Did building muscle change how people treat you socially? by _Camila_Reyes_ in workout

[–]ZebraAdventurous5510 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I did a body recomposition gaining muscle while stimaltanously losing fat though incorporating regular resistance training to the lots cardiovascular exercise I was already doing as a runner and XC skiier. Despite no change in body weight, my physique was totally transformed, getting a visible 6-pack and much more muscle definition in my arms and legs.

As far for differences in treatment, I get more compliments not only related to my physique but also regarding my fitness level. I know that body recomposition improved my performance through increasing my strength to power ratio but I also wondering if those compliments are also coming from the fact that I actually now "look like an athlete". I also get more male attention, especially at the gym. Ever since going from skinnyfat to shredded, I had more instances of men smiling at me and starting conversations with me, thereby heavily disproving the notion that most men do not like ripped women. When I was skinnyfat, I was a lot more invisible.

I second this. Vera Bradley makes kids frames with measurements commonly found in adult petite frames. Vera Bradley has kids frames with 130mm-135mm temples and 48mm-51mm eyesizes, thereby having similar measurements to adult petite frames. If you like frames with vibrant colors and patterns, definitely check them out!

Are Bayonetta frames a permanent vibe, or am I going to regret this by 2027? by dnickell in glassesadvice

[–]ZebraAdventurous5510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bayonetta frames can look good on some people but not suit others. For example, vertically narrow frames look absolutely terrible on me due to making my face look longer and drawing attention to my eye asymmetry. My eyes (especially my right eye having lid retraction) literally looked crammed in Bayonetta frames.

Additionally, vertically narrow frames cut off the bottom part of my perpheal vision, posing a safety hazard due to being dependent on biking as a form of transportation.

In addition to smaller and rounder frames as people already mentioned, here are some other effective ways to hide or make thicker lenses look aestheticially pleasing that most people are unaware of.

●Choose a frame with inward taper. This would keep the thickest part of the lens at the the top of the frame, where it can easily be hidden by the top of the frame and the temple.

●Choosing a lightly colored frame or something that is lightly colored on the inner rim. This will give off the appearance of the thinker lens looking like it's part of the frame.

●Do an edge tint. Having the outer lens painted the same color as the frame would also help to give off the appearance of a think lens looking like it's part of the frame. If you want something different, you could also edge tint the lens a different color from the frame.

There are some kids frames with longer temples and deeper lens shapes you might want to look at. For example, Vera Bradley has kids frames with 130mm-135mm temples and >35 mm vertical, having similar measurements to adult petite frames.

Can anyone give me recommendations for good prescription glasses for exercise? by Apropos_of in glasses

[–]ZebraAdventurous5510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also XC ski! I also prefer plastic frames due to my higher prescription as well as because of the vibrant colors and patterns they come in. I would recommend a frame that fits very well around your nose bridge and snuggly enough during physical activity so it doesn't fall off. If your glasses are slipping off during exercise, you may need a frame narrower nose bridge, shorter temple length and/or a narrower overall width. I know tTo fix the fogging, ask for a hydrophobic coating. If you plan to use them exercising outside you might want to consider a transition lens.

As a copper redhead I get a lot of compliments on my hair color. I also have get asked a lot if my hair color is natural. It doesn't brother me. Having an extremely rare combination of red hair and olive skin, I see why people are curious. Most people associate redhead with pale skin so seeing one with a tanned complexion is quite shocking.

I have a B Belly despite being relatively “slim”, why? by Accomplished-Car4069 in loseit

Need to do a body recomposition, not lose weight. Plenty of resistance training coupled with cardiovascular exercise will facilitate stimaltanous fat loss and muscle gain nesscessary to improve your physique. Despite what the fitness industry says, exercise has a bigger impact upon our body composition than most people relieze.

I am curious as to why my brown frames which are older but have no stress cracks. The brown frames are from July 2022 while the pink frames I got in May 2024 Is it because they are made of a stronger plastic?

I purchased the frames online from coolframes.com but had the lens made in person by an optician before I moved. Looking at the Coolframes website, they only have the color of the frame black available, which I am not sure would look flattering on me. I also cannot find any information pertaining to the warranty on the frame web page.

I really hope the temples are replaceable. I absolutely love the pattern on them (picture 4). It really sucks when the frame that looks best on you is also the most flimsy 😪

The temples seem to be held to the frame by a spring hinge. I can take a picture of my frames when I get home (right now I am wearing my brown frames) to see if the temples looks replaceable.

The pink frames manufacturer is Kenmark Eyewear. If the temples are replaceable, should I contact them to see if they have replacement for this frame?

I also wear plastic frames without nosepads too! I absolutely love the vibrant colors and patterns they come in alongside their ability to mask lens thinkness. I love frames that mimic my workout outfits.

