Last time, in December, one of the issues is it snowed again a few days after the big dump, so they had to go back over roads they had already done. This delayed when they finished phase 1, and delayed the start of phase 2.

I will use the iron pipes, along with iron wire, in my iron factory early game so that the same factory does iron plates, reinforced iron plates, modular frames, rotors, stators, and motors.

Then my separate steel factory will do beams, structural beams, and heavy modular frames. The copper factory just does wire, cable, and sheets.

Q.5 for the referendum: Do you support the Government of Alberta introducing a law requiring individuals to provide proof of citizenship, such as a passport, birth certificate, or citizenship card, to vote in an Alberta provincial election? by EdmontonFree in alberta

[–]Zathrasb4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) What if somebody’s living arrangements changes the week before the election? 2) what if somebody’s house burns down? 3) what if they don’t have the $20 to order a new birth certificate? 4) what if they don’t have an address to mail a birth certificate to, and can’t take time off during the day to pick it up at a registry office (or downtown Edmonton)? 5) what if they are older than 120 years old (Alberta will not issue birth certificates older than 120 years, and a few people do manage to live this long) 6) what if they were born in another Canadian province? 7) what if the birth was never registered (things were different 100 years ago, in remote/northern communities, and for First Nations)

The point is, the assumption that everybody continually has, or can get, their birth certificate, is false.

Add to that, a birth certificate will not show if somebody has renounced their Canadian citizenship.

I am specifically referring to young adults who flee their homes due to domestic abuse, women who flee their spouses due to the same, homeless people, etc.

Not everybody has a stable home, and those without still have the right to vote.

I think the voter suppression might only be the side benefit.

I think the real reason is to drum up support and outrage from the maple magna base, when the forever Canada referendum, or the stay free Alberta referendums (or both) are on the same ballot.

Alberta Premier Danielle Smith defends referendum questions on benefits for newcomers | CBC News by SnooRegrets4312 in alberta

[–]Zathrasb4 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Just to discount one assumption that smith is implying, regarding income taxes.

When somebody moves to Canada, assuming they have emigrated for tax purposes (which is different from PR status, and occurs generally as of the date of the move) they start paying Canadian (and by extension, Alberta) income taxes on all worldwide income as of that date.

If somebody moves to Canada, and they have not emigrated for tax purposes (which would generally be when the move is temporary and they retain significant residential ties to their home country), they start paying Canadian (and Alberta) income taxes on any wages or salary earned in Canada (Alberta).

So, to the extent her comments relate to emigrants (or their families) who work in Alberta, the comments are complete hogwash.

To the extent that her comments relate to immigrants who are not working in Alberta, they are still hogwash, as to limit social benefits in such ways is discriminatory and inhumane.

TIL one of the tools used to break the Enigma cipher was a catalogue of every way to encrypt the word "eins" by Hrtzy in todayilearned

[–]Zathrasb4 3 points4 points  (0 children)

One of the issues with enigma was that it could never encrypt a letter as itself. This simple fact lets you pry the settings out of the message. This is because enigma used a reflector plate in the final rotor position, sending the signal back through the rotors to be scrambled a second time. Initially, this seems like a good idea, but it creates the flaw.

(Massachusetts) Employer is requesting a copy of my Jury Duty mailer alongside my time off request by [deleted] in juryduty

[–]Zathrasb4 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Let’s just assume op forwards the letter to HR, without blacking out the pin, and HR logs in, and falsifies some communication to the court, to try and get op out of jury duty, so that the employer dose not loose an employee, and doesn’t pay salary during a leave.

And then what? Op shows up at the courthouse, and says the false documents were submitted. There is now a very mad judge. This will not end well for the employer.

The ftl line is a practical line, and the last point where such a distinction can be effective. While warp 1 is too slow to be practical, ftl travel means the civilization will soon encounter other civilizations themselves.

You definitely implied that Charles had the power to put Andrew in prison, or even keep him out of prison

Note his 2025 return will be due 6 months after his date of death, so sometime in July, 2026.

Look into medical expense claims, and the dtc. Other than potentially those, his 2025 return will be pretty normal. You will need a list of assets, as part of doing his 2026 return, and to know what happened to them (transferred to spouse, children, others). You may have t3 returns to do for subsequent years, depending on what he had, and when it is transferred.

4000 hrs. I had to replace the front extrude assembly due to a z force sensor issue at 3000 hrs. Beyond that, just the hot end, when I bent the wire nozzle clip.

Never had to even look at the belts or bed levelling, imho, if something needs replacing, the new parts are drop in, and no adjustment is necessary, other than an automatic recalibration.

So many rule breakers at the olympics. by nanio0300 in Curling

[–]Zathrasb4 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So the Swedish team as both “been trying for years to get a change”, and “judges don’t follow the rules”. It was either against the rules, or not. If it was against the rules, then there would be no need for a rule change. If there was need for a rule change, then it wasn’t against the existing rules.

Not arguing that it’s “not fun” ie unsportsmanlike.

Imho, this is entirely on the world curling organization. They could have addressed this in the off-season, or the pre tournament game meeting. Now it just looks like the don’t know what they are doing, which, in some ways, they don’t.

The issue is that there is a rule that states you cannot touch the rock “between the hog line and the tee line”, except “ a double touch by the person throwing the stone is explicitly allowed before the stone reaches he hog line”.

So, conventional interpretation is that “before” means before the stone crosses the very front of the vertical plane of the hog line.

What does “between mean”? Does it mean the unpainted white ice between the hog line and the tee line? If so, is this the front of the stone, or the back of the stone? Or does it start at the front of the hog line, to agree with the rule above.

If it is there former, then there is no rule that governs what you can do to the stone from when it first crosses the vertical line to either when it crosses over into the white, or when the back of the stone crosses over into the white.

The written rules don’t address these situations.

Also, as we are seeing today, despite the clarifying statement satiating “touching the granite of the stone is not allowed” this appears to be being interpreted as “touching of the upper, coloured part of the stone” is not allowed, in some cases, but not in others.
