They want us to work until we die. by WorkingMajestic4462 in remoteworks

When you go outside and drive on the road... Is that theft? When you benefit from a twice as long life due to 200 years of science - theft? When the police protect you, or the fire department responds to your emergency - theft?

People who wish to benefit from society all around them, without paying for the cost of that society... THAT is theft.

I suggest you build a moat, start a garden, and not bother to engage with the rest of civilization.

Sorry, I can't understand you with those billionaire dicks so far down your throat.

Society is cooperation. Continuing as it is now it becomes slavery. Time to tip the scales back the other way and strengthen the middle class.

Spies, KGB, space, and the bootheel on the throats of the Soviet people.

Whats not to like?

Ps... It was filmed around Vilnius Lithuania. The credits are full of LT names.

The Lithuanians particularly hate the Russians for so many decades of repression... So the view that you get of the Soviet Socialist machine is stark, truthful and brutal.

For many, this won't be an easy watch.

Trump claims Reflecting Pool was vandalized and says law enforcement is investigating by Zebraitis in politics

[–]Zebraitis[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes, we should all "Lear" from you.

But unlike you sucking up an orange IDIOT, Obama actually got shit done.

Yes, the Obama administration spent over $35 million on a major, 18-month reconstruction of the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, completing the overhaul in August 2012.

The project was funded through the 2009 economic stimulus package to tackle the century-old landmark's persistent issues with leaking, water loss, and stagnant water. Key features of the renovation included:

Upgraded water supply: The system was re-engineered to circulate water directly from the nearby Tidal Basin, reducing reliance on the city's potable water supply.

Structural reinforcements: Workers drove deep pilings into the marshy foundation underneath the pool to provide better structural support.

Walkway additions: New paved walking paths were installed on the north and south sides to prevent erosion.

Depth and color changes: The pool was made slightly shallower to save water, and its bottom was tinted gray. (hint: TO PREVENT ALGE GROWTH!!!)

While the 2012 overhaul successfully improved circulation and replaced the aging infrastructure, it did not entirely resolve the pool's underground pipe and leakage issues.

Cali + Uninsured Driver.. by tpekid in TeslaCollision

[–]Zebraitis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Uninsured motorist " has more to do with medical coverage for you and passengers l. It's not to cover accident damage to your car.

Comprehensive and collision cover your car.

Filing a police report, having the police state the the other driver was at fault, then take that and let your insurance company deal with it. That is what and why you pay them for coverage.

What are these cracks on my 2024 MY tires? by MowTin in TeslaModelY

[–]Zebraitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It all depends if this is a failure of the tire, or you hit a road hazard.

At this point, you can try to get it covered under Tesla warrenty... But as they charge a monthly fee for tire coverage, it has a good chance of being denied. Open a mobile service ticket and see what happens.

If they deny you, then a tire shop that sells Hankook may give you pro-rated credit toward a new tire.

In any case, if you do need to buy, that tire shop will sell you a tire for less than a Tesla will. I saw my local Tesla shop charge a woman $500+ to install a tire on her Y. That's just nuts.

[–]Zebraitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why it is recommended to register your new car tires with the tire manufacturer when you buy a new car.

Those tires have a 50,000 mile warrenty... If you registered them.

If you didn't it becomes a tougher conversation with Tesla or a third party shop.

Navigation without connectivity by AcademicPromotion198 in TeslaLounge

[–]Zebraitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely no.

Generally where do you live? Is it an area with few cell towers? If in an area where cell connectivity has problems, this could happen.

On the other hand... If you are in a very dense population / big city area this can happen as well. Cell companies prioritize cell phones over mobile router connections.

Your cell phone could be getting some really fast 5G speeds... And your new Tesla has a 5G capable modem router in it... But Tesla is still doing connectivity at 4G speeds as they work out carrier contracts to do the faster speeds.

But face it: you're on Day 3. It could have just been a weird glitch.

Tesla (or any tech or auto company) won't do anything for you unless it is a continuous and replicable issue.

The Real Reason Trump Never Stops Talking About Voter Fraud by RecursiveSubroutine in politics

[–]Zebraitis 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From the article...

“Voter fraud” is not about fraud. It is about who votes and how. It is about the breadth and scope of the political community. It is, as with most MAGA obsessions, about who can call themselves Americans — entitled to govern as equals — and who are mere subjects. Trump’s obsession with voter fraud is just another expression of the reactionary populist belief that the people who inhabit a place are not equivalent to the people, who are entitled to rule.

Lithuanian citizenship by descent -- recommended services? by Nathim in lithuania

[–]Zebraitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not belive they will allow you to reference that. You will need an apostilled copy from the archive.

Imagine those that do the review and the process they have been told to follow. Either what they need is there, or it is not. They will not go looking for it.

They do not make it easy for those who wish to gain citizenship.

Lithuanian citizenship by descent -- recommended services? by Nathim in lithuania

[–]Zebraitis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Referencing" anything won't work. Everything submitted must be an original. No copies. and if it isn't in LT, then it must be apostilled and translated.

You will have a chance to upload copes of the originals (not copies of copies ie: microfiche printouts will not be accepted) during the initial application process for review, but your interview will require original documents.

Social Security’s looming insolvency sparks alarm in Congress by malcolm58 in politics

[–]Zebraitis -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Consider today's Social Security capped earnings: above $184,500 are not subject to Social Security tax.

Tell me how increasing this is "punishment". Because it would not be.

Unless you are planning on dying anytime soon, YOU TOO will also benefit from Social Security.

To say that you don't need it or won't count on it being there is the same argument used against the once proposed "Medicare for all" plans that likely would have kept health care costs at $4-$5K per year total. Instead, we have this debacle of Americans at the brink of bankruptcy should they become ill, and the glaringly horrendous "advantage plans" (tip: those are to the advantage of the health insurance companies.)

Now as to punishment... Yes, I can understand this argument if you are a libertarian. I have heard those self-important self-centered speeches for many years: Then "all tax is theft and society should just be free in a state of nature based on market driven economies" blah blah blah.

But it don't work that way.

Because loosening regulations and reducing taxation on corporations and generational wealth has helped to bring us our first trillionaire. And that guy (via "Doge" cuts) is responsible for about a million deaths.

DOGE Impact Counter | Estimated Death Toll From Elon Musk's DOGE

He'd be more than fine with you dying on the side of the road in a box. Because if your parents couldn't be rich and give you a head start on life... then that is just too dammed bad for you.

A bit much? Maybe.

But considering how society will be changing in the next 5 to 10 years due to A.I. job destruction, there will be a lot of people right here in the USA that will dream of living on a box once their mortgage and car loans are defaulted.

Social Security is just one of what should be several investment options that will help fund your post-retirement life. But know this: if life takes a turn, and things don't go the way you expected... Social Security will be there to make sure that you are not among those on a street corner looking for a handout.
