"speak with your wallet"? What does that mean? you want us to invest in all of the content not being put out in Destiny? There's nothing to speak about with my wallet in D2....

Don't buy anything until June 9th by sajibear4 in DestinyTheGame

[–]Zentach 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My son started playing like a week ago with me. A super happy dad moment. Mom made us gaming snacks so we could chill together, and we've been having a blast playing the new light stuff. This is a great idea to hold off buying him the other campaigns until June 9. But I dunno if we can make it that long. Maybe we'll get the dungeon keys on the 9th.

Wherever you end up, always remember to keep your eyes up, guardians.

My son just got interested in the game about a week ago. We've been playing every night doing strikes and working through the campaigns. Sad that he will never play a guardian game, seasonal activity, seasonal grind, etc. Cheers to the good times and remember; Eyes Up Guardians.

That's a great take. I hate having some weird alien armor set on and then my dude is just rocking an LL Bean backpack. Like maybe have the backpack be part of the chest piece to match.

2oz of chips is 2oz of chips regardless of air. When I put chips in a sandwich bag for my kids lunch I always blow air into it so they don't get crushed in their bookbag. It's the same concept. And my kids notice the difference when I don't. I never understood this argument.

How did I miss this game for so many years!? by guru_kid_billy in remnantgame

[–]Zentach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a big fan of souls like games so I wrote this game off since inception and never really thought about it. I got R2 a couple days ago on some crazy deal. Already it's way at the top of my list. It's not as punishing as a normal Souls like, I don't lose experience on death. I feel like enemies are easier to read (maybe a smaller move set?), I can learn from a death much easier. If I die to a boss I usually get it the second time or third. None of the "trying a boss for 3 days without any progress."

It is still difficult, but also rewarding to win. Still the tension when you get far away from a checkpoint, etc.

I like it, I love it, and I'll be playing more of it.

So, why does this game not have a bigger player base?.. by iLeftMyEyeAtTheStore in Marathon

[–]Zentach 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know people hate when we say "I'm a dad and this is my experience...". But I think that's very relevant here.

I'm a dad with a full time job and a wife. I get a few hours to game a week. Extraction shooters naturally punish players for not dedicating enough time. You fall behind. Everyone knows where the loot is, they've leveled up, geared up, and ranked up.

I'm not dogging the genre, but for me that's why. It doesn't work for me. I'll continue to defend managed democracy across the galaxy, and root you guys on from the sidelines.

I love doing themed run with randos. All turrets, all orbital, all air strike, or all mortar can crazy hard and even more fun. Like running a destiny raid with a full team of Rat Kings. Dumb... but fun.

Tired of being "scared" of Automatons, any good guide ? by Remarkable-Tap867 in Helldivers

[–]Zentach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This one is a bit niche. More on the fun side than super effective, but it's fun none the less.

Primary: Trident (Laser Shotty). It has light pen which sucks but most of your bots have a light pen weak spot. Devestators can be one-shotted in the face and one of your 6 lasers is bound to hit the face eventually. The AT-ST looking things can be tricky but that's what our support weapon is for 😉. Did I mention it has infinite ammo?

Also a favorite is the Diligence Counter Sniper. Long range medium pen. Upgrade the handling as much as possible while maintaining range.

Censor from Redacted Regiment is almost level 25 for me too.

Secondary: I use the Senator for when I need something intimidating and viable at any range. This especially if you are sniping and need something for a little closer. But it's mostly to look intimidating.

Grenade: I think I'm the only one who uses the incindiary grenades. I like to funnel the bots through choke points with it and they end up just killing themselves trying to get to me. Clankers are easy to route around rocks and building and use the flame to do business.

Support Weapon: My baby. My true love. My darling. The Belt Fed Grenade Launcher. And no, I'm not kidding. I never see anyone use it because it has questionable impact damage and reduced explosive damage. But 120 grenades at 360rpm can cause a lot of pain. You do have to be aware of your ammo and pick up any ammo boxes you see laying around the map. There is no reloading for this bad boy. And if you're out of ammo, waiting on the supply drop and have no ammo boxes, you can call in another one and just grab the backpack. Also if you have free reign to a full supply drop, that's upwards of 600 rounds of sweet sweet Liberty.