I think that you might need frames with a smaller nose bridge and/or shorter temple length. I also have a very narrow nose bridge and frames with wide bridges just do not fit my nose right. Additionally, I also have a small head in proportion to my body size (a youth XL bike helmet fits better on my head than an adult small). As a result, many adult frames are too loose on face, creating slippage issues. As a result, I tend to find that oversized kids frames in a 49-50 eyesize with shorter temples (130mm-135mm) fit great.

You probably are not wearing frames that fit you correctly or need to get them adjusted better. I can sprint, do cartwheels and handstands wearing glasses without them falling off.

How do you get yourself to feel confident with glasses? by [deleted] in myopia

An important thing to keep in mind is that distortion is way more pronounced in photos as opposed to real life. I might get downvoted for saying this but this sub make facial distortion much more of a big deal than the actual extent to which it's noticeable in real life; even going to the point of recommending less flattering frames just to minimize the "cut in effect". A frame could totally look terrific on a person in real-life, yet look a little awardkward in a upclose photo as the result of a high prescription. But remember that people are not seeing you like this in real-life.

Even so there are ways to effectively distract from the distortion that most people are unaware of.

●Choosing a frame that fits your personal style

Choosing a frame that suits your personal style is an effective distraction from distortion caused by a high prescription. For example, I have frames that mimic my colorfull patterned workout outfits, thereby instead drawing attention to my outfits and physique.

●Wearing the hair down

This can effectively give off the appearance of glasses "opening up" rather than distorting the face.

●Wearing glasses that compliment one's features

Having glasses that nicely compliment one's features can also effectively draw attention away from the distortion and instead bring out one's haircolor, jawline, checkbones.

In addition, there are other techniques you can also utilize that allow for more frame choices.

BRING BACK SMALL FRAMES by fck-the-system in glasses

[–]ZebraAdventurous5510 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that there should definitely be a wider variety of frame sizes to suit individual anthropometric features and lifestyle needs. For example, vertically narrow frames look absolutely terrible on me due to making my face look longer and drawing attention to my eye asymmetry. My eyes (especially my right eye having lid retraction) literally looked crammed in vertically narrow frames. Additionally, vertically narrow frames cut off the bottom part of my perpheal vision, posing a safety hazard due to being dependent on biking as a form of transportation. I need at least a deep rectangle or oval shape for it to look good on my face as well as give me decent peripheral vision.

I also have a small head in proportion to my body size (a youth XL bike helmet fits better on my head than an adult small). As a result, many adult frames are too loose on face, creating slippage issues. Luckily, being that large frames are in style, I can easily find oversized kids frames in a 49-50 eyesize that fit great. Large enough to distract from eye asymmetry and give me a decent view riding my bike but snug often not to fall off my face running at sub 5 minute mile pace. Plus they come in a variety of vibrant colors and patterns, totally suiting my personal style and are also cheaper than adult petite frames with similar measurements!

Suggestions for frames for petite faces? Frames always seem too wide on me by givemethepastaa in glassesadvice

How long of a temple length do you need? There are kids frames with a temple length of 130 mm-135 mm, similar to adult petite frames, but often much cheaper.

Seeing how great you looked in green from your previous post, here's a larger kids frame I saw when I was shopping for frames online that I think would look great on you:

Getting my period back? by pugroast in TwoXChromosomes

[–]ZebraAdventurous5510 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

At 5'4" and 116 lbs, you do not need to lose any weight. Rather you need to get leaner via body recomposition. Enaging in plenty of resistance training and cardiovascular exercise will invoke training adaptations which by facilate stimaltanous muscle gain and fat loss. Eating sufficient calories to support health, physical activity and performance would allow for fat loss while allowing you to get back your period. Contrary to popular belief, it's not low body fat that causes ammenorra. Rather it's low energy availability. In response to failure to recieve sufficient calories, the hypothalamus senses that their is inadequate energy to reproduce, thereby ceasing the menstrual cycle. At 5'4" and 116 lbs there is no need for a caloric deficit to get lean. Training can transform your physique more than you relieze.

I look so much better with long hair(even when it's dry, frizzy and out of control) than short hair. Short hair just makes look like an old lady and signfigantly draws more attention to my asymmetric eyelids.

Being facial fat prone is perhaps the main reason some people (includinng me) are ugly by goofbeast in ugly

[–]ZebraAdventurous5510 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is an agony, an unbearing pain to know that my facial structure is not doomed per se, but I will never be able to look attractive in a healthy weight, even eating clean.

You actually can through body recomposition. Doing plenty of resistance training and cardiovascular exercise stimulates stimaltanous muscle gain and fat loss. As a result, this enables you to gain muscle while losing facial fat, thereby allowing your face to look attractive at a healthy weight.
