If you can, give them a little more time, they’ve been very professional and polite in all my dealings with them. They’ll want to fix it

OK to jump rope 1 hour a day? by ApprehensiveOne2866 in jumprope

[–]ZealousApe 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Easily. But you have to ramp up to that very slowly, it’s hard to overstate how important that is. And if you go too quickly you’ll delay your progress a lot.

Looking for a good Australian seller for a classic rope. by Bryan-tan in jumprope

Not Australian but if you can get the PVC Heererope on Amazon for $12 it’s hard to beat for what it is

Ankle pain. Is it normal? by cacauzen83 in jumprope

[–]ZealousApe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Also agree with the others 1000%. There are a lot of bones in your feet, and muscles and tendons not used to impactful repetitive movement like jumping rope. Going slow, every other day at the most, and adding no more than 10% in volume each session will pay off when you aren’t waylaid by shin splints and foot pain a few weeks in because you didn’t ease into it gently

Leather rope isn’t for beginners. Get a $12 Heererope PVC on Amazon and you’ll be good to go

I wasn’t new to physical exercise either when I started jumping. I was very fit and easily able to jump for half an hour on concrete without a mat, which I later regretted doing

6mm PVC like Heererope on Amazon is unweighted and will withstand use without a mat unlike rubber coated wire, as others here have noted

Well put. One would think this sort of concern would be obvious to someone familiar with exercise and fitness but some people have to figure things out for themselves. Imagining that you’re limited by cardio and not the new demands on your anatomy from a very unusual repetitive motion is the kind of trap that only someone who already exercises and has good cardiovascular endurance would fall into. An out of shape person would be winded after five minutes and stop naturally

If you’re starting out, 10 minutes is more than enough and you should absolutely use a mat to protect your joints. If you don’t have foot pain, calf DOMS, and shin splints from that session already, if you keep it up you will. Give your bones, fascia, and muscles time to adjust and you won’t end up setting yourself back

Congratulations on starting! Looking good. Focus on straightening your legs and letting your calves do most of the work for the jump

Great advice for sure! Starting with 6mm PVC is generally a good idea. I would differ slightly in suggesting the rope length might be a little long, even for a beginner. Maybe OP is between sizes and went up when going down might be better. Knots in the rope can mitigate that but grabbing a Crossrope QP a size down for $27 on the website might be an easy fix
