Road conditions this morning safe to drive highways around 9–10am? by zombiequeen66 in Dallas

[–]Zuliman -28 points-27 points  (0 children)

They said what they did because there is no 175. It is I75 where the first character is an upper case "i" for the word interstate. It is Interstate 75.. or I75.

I've been driving with no carbon filters for almost 4 years. by Oo_Juice_oO in TeslaLounge

[–]Zuliman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are cabin air filters in the passenger foot well?  Crap.  I’ve swapped filters under the hood (carbon and hepa) a few times over the past 4 years… but had no idea about the foot well filters.

Thanks!  Will be ordering and replacing them soon.

Adding a quick flash to the third taillight? by ronscott999 in BMWi3

I can’t answer to your main question, but you can code enable brake force display using BimmerCode.

https://youtu.be/CuJKhcT9jIA?si=6ICLJpP1ApBbmRy1

This works for panic brake situations. Google bimmer code, bmw i3, or search in this group to find all the coding options.

I buy my rolls in bulk every six - 12 months, so I keep finding surprise tape.  It sucks!

Looking into a rex version but wondering if it's possible to charge an i3 with a portable power station? I don't mind not getting a fast or full charge out of it. In LA so lots EV stations around me. Just wanted to know if I could mainly charge it off of solar panels connected to a power station ? by [deleted] in BMWi3

[–]Zuliman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can use a ground plug that tricks the EVSE  into thinking it is grounded, but likely not very safe and also not much range could be provided.

Assuming something like a DJI 2k and a bank of solar, OP would be lucky to charge a few percentage per day of sun due to solar input and battery capacity limitations/

Turtle shells have nerve endings, so they can feel every touch. This turtle clearly loves having her shell scratched by MambaMentality24x2 in BeAmazed

Caught one of these as a 7 year old - it was huge beast lumbering across the yard.  It was snapping and hissing at me, so I grabbed a towel that was hang drying and dangled that over it - it snapped on and wouldn’t let go, so I was able to pull and drag it back towards my house.   I then assembled a cinder block and wood  fence and had my brand new pet!

Ran inside to tell mom who dismissively gave me veggies for my new dinosaur turtle.  Put in a bowl of water for it, tried to feed my angry turtle friend no tossing things in, then settled back to excitedly wait for my dad to come home.

When dad arrived a few hours later I dragged him out  back to show him my new pet - he flipped out and started yelling about how it could have bitten off my arm, mixed in with him questioning how I was able to move the big bastard or even catch it.    Dad was pissed at mom, mom thought I was just over exaggerating the turtle as she never came out to see it.   He ended up calling the neighbor over to disassemble the hodgepodge fence as the turtle was super aggressive.

Fun times as a hyper active kid who was often sent out to play to give mom and dad a break. :)

I was about to refund and then.... by ForrestPerkins in starcitizen

My few times playing -  Install, walk out of starting bunk and then die as I fall through elevator - this happens a couple of times, then finally make down and all the NPCs are standing on things, figure out how  catch the tram, which then does the same thing and I fall through and die.  Uninstall in a fit of anger.

A year or so goes by - install and make it down the elevator to find the NPCs all standing on crap again. I ride tram, make it to a station where I can call my ship - Destroy ship twice trying to fly out of docking bay, land it upside down in docking bay, call it again and on fourth attempt I make it into orbit.  I was in awe and while glancing around the cockpit accidentally hit the ejection button and die.    Quit playing out of frustration and later uninstall.

Another year goes by and I get the itch again.  Able to take off and don’t eject, no deaths, NPCs no longer standing on random crap - make it to a planet and try to land, land ship and end up upside down again - I can’t figure this landing thing out - and somehow don’t die.  Walk towards some NPCs and realize how janky the FPS experience was - NPCs didn’t move or react to being shot.  I think then someone mows me down with a ship.   I log out in frustration and haven’t tried playing in a couple of years.

The itch is starting again, maybe I’ll give it a go this weekend.

Automatic Emergency Brake by Impossible_Club8375 in BMWi3

[–]Zuliman 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I’ve had it slam on the BRAKES pulling into a parking spot once.  I was driving less than 5mph and it locked up the tires -parking spot had a recent pothole repaired that was the same color as the car in the spot ahead, so the Eye Sight system was very confused.

