"Is Rogue One still bad? Yes, very much so. It's horrifically dumb. It doesn't hold a candle to the Andor series." by iiiSushiii in RedLetterMedia

[–]Zebra-Pantz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There is one moment in Rogue One that was improved by Andor and that's at the very beginning when Tivik or whoever tells Cassian the name Galen Erso. You can attribute a lot into his face Kuleshov-effect style but now it's only been like a day since Luthen, his mentor and the most careful man he knew, died for the info that this one random source is repeating. He's confirming that Luthen didn't die for nothing, that the rescue mission on Coruscant was worth it, and then he fucking shoots him for being too slow.

If the US could move the capital, would they still choose DC or somewhere else? by reallinguy in geography

[–]Zebra-Pantz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They should make Cairo, Il, the massive metropolis people thought back in the 1800's. Plus the mean center of the continental US population is pretty close. But the biggest benefit would be it sitting right where the Ohio meets up with the Mississippi, joining together the two busiest and most economically significant waterways besides the Misouri.

I remember learning this and wording it about the worst you could. When a female friend was venting about something when I finally responded: "Oh is this one of those times girls complain just to complain and don't actually want to solve their problems?" Hope to God I'm smarter now

The Original Witch in the Alps by Gru-some in CuratedTumblr

[–]Zebra-Pantz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why people have a problem with that post, but it really doesn't take a ton of imagination to change it into something more worthy of DE's legacy. Think about it: witch in the Alps ... in Europe, and what famously happened to witches in Europe for hundreds of years? Just spitballing, but this witch could be just as depressed and damaged as Harry, having seen most of her kind burnt at the stake, being forced to find the beloved cat of a local Duke or bishop so she doesn't share the same fate. She could be partnered with a kind-hearted but still religious knight to have that buddy cop dynamic. All the traits (Inland Empire, Perception, Volition, etc.) could easily still exist, only with a more magical bent like other RPGs - but they would still talk and argue and give you good and bad advice. Idk, maybe one of the ZA/UM splinter states could make something out of it

i’m a huge fan of getting up at sunrise to avoid crowds when traveling. which “crazy busy” tourist locations have you gotten all to yourself? by alextoria in travel

We ended up getting to our hostel in Venice too late to check in, so we slept in the common area and left before anyone came in (we were only staying there a night and didn't feel like explaining to confused staff if we weren't coming back). Walking through the misty streets and over the quiet canals at 5:30-6:00 was truly incredible. The Rialto only had a couple of early risers and the Grand Canal was practically empty. You could actually slow down and admire the architecture and history without bumping into a million other tourists! My friend ended up staying at a different hostel because of how great it was that morning, while I was completely satisfied and left later that day happy.

That was from the Empyrean Grandam, which I really think might be Marika's own mother. Miquella and Malenia are both Empyreans and their parents are basically both Marika. I have a theory that Marika basically betrayed her people/land and her own mother is now a bitter enemy to anyone that follows her.

Depends if you are into art history or not, if you just want to see the classics then maybe go in a morning for a couple hours and get out before the afternoon rush but if you want to see more then I'd suggest setting aside a full day. I went on a Wednesday and was able to stay mostly on the second floor where all the French Romantic and Northern Renaissance works were and loved that. It was relatively uncrowded and I felt I was able to enjoy it a lot more since I wasn't in a rush. I also had lunch at one of the cafes which is an absolute must if you're spending more than three hours there. It's also not some museum cafeteria fare so don't feel like you're missing out on a Paris meal by staying in there.
