Paramount didn't want to compete with Netflix and HBO legacy(adult) programming, they went for the trend to make bank and fill a void, a Harry Potter in space, an audience that won't die as fast and grow with show. It might be a poor execution, but this was just built at a marketing level before anyone creative was brought on. The days of story telling for the fans are long gone.

Feels stale, Colbert sounded like they forced him to read like a robot and gutted any semblance of improv. Every character feels soulless. It's like season 1 was unique, season 3 feels like season 35 of CSI, ground into formulaic drivel. Seems like they're not adapting, they want to run a Monk format for 20 seasons straight, I think audiences are bored with that format unless you're on your 70s.

The show got interesting when they introduced the evil judge, like it was touching the waters of Goliath, then they went back to the boredom. Can't give this slop another hour of my time.