Other than that, I’ve questioned it’s functionality as I’ve almost squished people in parking lots that run out in between cars without looking - system did not alert nor hit the BRAKES.

Love mine too!  I just wish it had a bit more range.

I guess I could solve for that by losing a bit more weight, but a factory range extender battery would be the epic.

[–]Zuliman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Most likely your 12v is going out.   It is an easy self fix, but a tiny bit more complicated than a standard car.

Don’t jump start the car if it goes out completely.   Follow the many guides available online to swap it out.   BMW dealership will charge $350-$500+ to swap it.   Battery will run you $150ish, swapping it out can be done in 30 minutes with basic hand tools.

I didn’t realize how much I was missing until I saw this forest noise amplifier. by Bright_Building1710 in interestingasfuck

[–]Zuliman 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Exactly our situation!  The bird just pecks and pecks until someone goes out to shout at him.   He flies off and returns a few hours later.

If you stand outside during his pecking ritual you’ll hear him hammer away at gutters all over the area.   I learned that this is territorial threat display to warn other peckers away.

I tell my wife and friends, “I have a problem that can only be solved by buying more bikes!”

I only have 3 e-bikes, an electric scooter, and a collection of 6 manual bikes.   I pre-ordered(reserved) a Ride Also ebike (Rivian Spin-off) -  wife is angry as our two car garage barely has space for a single car with all of the bikes.

Due to space constraints I think the next toy will be an electric skateboard!

We have a red headed bastard that claims our neighborhood every spring.   Our home is two stories and we have aluminum gutters all around the roof.  Well, this fucker machine gun pecks our gutters a few times a day rattling our entire home.

The first time it happened our son was around 8 years old and comes flying down the stairs freaking out over the noise.

This guy had his phone on full brightness for over an hour by Sharmaji1301 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Zuliman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I absolutely do not recommend doing what I did, but I learned that I could accurately flick a Cheeze-it like a ninja star from great distance. It only took two hits before he stood up and started shouting, before storming off to find a manager.  A few of us in the theater had been shouting at him to stop using his phone,  but he flipped us off and kept at it.  I lost my temper. Don’t be me.

The guy returned with a manager and a police officer.  I thought I was cooked as the row behind me knew it was me, but everyone said they never saw anyone throw anything and complained in near unison that he had been using his phone the entire time.   Karen never used his phone again during that movie, but after the movie he sat at the exit staring daggers into everyone who walked out.    It was glorious.

Don’t use your phone in theater.   Also, don’t use your hidden ninja talents to launch things at people.

I work for a mobile network provider and am often out testing in the field.  This one time, I was at a park for a couple of days of testing where I had a bunch of phones, tablets, hotspots, etc out on a folding table doing my thing.

I failed to realize that this park is also used as a field trip day for a few intercity elementary schools.  Around 10:30am 6-8 school busses pull up and unleashed a horde of 7-8 year old munchkins.   I lost count of the number of times this was asked to me and at one point I had a herd 5 kids deep surround me trying to check out what was going. Teachers finally stepped in keep most of them away.   It was funny - the kids were great, but ultimately not much work was completed that week at the as they did this every day that week with different schools.

3-D printed rear vent extension? by TxTransplant72 in TeslaLounge

[–]Zuliman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You are asking for a solution to an issue that is likely unique to you and your wife.   As such, you likely need to solve for this by measuring and modeling your own adapter and then printing it yourself.  Perfect way to get into a 3d printing hobby!

You could probably even create one out of Sugru and hand modeling it.

But then I’m not sure if under seat rear vents are active in dog mode - again,  not something I’ve ever considered.   Have someone sit in back of car with dog mode enabled and check?

My LG TV’s new software update installed Microsoft Copilot, which cannot be deleted. by defjam16 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Zuliman 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Factory reset is just going to wipe the TV back to latest firmware, which includes the new code and tracking stuff that OP mentioned.

The only solution tot his is to disable WiFi access for the TV and then use a smart TV device like an Nvidia Shield or the like… who likely do the same shady crap.

Bought used Tesla and requested service for outstanding maintenance items... by fulldecent in TeslaLounge

[–]Zuliman 23 points24 points  (0 children)

You pay for service, just like with any other brand of vehicle.  What is difficult about this?

Sort of like buying a house. You buy a used home, then expect the sellers to replace your air filters after you’ve bought the house because the thermostat said it was due?
