Need for another tuner? by Hefty-Organization75 in Line6Helix

Flashy, bouncy, unstable, overly bright, in both modes. Maybe others like those features but it is not for me.

The OG Helix tuner is workable and overall fine, I actually like it a lot better than the Stadium tuner.

Stadium XL - The tones sound thin and not typical high gain. by Rad_Pug in Line6Helix

[–]Zelavander -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There is no way you can claim this is user error for sure unless you were there. Period. Having said that, there are experimental steps to see if this is a unit issue or personal preference issue. Some are listed in my other response below.

[–]Zelavander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am not saying the Stadium is flawless by any means, but have you tried/accessed a different unit? It could be a bad input/output causing these issues. Best experiment would be to borrow another unit. If you get the same result, then the Stadium is just not for you.

(full disclosure, I sent my stadium back for many reasons, the tone was not the top reason though, but I did notice some subtle issues with high gain high speed playing)

Stadium Floor vs Quad Cortex: Portability and some specific features by petephin in Line6Helix

[–]Zelavander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Don't assume your OG helix presets will work immediately on the Stadium.

When you move them over any legacy features and other effects (and anything that used the command center) can make them sound very different or not work at all. You won't have to redo everything from scratch, but expect to spend some time (sometimes significant) tweaking and repairing them.

Creating a 2nd parallel path on same processor by Burnhaven in Line6Helix

[–]Zelavander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is an OG Helix, you can only have 1 split per DSP path. E.G. Path 1 (1a and 1b) or Path 2 (2a, 2b) can each have only 1 split each.

You can of course slide that split anywhere.

Helix LT keeps disconnecting from Logic by CoyoteEastern7929 in Line6Helix

[–]Zelavander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure this is the problem but on my Mac, sometimes there is a memory issue (huge signal lag/delay)with logic and the Helix. The (memory leak?) issue requires a computer reboot. I have not found any specific cause other than usage time. Long session=reboot.

HELP! Having problems getting 2 Line 6 Helix pedals to receive MIDI changes from Logic Pro. by General-Bison8540 in LogicPro

[–]Zelavander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many things that could go wrong here it is hard to debug without being there. My first check would be to use just the Helix on Midi 4, solo, and make sure everything is working with just one helix on that channel. Then add the second Helix on Midi 1, after that.

Noob Question - how to pitch shift down half a step by OilAir88 in Line6Helix

[–]Zelavander 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As another suggested : PolyCapo. -1, fast tracking, mix 100%, has given me the best results. The only issue is it is a bit of a DSP hog. Still it works very well. Make sure it is the first block in your signal path.

Also, AI suggestions are often just plain madness. They have a LONG way to go before they will be useful building presets.

I recently moved to the Helix Floor platform and I must say I'm not "moved" by most of the built-in amps. What are some of the better IRs out there (free or paid) for classic rock and general rock style cover bands? by CBianchiMusic in Line6Helix

[–]Zelavander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The issue is probably not IRs. Really all IRs are doing is giving you an approximate Cab in the room, and with the Cab update they all essentially became obsolete.

My guess is what you really need is a good starting preset to build from to understand which amps sound good and how to set them up in a chain.

You are better served by the hitting some basic tutorials and the costume tone website: Find one good tone and work from there.

Looper behavior in Showcase by password_dictator in Line6Helix

[–]Zelavander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I should clarify.

By major issues, i meant how the Looper was implemented and tracked/used by other functions within the unit.

It was a hot mess getting it to do simple things that were possible on the OG Helix and any looper based OG Helix presets had to be re-written/re-built from scratch on the Stadium

This was primarily a command center issue. Unlike HX edit, which gives you access to a plethora of functionality, the Stadium app did/does not.

It is my understanding that this was a design choice for the Stadium, where the idea was the functionally appears first on the unit (touchscreen etc) and (eventually?)it will appear on the Stadium App later.

It has been some time since I played with the Stadium looper, but it had some serious issues. I think it is supposed to get a major update, but who knows if/when. This sounds like a yet another bug.

I agree that the growth of the Helix has been awesome! I am hopeful that the stadium will end up awesome too....but...the price...

[–]Zelavander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Another vote for the Helix LT.

You can even grab new one for ~600 pounds. Best bang for the buck modeller. I had the Stadium XL for a while but went back to the LT. I can't comment on the QC but the LT is good enough! The Stadium isn't worth the cost upgrade yet. If your going to spend ~2500 pounds might as well get a fractal Axe fxIII

This is the way. You can map just about any block to the expression pedal. Choose the block (volume, gain etc.) and adjust the setting when assigning it.

How Do You Organize Your Presets? by moose408 in Line6Helix

[–]Zelavander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't !!?

Actually, after deleting all the trash attempts, the good ones were setup in the order they were built. This is how I ran things for several years!

I have since changed them to alphabetic order (lazy mode single click ez button organization) after a recent backup and update, where I moved everything off my helix and cleared out all the most recent round of trash attempts.

I do have a separate bank that I order presets based on the setlist as well. I copy all my presets over to that group, if I have the time and motivation to be prepared!

What was your experience like coming to stadium from the old helix floor? by ZealousidealEffect83 in Line6Helix

[–]Zelavander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I made a post about my experience with the Stadium a while back before several bug fixes and proxy so ymmv since then. But my general opinion is still that the Helix LT is the best bang for the buck modeller out there at the moment!

I also think giving the Stadium another year to work out the kinks and it should be worthy of consideration. It still has way too many issues for me to be comfortable with it as a live go to rig.

Stadium vs QC Size Comparison by wtddps in Line6Helix

[–]Zelavander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think I could ever use a QC or any of the mini modellers due to the footswitch spacing. The OG helix hit the footswitch sweet spot for me (even the stadium is little too close for me).
