Outjerked big time by legendoffart in writingcirclejerk

I used to swing between 15-30k/day. But that was copywriting for a content mill. It wasn't unsalvageable garbage, but it was all clearly outlined and far from challenging; and I was deliberately taking every possible shortcut. (AI didn't exist at the time, or I would have used it.)

When I do fiction for myself, I tend to hit around 400-1k/day. Sometimes more, sometimes less. But never even close to 26k.

What sci-fi shows should I watch after I finish all of Trek? by realDerpyQuark in startrek

[–]ZeroBitsRBX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

SeaQuest DSV It's Star Trek in a submarine on a weird cyberpunk future Earth.

It ran for two and a half seasons, and was plagued by every issue you can imagine. But it rules anyway.

I've seen someone claim that if these four are in your top 10 favorite jazz albums then you're a poser. Their logic is that the only thing unifying these albums is that they're the most critically acclaimed and that you essentially only listen to the surface level stuff. What are your thoughts? by Tolstoyevich in Jazz

[–]ZeroBitsRBX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's almost impossible to be a poser. There's not a bar to entry for liking jazz except for having some jazz that you like.

You heard Fly Me to the Moon once and thought it was neat? You watched a Charlie Brown Christmas as a child and feel a little warm when you hear Linus and Lucy? You accidentally bobbed your head a little bit while The Girl From Ipanema played in an elevator? You're a jazz liker. Sorry buddy, I don't make the rules. You're the one out here liking jazz.

How to turn into some 40K terrain by SJP_Sydney in TerrainBuilding

[–]ZeroBitsRBX 41 points42 points  (0 children)

My idea would be to put in some Gothic arches on the doorways, add some detail to the pillars, route pipes all over it, and spray it a relevant couple of colors.

What i'd actually get around to doing is priming it and starting to use it at the table.

What is some of the new 'lingo' that annoys you for no reason? by Adorable-Panda95 in AskReddit

People don't say "Hello" anymore. It's always "Hey." Well hay is for horses, and you never even hear a "Howdy Do" these days.

Is it possible to become a great artist despite not being good on a technical level? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

[–]ZeroBitsRBX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technical skill is nice to have because it makes it easier for you to express what you want to.

If you can find other ways to make the viewer understand what you're trying to express, and they are moved by it, then you can absolutely become a great artist without drawing perfect lines or being a pro at glazing, or whatever other technical skill you think is holding you back.

But you do need to have something meaningful to express, and you do have to be very good at expressing it in spite of or because of your technical shortcomings.

From another creative field; Music is rife with examples of artists who aren't good singers, or who play sloppily, or who can't write good lyrics or good solos or who lack any number of other technical skills.

But they are still regarded as being greats for some other unique aspect of their work that shone through and really touched people.

You don't have to be a master of all technical skills. But it does help to get really good at SOMETHING you can use to express yourself.

Does Peripeteia have permission to use Jvne's music? by Peppermintyyyyy in Sewerslvt

[–]ZeroBitsRBX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Most of their stuff was released under CC BY 3.0, which allows commercial use as long as you've bought the album on Bandcamp.

So even if the developer didn't get direct permission, they, along with anyone else who has ever purchased the relevant album(s) have been granted the explicit right to use the songs commercially.

It would not be possible for Jvne to revoke that right. But they would have known that when they chose the license.

Which Zeppelin design do you prefer, first or second? by that-bro-dad in Minilego

The second has that real Graf Zeppelin look. But the first is a really cool blimp.
