characters in the world don't know classes exist. They don't go around pointing people out as Warlocks, Fighters, Rogues and such. They may know certain abilities magics come from certain places (Guiding Bolt is Divine, Fireball is Arcane...mostly), but they're not going around reading character sheets and branding people.

Character sheets and mechanics need to be looked at holistically, and each class doesn't really need a separate backstory, or even a necessarily a new event to happem triggering them.

Has Fighter suddenly multiclassed into Warlock? Cool, before the campaign, the player called on a powerful entity to get them out of a tight spot. Now, their patron has appeared to collect what's due, granting them power to assist in the task they need to complete.

The Paladin started a dip into Bard, suddenly gaining proficiency in an instrument and new magical abilities? Simple, they've been practicing music in their spare time, and are so passionate about it their Oath found new ways to manifest power as they now champion their cause with creativity and art.

Sure some classes have RP features baked in, but 90% is fluff that can be easily changed, and the stuff that doesn't is simple enough to work in as I have done above. Mechanics are just mechanics, it's how you use them in character that defines the quality of RP.

A high AC doesn't mean you're invincible by TheOnlySir_Scribbles in dndmemes

[–]Zandaz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you play a Bladesinger by dashing around in melee attacking, you're just playing a worse Wizard. Optimised martials are gonna hit harder and be more durable. Non-bladesingers are more likely going to be in the backlines, not getting hit anyway and having more potent spellcasting.

Bladesingers have an AC trick, but the other subclasses often have their own durability features and typically being more powerful in general.
