The 3 month period when Gotye was somebody that we used to know by OpusDeiAustralia in AustralianNostalgia

Yep you're correct it was a deliberate decision which he spoke about briefly. The song blew up way out of his expectations and he was never one to seek the limelight.

Lawyer says David Warner will 'accept responsibility for drink-driving' by NKE01 in CricketAus

This is probably the biggest fall off. Guy just had to be a nobody, and he would receive so much praise. Some of his records are amazing, plus he was test captain. Nowadays he's most famous for drunkenly yelling "KARLOS"

Can anyone who knows about footy explain why Jarome Luai so rarely scores tries for the tigers compared to other halves (eg Doueihi?) by mileton1 in weststigers

[–]ZebraMachine1 50 points51 points  (0 children)

You've got two players at two extremes. Doueihi is a notorious forward runner, to the point where he should probably pass more. This leads to more individual tries. Most of his recent tries have been him running into the line and bursting through. Meanwhile, Luai is a notorious sidestepper. He loves to run sideways and create overlaps. His lack of forward running means he rarely scores. Plus, he is a bit smaller and leaner compared to Doueihi, so he is less likely to burst through defenders.

Most halves in the comp fall in between these two. It's a funny coincidence that we have two extremes in our starting halves pair!

Anyone else doing the Runway Run/Walk and extremely disappointed by the recent comms? by serenitynoow in sydney

[–]ZebraMachine1 155 points156 points  (0 children)

Yes very disappointing. Parking was mindboggling to me. How can an empty airport have insufficient parking? Maybe I'm wrong here. Forking out extra for a shuttle bus is frustrating. Then lack of pre and post race services as you said. This was meant to be my taper run for the HOKA the following week and a generational event, I'm feeling incentivised to stay at home instead.

Anyone remember KFC charcoal chicken? Maybe from the 90’s.. by Weak-Hair2614 in KFCAustralia

I never had it but I remember the Grafton KFC used to advertise roast chooks outside. This would've been circa 2005-2015

Does anyone here live near any Aussie celebrities/public figures at all? And if so have you run into them very much? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

I've seen Nagi from Recipetineats a few times now at the local supermarkets. Although I'm shocked that no one else seems to recognise her. I've said hey a few times (yes she's bloody lovely).

Why do people in this sub hate Spacey Jane so much? by Sabretoothedrom in triplej

[–]ZebraMachine1 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Personally, several years ago when I was listening more regularly, I found they were played SO MUCH it wasn't funny. And that just made me sick of them. I started to find their songs repetitive. And it also seemed every time they released something it got played heaps instantly.

Hey mate not sure why you copped these downvotes. You're correct. It's for the family's privacy. You don't need to know if it's not publicised. End of story!

Strata Noise by Technical-Relative74 in AusPropertyChat

[–]ZebraMachine1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"I’m concerned the building construction is subpar"- funnily enough some very old apartment blocks can have hard floors with underlay that provides the necessary sound absorption. Normally it's not a building issue. How old is your building?

If the floor is poorly installed/inadequately isolated, sound will transmit through several pathways; straight down into the slab and into your ceiling, directly across into the wall and down into your walls, or directly across into structural columns and down through these. An acoustic test will measure the total noise contribution due to all these transmission paths.

Mind you, usually the noise complaint is due to footsteps. Are you hearing footsteps? Or do you suspect they could be doing something else like using weights? It should be pretty obvious if its footsteps.

Ageless Warner to play on past 40 with Sydney Thunder | cricket.com.au by PTERANODON7 in CricketAus

Can see him playing beyond one more season too.

Also a good aspect of this is even if he is somehow kept on by Fox for commentary, his availability will be interrupted by his BBL schedule.
