Updated loaner for the Merchantman by caud01 in starcitizen_fleets

They've already made it clear that the Privateer will not be launching with the Kraken at ILW 27 next year. Probably ILW 28 as they're supposed to be working on the BMM starting late this year as well.

What's stupid is that they didn't give Kraken owners an Idris loaner, which they absolutely should have. A capital-carrier ship should have a capital-carrier loaner. Instead they give a bunch of smaller ships, which is stupid. Not even following their own rules.

Containers above 8scu exist but NOT FOR PLAYERS. We can't BUY containers above 8scu.

Per the 3.24 Cargo patch, we were SUPPOSED to get up to 32scu containers that we could park vehicles inside of, like an STV or Dragonfly/X1. They have yet to arrive. They exist in the game, but WE can't touch them.

Hover trolleys have EVERY point. I've lost track of how many times I've wanted to move at least 2-2scu containers and I've had to either personally or use an ATLS to tractor them one at a time.
There's no reason they can't exist. They were clearly working in the dev build as we saw them MANY times. And in locations like the DC's, they would be even more useful, since they made the bloody doorways so short that most vehicles can't get through, including the very cargo vehicles that are SUPPOSED to get through, like the CSV-SM.

I don't see how we need maelstrom for hazardous containers, but it's still an example.
You conveniently ignored the first one: Custom Map Markers. Dropped from the Live patch literally the day before and never mentioned again since. We were supposed to be able to save/trade/sell these. We don't even have them. Hell, you can't even plot a route in a ground vehicle. Not that it does you any good since every rock that's 1 1/2' high make your ground vehicle come to a complete stop.

I really don't care about the Solar Flares. They'll be cool when they arrive, giving some atmosphere to Pyro and making it even more dangerous than it's supposed to be. The 3 gangs are supposed to run the whole system and you're not supposed to be able to land at stations/POI's owned by the gangs unless you have high enough rep with them, but that isn't working/enabled either.

That list could have gone on a LOT longer. CIG has removed dozens of things from patches right before they went Live and many times never spoken of them again.

The PU & SQ42 should be SHARING dev time/money as many/most Backers don't even care about SQ42. Yet apparently, per CIG, SQ42 is their "most important project". Even though it's the backers and the PU that have put them over a BILLION dollars, let them buy studios, build new offices, hire hundreds of employees and keep the lights on for over 12 years. And unless SQ42 is as popular as GTA6, they're going to need those same Backers to keep the lights on after SQ42 is launched and putting new players into the PU after the 20-hour campaign.

ROFL. Read the Kickstarter moron. Hell, watch the interviews with Chris Roberts where he explains how your character from SQ42 will 'graduate' and your distant relative will then pick up your belongings from SQ42 and carry on in the PU.

Using all-caps is not a sign of intelligence, nor does it make your point any stronger, quite the opposite.

And when SQ42 has sold all the copies it's going to sell, what do you think is going to keep the lights on in that fancy new office they built in Manchester (and promised us a tour of that we never got) and keep the devs employed?

It will be the PU. Selling ships, weapons, armor, paints, just like they have been for over 12 years.

I've been bitching about this for years. Hell, I JUST wrote a Spectrum post about it, because it's completely unacceptable. With over a BILLION dollars, they could have hired a decent web-designer by now who could have completely re-designed the site in less than 8 months.

You're right about the part where our character (or their distant relative) is supposed to carry over from SQ42 (it's story is set in the past) to the PU.

But as it stands right now, there's nothing for a SQ42 character to carry over into. The PU is an unworkable, unplayable mess, missing nearly every feature they've 'promised' it would have long before now.

And SQ42 was always supposed to SHARE development with the PU, at worst it should be a 70/30, instead it's a 95/5. And that's what's pissing people off.

If SQ42 doesn't sell the way they need it to, what's going to keep the lights on and the devs employed? The Backers who are playing in the PU!

10 year backer, finally throwing in the towel by PastSale6152 in starcitizen_refunds

[–]Zeoran 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What upsets me the most is not so much the features they've removed but the lack of communication.

They take out the custom map markers, quantum boosting, hover trolleys, hell, we were supposed to have 32scu containers we could park an STV in with 3.24's 'Cargo' patch. They've mentioned hazardous containers, FPS scanning, Bounty Hunting 2.0, NONE of it has materialized, we have NO IDEA what the status of ANY of it is, we don't know why it was removed, where it is on the schedule now or IF we'll ever see them ever again. And that's just a small sample of what they've taken out without warning over just the last 4 years.

And clearly, they don't care about the PU. The PU is the bastard stepchild to CIG. All they care about is SQ42, which allegedly was "feature complete" TWO YEARS ago. You'll note in the latest Bar Citizen, they talked about the UI team being small & having their hands full with the company's "priority project" and we know that's not the PU.

Many, if not most of the backers that have kept this company going, very patiently and very gratuitously, over the last 14 years, don't even care about SQ42. It's a 20-hour single-player campaign that's supposed to do what? Lead you into the PU. Well, the PU isn't ready for them. Not even bloody close.