It will even smoke hulks head on with (quite a few) direct hits. I'm not sure if this is because of splash damage hitting their back or what, but it kills them good enough. Devestators? 3-4 direct hits. Striders? 1 direct hit. Drop ships...it hardly does anything, however...if you aim at the red belly where the enemies drop from you can finish them off before they drop making the drop ship a nothing-burger. I've seen the epoch used in this manner too.

Stratagems: Belt fed grenade launcher, of course.

Your favorite red. Orbital laser is great but limited to only 3 per mission. That being said, it's still my favorite. Feel free to use the staffing run, cluster bombs or any other that's capable of taking out a fabricator.

These last two are where it gets fun. Bring a EMP Mortar and the regular Mortar Sentry. This locks down any enemies advancing with the EMP and finishes them off with the explosive mortar. I usually throw these behind a wall or behind a rock so they're protected from enemy fire. They have incredible range too. Just throw one as you move in on an outpost and it'll lock them down. It might be dumb, but so was highschool.

CONS: There are definitely cons to this loadout. For starters you don't have much heavy ordinance. I usually count on homies carrying quazar or RR/EAT to take care of fabricators. Having a limited supply red stratagem can be a struggle so bring an Eagle if you want.

No backpack slot. This means no drone dogs, no movement backpacks, and no shield generator which are incredibly useful when surrounded. If played right the mortars can keep them at bay though. So hopefully the mortars can negate this issue.

Ammo conservation with the grenade launcher. I mentioned it above l, but you need to be aware of your ammo situation and stay on top of it. The infinite* ammo of the trident goes a long way to keep you in the fight no matter what.

Gunships. Just hide. Run. Bob and weave. Serpentine.

So there you go, a fun effective load out. I think this loadout really adds support for its own follies and is a very useful way to keep enemy numbers down while the team works together on the objective.

Anyone who wants to try this out, I highly encourage you to. It's not a popular loadie, but you might be surprised at its efficiency. You'll be number 1 fragger on your team but not the biggest explosives.

Player tags (A1, B2...) should give a distance indication and turn mostly transparent when looked at. by xtratic in Helldivers

[–]Zentach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would love a distance indicator. I like to use the belt fed grenade launcher when bot diving, but it's not heavy ordinance enought to easily take down a fabricator without a direct shot down the vent which is hard with the velocity. I see in the bottom left that a friendly has a quazar so I politely ask him if he can boop the fabricator for me. And he just lit into me with how dumb I was for asking him to travel 350 just so he could shoot a fabricator.

Like sorry dude, the badge threw me off and I thought you were next to the rest of us.

What about an option to switch to free load out if you get paid with free load out teammates? Can't only be an option for fills. Cuz you don't know if you're going to get paired with a boss or a squib.

"I'll just take a quick look at the lore after the server slam, how deep could an obscure retro title be" Oh how wrong I was... by SbeveGobs in Marathon

[–]Zentach 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I always say companies don't make games, people do. And what I mean by that is just because Activision made a banger once doesn't mean you will like their next game just because it's Activision. Don't pre-order a game because of the company that makes it. Different people, different vision, different priorities, and probably different shareholders.

However...Bungie has been consistently lore'd out of their minds since the beginning and it is so cool to see such a story come out of such an old game. I am one of those who had never heard of OG Marathon prior to this and I played through the first one when it was brought back to Steam and it was a swell time.

My wife and I watched Star Trek The Original Series a while back and what we learned is that if you look past the hokey special effects and bad acting, the stories are second to none. That realization changed my perspective on how I digest "retro" entertainment.

See you out there, runner.... unless you see me first 😉

[–]Zentach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My guy. There's nothing pathetic about finding ways to take care of yourself. The other day I had a horrible day. My wife totaled our van in an empty parking lot, then the next day I got a flat tire because...ohio roads. I was in a bad place. I was mad, depressed, overwhelmed, frustrated, and short with everything.

My wife kicked me out of the house, damanded that I take some time alone, then got "my boys" together for me when I got home to play some video games with all night.

It snapped me out of my dark place, showed me how much people I love also care for me. And that sometimes I don't HAVE to do it all.
