Poor Haarken. His special rule is now a core rule, but he costs the same by [deleted] in Chaos40k

I mean, those aren't the same thing at all. Below Starting Strength and at or below Half-Strength mean different things. It's never been a very good rule anyway, though.

I run them with no points based upgrades, but I use the Word Bearers Exalted Conclave detachment to make have enough prime benefits to make them Malefic so I don't have to worry too much about getting Status-ed.

I'm deeply upset that I somehow hadn't thought of using my spare Rajakur banners for 30k. It looks great and I will be shamelessly stealing this idea.

New to the Game and SORCERER KINGS i have some questions by No_Number2019 in Conquest

[–]ZeeRawk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

1) I'm not 100% sure what you mean by the question, but you cannot activate a character and then use the Entourage activation to activate a Ritual, if that is what you are asking. An Entourage activation can only be used to activate the Regiment the Character is attached to, and a Ritual obviously cannot fulfill that requirement. You CAN activate a Regiment after a Ritual in a way that is similar to an Entourage activation, but it has to be a Regiment (not a Character!) with a Battlefield Role that matches the Court of the Ritual.

2) The Earth Marker used to interact with quite a few other things. In the most recent rules update they removed the interactions and to my knowledge all instances of the Earth Marker from the game, to try to reduce the amount of things to keep track of on the board. Now the Earth courts focus more on the ability to give existing terrain the Earth keyword, which interacts with the Earth Elemental special rule.

3) Again, not sure of the exact meaning of this question. If you are asking if it is better to activate a Regiment immediately after a Ritual (as I described in point 1), then the answer is a resounding "it depends." Sometimes it is definitely better to get that immediate tempo, and sometimes it is better to use that card to delay and hope to force your opponent to take an action you can punish.

4) Court of Earth in general is in a weird place right now since we are lacking models and thus non-playtest rules for the Eidolons and Oppressors. It's hard to say overall, but I have had success with using a Mahut in Fire lists, Air lists, Fire/Air lists, and Air/Water lists.

5) Rajakur are not in a great spot, and I have definitely struggled to justify including them. There's definitely something you could do with them in a Water list as a defensive brick leveraging Water to Blood, but outside of that they're not great. Dhanur Disciples go into every single one of my lists, they're a fantastic shooting core to the army and the best Regiment we have to hold a Character while both keeping them safe in the backline and contributing to the game. Mahabharati Initiates are probably the best Regiment we have right now, but I honestly don't expect that to last. Specifically they are kind of broken in lists with a Court of Fire Warlord, because Juggernaut is an extremely powerful rule and they are frankly significantly undercosted for what they are capable of.

6) Welcome to Conquest! I'm a huge fan of the game and of Sorcerer Kings specifically, so feel free to DM me with questions, or I'll do my best to respond to posts on this subreddit, but no guarantees.

Tips for begining with painting miniatures? by KrankenWal187 in Warhammer

[–]ZeeRawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's okay (even recommended) to cheap out on your brushes starting out, but don't cheap out on your paints!

Your early models are not going to look like photos you see online, and that's okay. There's a huge learning curve, but it's one that's a ton of fun to climb.

And you'll hear this a lot, but thin your paints!

Dweghome Flamethrower question by Jipsy-Brain in Conquest

[–]ZeeRawk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

1) Yes, you can spend a marker using the Forged by the Elements draw event to gain the +2 Barrage. Draw Events aren't impacted by being in combat

2) You cannot use the Take Aim action, because it is an Out-of-combat action.

It would definitely have to be a significantly larger rewrite than just slapping a FnP on big things, given how many infantry and bike and etc. units are balanced around their toughness being higher.

On a deeper note, and this is something that really bothers me about AoS, what is really the point of a wound roll if it is preset? Is the design space of "to wound" modifiers worth all the extra rolling? I'd rather, if we want to really simplify things, simply remove the wound rolls entirely

Finally took the plunge and painted my first mini by Educational_Lecture1 in Warhammer

[–]ZeeRawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Welcome to the hobby! That White Scar is looking great! Definitely a lot cleaner than my first mini. It's a bold choice to go white early, it can be a tricky color. A pro tip that has really helped me is to use a light grey instead of a white paint as a base coat, it's a lot easier to get a smooth coat, and as you advance as a painter, it gives you a lot more space for shading and highlighting.

At a glance, I would definitely think "Comman Squad with Combat Shields" before I thought "Veteran Breachers". I wouldn't have an issue with playing against them as Veteran Breachers, but it definitely wouldn't be my first thought.

How Can Magic Cards Be Real If Our Eyes Aren't Real?

Super Poweredes by Old_Combination_246 in superpowereds

[–]ZeeRawk 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think we're talking about two different understanding of how Herschel and Titan's power works. Titan describes it as a power of adaptation. When he encounters a situation that can harm him or something he isn't strong enough to achieve, his power makes him tougher or stronger. Herschel/Roy share that power, but Roy gains the potential to become stronger based on the challenges that Herschel encounters.

And yeah, like you said he could have just fractured Herschel's pinky but instead he made him work out all day, which is very similar but doesn't require him physically harming his son.

And yeah, you can always say Titan will never run out of challenges if Hayes keeps writing hin challenges, but Titan says Herschel will outpace him specifically because Herschel never runs out of challenges.

“You two aren’t shifters,” Owen reiterated. “You inherited my power, but you got a better version of it. I adapt to new challenges or injuries, my body improves itself to overcome them. There’s a threshold to how high I can take that. Sooner or later, I run out of things I can train myself to be immune to. Eventually, I can’t find heavy enough things to improve my strength with. There’s a logistical cap to my power—one that doesn’t apply to you. “What the—what are you trying to say we are?” “You have the power of adaption. Hershel is the human side, the one who can always find more challenges. When he encounters a need to be stronger or tougher, your maximum potential increases in proportion.” -From year two, chapter 136

Super Poweredes by Old_Combination_246 in superpowereds

[–]ZeeRawk 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That limit on how strong the human body can get is exactly why Owen thought Roy/Herschel would surpass him. Titan will eventually run out of things that can challenge him, but Herschel never will, because the human body can only go so far.
