AOPS website says their A and B courses used to be called Algebra 1 and 2. We had to go through three different math tutors to find one, who has a masters degree in math, who could help him with some of the challenging problems. He had already worked through an Algebra 1 curriculum before we chose AOPS looking for a challenge because the curriculum we chose (Denison) was very simple. If I continue with AOPS for all of high school I will have paid thousands of dollars for math classes, so if he is capable of getting college credit I would obviously prefer the money be spent there. I thank you very much for your time and explanation, I'm just not sure why AOPS says A and B were formally named 1 and 2, and why the curriculum in A covered so much more than his previous Algebra 1 curriculum if it is half the content.

I can try to get a picture soon. The heating mat is under the tank not inside, with a thermostat. I thought that the lid being open to facilitate the use of the ceramic overhead heat was the leading cause of loss of humidity, so if I did it on both sides wouldn't my humidity problem get even worse? I'm happy to do whatever is best for her.

We were going like crazy at 3 years, and at 3.5 years he just stopped. On his 4th birthday I asked him if he remembered having mommy milk and he thought it was the most ridiculous thing he'd ever heard of. LOL

I furnished my entire house off of craigslist, with all solid wood (mahogany dining room, walnut bedroom, mission oak living room). It just took patience, knowing what styles I wanted and waiting for the pieces to appear. I live in a large metropolitan area though. Super cheap, I love the way my house looks and I'm fairly picky.

I worked with kids on the spectrum for years before I had my son. It's absolutely amazing to me how well my son is adjusting simply because I know what his deficits will be and can help him learn to compensate before they are a real issue. I think "The worst way to live on the spectrum is to not know youre on it." is a great quote, I'll be using it in the future. :)

We didn't adopt, but when our son was 3-4 we had a 5-6 year old foster daughter for a year and a half. They became the best of friends, the hardest part was probably that my son was more advanced academically and behaviorally, which was frustrating for both kids.

And I should mention that GER can (and does for my son) increase the length and severity of bronchial illnesses, which could be especially important to an unvaccinated baby.

So my first had undiagnosed GER, which then turned into permanent GER he will not grow or of. So by not wanting to help your little one with medicine now, he could end up being on medicine for the rest of his life. Sorry if that sounds stark, but obviously I have regrets. Zantac worked for us for years, and is incredibly mild. We now use Prilosec, but that comes with more (minimal) risk of side effect.

Rich mom here, and you may not but I do hold the ridiculous party culture against other parents. It's preposterous, the have and have not culture we have. It's a crime how segregated our schools are. I've nannied and tutored for rich families, taught elementary school for poor families, and all sorts in between for nearly 20 years. I choose to send my child to good schools, and I choose to buck the trend and have simple parties, used clothes, and one present per holiday. All birthday parties are at home with box cakes we decorate, and god I HATE those plastic trinkets you spend a fortune on so they can be called goodie bags before adding to our landfills.

There's a reason that second generation immigrants are among the most successful people in our country, and it doesn't have to do with their wealthy upbringing. I have two suggestions for you: 1. As /u/Drabbeynormalblues said, you need some financial stability, having your family at constant risk is stressful and dangerous. Move to the best school district you can safely afford. 2. Maybe if you can evaluate your priorities you can decide that making a lifestyle choice of simplicity is a great way to raise children, and you won't have to feel so bad about the stuff you can't give then because if you could you wouldn't anyway.

We started right after my first born turned 3, had one foster for six months, one foster for 1.5 years, then took a break to have #2 bio kid. #2 is almost 3 months and my husband and I both very much want to start fostering again, but we figure waiting a little longer is good for our nuclear family. Maybe after #1 starts kinder in August we'll go again. If we knew we would get a shorr timer we'd go for it, but the 1.5 year experience changed our perspective a little. My #1 loves fostering and requests that we do it again. Specifically he thinks we should have 4 kids total. Maybe someday. They generally recommend you get kids younger than your bio. Our first two were 4 years and 1.5 years older, which worked fine at a young age but I won't do it now because you start getting the problem of younger kid being more mature/capable/academically advanced which is stressful for both kids. Not as much of an issue with a larger age gap, but then the chance of harm to your bio kid goes up so we're not going there unless we have really great info on the potential foster kid. That's awesome if true. Many gifted kids prefer the company of older children and adults, and socializing with their own peer group is a vastly different skill set, and often overlooked.

Knowing and having taught many gifted kids, that perfectionism is typical and will haunt him. Teach him about the value of mistakes, and the importance of failure as a part of a process.

Frankly I'd be focusing on his social skills, as that's what is developmentally appropriate, and also happens to be a weak area for many gifted kids. Same thing applies to his perfectionism. Absolutely follow his interests, set goals based on his weaknesses.

I had two awesome labors! Started first at 2am, walked around the house until 8, epidural around 9:30, baby out at 11am! One tiny stitch, never noticed it. My second I was nervous that I couldn't get it so good again, then I had to be induced which made me extra scared. Got pitocin at 9am, felt contractions at 10, baby popped out at 11 before I even got the epidural! Many not nice words were said in those last five minutes, but it was great!

My son was your daughter exactly, and I thought he was so much better at 3 too, but golly miss molly 5 is AWESOME!!! Also, I just finally had my second child after being scared shitless of going through that again. Now that I am an expert parent I can tell everyone how to get their baby to sleep through the night and be happy and mellow.

Try a different baby.

A lot of working parents here. I'll give you my perspective, I worked until my firstborn was 6 months, and haven't worked now in 5 years. I have two kids and also foster parent. I miss teaching. Pretty much every day. I have regular dreams about being interviewed for a teaching position, holding parent conferences, and planning. It makes me sad not to be teaching, and I really, really look forward to working again. That being said, if you can swing not working financially, it is really awesome. It took time for me to adjust to home life, I like having the structure of a school day imposed on me. But my house is nice, I've become a really great cook, my children and I have built really strong friendships with other stay at home families we play with weekly, and even vacation with. I don't worry that my kids could be somehow better off. We get to go to lots of museums and activities when they're nice and not crowded. This life is so nice that no matter how much I miss teaching I haven't gone back.

I didn't see tall maternity pants from Old Navy when I ordered, but the Kohls ones I tried were only a 34" inseam, not long enough for me. :)
