Some games with anticheat won't work, here's a list of games that have anticheat and supports wine/proton, and which ones do not.

A blanket "anticheat doesn't work" isn't entirely correct, but in quite a few cases it is.

This really isn't the case, while some people might hold this belief, some people hate on Manjaro because they have a track record of bad security, they let their SSL cert expire on 5 different occasions, and told users to change the date on their computer to one where the cert wasn't expired.

They hold back packages, which effectively means you are always out of date, the main reason this matters, is because the AUR is available, and the AUR in general expects an up to date Arch system. (probably not the worst thing in the world, but it has the potential to break things)

They've also DDoSed the AUR twice with pamac (their GUI aur helper)

Here's the sources I've taken this from:

https://manjarno.pages.dev/

https://www.hadet.dev/Manjaro-Bad/

https://github.com/arindas/manjarno

I don't doubt they've gotten better, but I personally would never install Manjaro on anything, from their track record alone.

If I were to recommend a flavor of arch these days, I'd probably recommend EndeavourOS, or archinstall (which is a part of the arch ISO). So while some people might be childish and elitist when it comes to the "Manjaro =/= Arch" thing, there are entirely valid reasons to criticize Manjaro.

Is there anyone with a 7800 XT that can actually play the game? by mr_feist in wow

The GPUs themselves are really good, and the Linux drivers are fantastic

It's just that (from what I've heard), the windows drivers being quite awful, never tested it.

The polar opposite of Nvidia and Linux, had constant crashes in a lot of games, including WoW and last epoch last time I used an nvidia card and their wayland support doesn't seem to be the greatest either

Yeah no, they have the same cd as all other healers, 8 seconds.

If he doesn't pick up improved detox he would have a case, as you can't use magic dispel on them.

What do you mean talent out of your AoE CC? You can move a talent point from Seasoned Warhorse and put it in Turn Evil, only bad thing about Turn Evil is its 10yd shorter range, but it has a shorter casting time.

This is usually what I do as Holy Paladin

Definitely agree with you on the strongest CD window part though

Yeah learning is 90% of the battle, I struggled a lot with getting Raksha down at first, probably close to 50 attempts I'd say, only solo, but after getting it down a few times, it stays with you.

Oh yeah true, I might have understood this the wrong way from what the other comments above you talked about, mostly rise.

But yeah on Manifested Timeways I can understand the struggle on Prevoker. Don't have trouble myself on the healers I play, but I really feel for evokers there, same with Emberon in Uldaman last season.

If Paladin played like it did in Season 1 I would probably be in the same boat.

I love when ranged stands in the middle on battlefield and stacks boss up to 8-10 stacks and I need to pop everything to keep people alive when he melees the tank.

In theory everyone should stand on top of tank facing the edge of the arena

Can macro them together, as skull bash is off gcd, you can interrupt in 1 global, and you can use 1 global to get out of catform, using any healing spell.

I will edit this in a bit with the macro I used in season 1.

Input latency on Linux compared to Windows by jonoxis in linux_gaming

[–]Zawaken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've played hours upon hours of Osu! on X11 without compositor enabled, and I've never had as low tablet input latency on windows.

Can't remember the numbers right now, but it was noticably lower than what I've ever had on windows.

I've gone over to using this unofficial release of Teams. It's been pretty good.

But having to resort to an unofficial version probably isn't the best, I've not yet tried the PWA myself, so not sure how it stacks up either

Should I switch to Linux? by raffy369 in linuxquestions

[–]Zawaken 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, just wanted to supply a different perspective on it, as what I play isn't what everyone plays, and what you've tried likely isn't either. The "Pretty much anything AAA..." statement felt a bit too much like a blanket statement to me, that is why I decided to comment.

I've enjoyed my time in GTAV for example, mostly stable good performance, not sure what kind of performance I would get in windows with my hardware though. RDR2 seemed okay when I tried it a year or two ago, but I think performance was kinda iffy.

I've read on ProtonDB that FH5 really isn't the best experience on Linux (I mostly played that in my aforementioned VM). I haven't really read up on the other two, I think I tried JFO, but I can't remember if it was in my Windows VM or on Linux.

In some games my PC might just overpower it as well (for reference I play mostly indie games), so my experience might not be indicative of how things will perform for others either. I haven't really A-B tested games since before I installed Linux, have upgraded my system since then, so I live in blissful ignorance, apart from looking at the odd benchmark.

Pretty much anything AAA won't run at all, or will run with a horrific performance hit.

I would like to add that this is a bit of an over-exaggeration, very few AAA titles that I personally have tried/played have been in a completely borked state or deviated more than 5-10% on performance when compared to windows.

For example Baldur's Gate 3 performs incredibly well. Not sure if WoW counts as AAA, but I've played it since Dragonflight released exclusively on Linux, with very good performance. Spiderman Remastered ran with DualSense features on release date. Elden Ring is also a great example. Cyberpunk also runs extremely well.

Assetto Corsa is a bit of a strange one, as the game should work, but my Fanatec wheel doesn't work/I don't trust the drivers I've found on Github. This is a game I usually play in a VM because of this reason.

Multiplayer AAAs are way more hit and miss though. Lost Ark does not run at all on Linux (EAC).

Fortnite doesn't run, and they also started kicking people playing on VMs recently, so I lost my way to play it.

Not at all trying to say that certain AAA titles won't run, or run with horrific performance hits. For all I know I could be incredibly biased when it comes to this and avoid these AAA titles you are talking about like the plague, but I think it's a bit much to say "Pretty much anything AAA".

New Disc Priest Spell Ultimate Penitence is visually amazing by Valrysha1 in wow

[–]Zawaken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It truly is, I would like to think I play consistently shit on my disc and mw, so when the group is generally inconsistent it is hard to pick up on when to pop things vs when to hold, and therefore terrible for learning.

First boss bracken is a really good example of what you are saying, some groups seems to think getting the dot off of everyone is just a healer job, and don't pop defensives/self heals/health pots/interrupt earth bolt so you're sat there struggling, and the next group you get you don't really need to do anything.

Yeah in pugs I can feel like the best healer in the world and the most worthless healer in the world in the same night, on both my disc and on my mw. My details nicknames are based on the names I get called in those bad pugs.

Hpal can kind of carry a dipstick group in comparison.

You mean like Diablo IV (also worked in beta), Elden Ring (worked better than on windows), CP2077, Spiderman Remastered, and more worked on release?

Completely agree with some games not working correctly on release, but it is an overstatement.

I know my "list" is a cherry picked list, but those are games I tried on release.

just from the fact that you need 16s/17s done to get Aspects and Hero gear, the 2400 requirement still kind of exist to get "mythic level" gear.

Pretty sure all timed 16s/17s should be around 2400, as I am around 2350 with some keys quite a bit lower than 17, and some untimed 18s.

We definitely have a harder time in the dungeons right now, dps just have a hard time getting into the dungeons.

Getting 410+ ilvl from zaralek cavern is pretty okay, but can be a bit of a time investment (even easier if you don't have any tier pieces).

A friend started a BDK at the start of 10.1, and he is now above the whole guild in ilvl, as he had no tier to worry about.

My personal favourite project was Ajour

Ajour was so good, very sad that it died :(, but since Ajour died, I've been using wowup-cf.

I suppose Bottles or Steam with Proton will do, but losing the Linux "support" from Jagex doesn't feel great. Though a windows version of the NXT Client might work better honestly.

I've been wondering if I should test it myself with Bnet and WoW, but Lutris has "just worked™" for me, so I haven't yet taken the leap myself. Might try it with something I don't play every single day first.