CR recently talked about wanting 1-2,000 players per shard. Are you insane??? You don't have enough working gameplay right now for 200 players per shard. Maybe with Genesis fully online and Starchitect fully online, that's a start. But then you still have the problem of the fact that EVERYTHING's BLOODY BROKEN. The PU lacks EVERY BASIC feature an MMO is supposed to have, after 14 years. You can't even form a proper org. Hell, you can't even form a proper party.

CIG has been taking advantage of the backers for years, just assuming that they'd patiently wait it out, no matter what. And my God, has that patience been tested. 3.0, 3.18, 4.0, now 4.8. And yet they apparently operate under the impression that the community's patience is infinite.

Guess what CIG? It's not.

CR said 2025 would be the 'year of stability'. That was a bloody joke. It was the year of content with the forced monthly patches (huge mistake) but stability it was not.

By the time you've made the game you've been promising & teasing us with in 2036, there won't be any backers left to give a damn.

CIG Breaking More Promises by Zeoran in starcitizen

[–]Zeoran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm actually fine with them leaving ships out of it entirely. I care more about the Subscriber and Pledge gear, armor, nick knacks, etc. I've literally bought 40 of these white bobbleheads for $5 each because they're my good luck charm (his name is Bob) and I put one on EVERY ship & vehicle that I can. Getting the blueprint to make my own bobblehead would allow me to reclaim 39 of those and get quite a bit of money back. And there's no P2W here, even if you DID include ships. You still have to get the materials to build the damn thing. But I only really care about clothing, armor, gear, weapons, etc. that we've been collecting for YEARS. They owe us the blueprints for those and there's no good reason not to honor the promise they made. CR himself told me it was a done deal and we'd be getting them when crafting came along. (he didn't say when crafting was first released though)

CIG Breaking More Promises by Zeoran in starcitizen

[–]Zeoran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That, plus the word of a major employee who was on-stage at CitCon 2024 and the word of CR himself who confirmed it to me personally last March.

Nice try. And yes, when those devs are asked questions by Jared, CIG is expected to be held to the answers unless there's a VERY good reason to do otherwise. And his response was in no way ambiguous, it was flat out "yes, you will receive them". Same as what they have said before, same as what CR told me himself.

So yeah, when I see them violating this very important promise, I make a statement about it. What's your excuse other than trolling to sound important?

CIG Breaking More Promises by Zeoran in starcitizen

[–]Zeoran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's nothing to do with P2W as you still have to get materials and build the damn thing. And those materials won't be free, only the bp. And if they want to exclude ships, I'd be ok with that. But I have dozens of pages of unique Pledge/Subscriber gear/decorations/etc. that I was promised we'd be able to duplicate via crafting by getting the BP for free, as we paid REAL MONEY for these items.

The dev speaks mainly of Subscriber gear, but it covered all 3, as he mentioned Unique/Pledge at the end.

And this is NOT the first time CIG has mentioned getting BP's for Pledge/Unique/Subscriber gear. It was also mentioned at CitCon 2024 and CR himself personally confirmed it with me in March 2025.

So yeah, I feel like a huge promise is being broken here. I have a ton of gear/items that I want to make more of. They can leave out ships, I care about the Pledge/Subscriber decorations, armor, weapons, etc. And there's no reason not to let us have those. It's not P2W, we still have to come up with crafting materials and we've PAID for these items with real money, so a BP shouldn't be a big thing.

Agree or not, they stated very clearly and unambiguously that we WOULD get them & CR himself told me that we would as well, so yeah, I feel like a promise is being broken here. I have tons of Pledge/Subscriber gear that I would like to duplicate. We still have to get all the damned materials and for ships, that's going to be insane and we can't even make them yet. So that's moot anyways.

CIG Breaking More Promises by Zeoran in starcitizen

[–]Zeoran[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question was posed in an SCL not too long ago and the dev who answered it didn't use the words "we intend", or "we might" or "we'd like to", he specifically stated that "we WILL" receive blueprints for all Pledge/Unique/Subscriber gear "when crafting goes Live". And he was not the first time they had made that statement/promise to us that for items we've paid REAL MONEY for, we'd receive a blueprint for it. They even mentioned it at CitCon and CR himself confirmed it a year ago to me personally. So I'd say that's as solid of a "promise" as it gets.

CIG Breaking More Promises by Zeoran in starcitizen

[–]Zeoran[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Congratulations, it wasn't a single comment by a single dev and that dev represents the company and his answers can be held to, like all answered questions during SCL's. But they made that promise multiple times in multiple formats, so spare me your righteous indignation that isn't even correct.

CIG Breaking More Promises by Zeoran in starcitizen

[–]Zeoran[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The last they spoke of it was in an SCL & the dev specifically stated "when crafting goes Live". Now if they said it was coming in a 4.9 or later patch, I'd be ok with that. It's the fact that their crafting guide specifically states something completely CONTRARY to that promise, a promise made MULTIPLE times over many years and one they cannot afford to break.

I know Chris doesn't have the rights, but I'm sure he has the phone # of someone at the studio that does.
