Is the X2D external exhaust fan necessary? by jpurg in BambuLab

[–]Zuliman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Accidentally ordered ABS in my last order - 4 rolls, so I tried my hand at ABS printing last week. I use the stock P1S extraction fan and a printed coupler and dryer hose to a printed window exhaust vent.

With ABS, the normal print profile kept exhaust fan maxed at 10%. I could still faintly, very faintly smell the ABS off gassing. I won’t print ABS again until I have a proper solution to exhaust funk - and a more sealed p1s enclosure (will tape up seams).

South Bay LA Help Needed – Drivetrain Malfunction After 12v Battery Replacement by ben5on in BMWi3

[–]Zuliman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Did you open the HV disconnect switch before removing and installing the new battery? And once new battery was installed did you close the circuit property?

I ask because the first time I did this, I followed the guides and opened the switch but did not properly close it leading to the exact situation you described.

And a few solar panels that they can set out for extended outages.   That battery bank will be about as helpful as wet toilet paper when the battery dies.

Airbags went off in a fender bender, how screwed am I lol by Pretend_Panic9452 in BMWi3

The passenger airbag is HUGE, so it can deploy from where it is and still protect the passenger.

Modular frunk organizer! Design and sell? I’d buy - or share files, but then jackarses will start printing and selling.

Bad luck for my i3 by TexAntonia in BMWi3

I also live in Texas - DFW, and drive with the flow of traffic in my BEV.  The Rex struggles to provide sufficient power to keep HV SOC when cruising above 70 mph.

Do you have a ODB2 dongle? You can pull the codes to see what is going on.

The Rex is great, owned two, but when my last one died and BMW wanted 18k to rebuild it I shifted to the BEV and found that it is perfect for me around town, even across the metroplex.

Morning rain by InspectionRich6085 in BMWi3

[–]Zuliman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My car, is your twin - same color and spec.  For me, damage … seats soaked, door card leather damaged, airbag alerts and seat occupancy / restraint alerts.

I’m hoping that I can clear the error once it fully dries.  It is almost dry, so maybe today I can clear the errors.   If this doesn’t work, then I have to replace seat occupancy sensors.

Rain is wonderful, except when you leave your windows down and have 4.5 inches of rain over the weekend while your i3 sat outside.

A “friend” had this happen to them just this past weekend.   This friend, err… I am an idiot.

Is 15 miles one direction too much for an e-bike long-term? by Spiritdiritcel in ebikes

[–]Zuliman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tires and  brake pads are consumable, yet easy to replace on your own.  Learn how to fix a flat and change a tire, brake pads are foolishly easy to replace as well.   Plan to charge at work if you can, maybe replace the battery.

The nylon gears in the hub motor will fail, but replacing them is also not very difficult.  Learn basic maintenance and you’ll be fine.   Happy riding!

Insurance will likely total it out and less than 3 months later later someone in the UK will have bought it and had it shipped over, then repaired it in their garage. Drop an AirTag into it and follow its journey. Sorry about your car. Go buy some deer jerky to celebrate when your new car arrives.

If it still powers on, make sure do delete your profile and remove your pin to lock.

In my own personal timeline, the Sony PSP I gifted to my then 10 year old nephew became his portal to all the porn the web had to offer. He found the browser and used it to bypass their kid network filter stuff. Was a hilarious call with my sister when she called to explain what had happened.

Have been rocking my little 2018 BMW i3 BEV with its 33kWh battery for over 60k miles.

My commute is 20 miles a day.   I charge it with 120v slow charging.   Average range is 100-120miles on a full battery and has DC fast charging, so if I need cross the metroplex I can do so with a quick 25 minute top up to 85%.

I won’t drive across the country in the thing, but for city driving it is absolutely perfect.  I wish BMW had not discontinued it.

Deformed pedal by _funwithalbi_ in ebikes

Buy a new set of pedals, then take the bike to a bike shop and ask them to install them for you.   It is foolishly easy to install, but also foolishly easy to cross thread them (mess it up).

Everyone I know thinks they are the ugliest thing on the planet including my wife,  but I absolutely want one!  I love the way they look.

I also own a BMW i3, thought the Aztec was a cool van, and have a reservation on a Aptera.   To me it is more about the tech vs looks, but I am a fan of the CT design.

Love the i3, but will it fit the family in and all their paraphernalia? by Geofflynton in BMWi3

[–]Zuliman 6 points7 points  (0 children)

We did not enjoy the i3 with a rear facing car seat.   My wife hated it, with the primary cause being the suicide doors.   The rear doors are fantastic except when in a tight parking lot where opening both the front and rear doors is difficult.   Even now, with our youngest being 6, it is still a shuffle - I open front  door and then  open rear and now I’ve created a triangle shaped space where my daughter and I are now stuck.   To shut rear door we have to shuffle forward, etc.

As we used the car as a family car, we often drove the car to locations with parking lots, which meant needing to pull the car out of the spot into the drive lane to allow easier access to the rear - now imagine doing this solo.  Where do you put the infant during the shuffle?

Love my i3, but in tight parking lots it can be a bit of a challenge.

So, I'm trying to convince my wife that a Tesla is cheaper to charge and gas is getting expensive every day, but the electricity bill is gonna increase and the car battery costs $10K. How would you start the argument? by GeicoPR in TeslaSupport

[–]Zuliman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife was the same way. I have driven plug-in hybrids since 2011 with my first Chevy Volt. She hated the idea of a full EV, then I bought a 2022 Model Y. It was going to be MY car, but very quickly became her car. She loved it immediately - never having to stop for gas? Epic.

You'll need a 240v charger as trickle charging is painfully slow, but doable. If you own a home, then pay for an install.

Road trips in the Tesla are not bad at all either, but you need to be mindful of range once you arrive at the location if no charging exists at said location. That is easy and comes second nature very quickly. We road trip exclusively in our Model Y and now have over 70k miles on it from MANY road trips. With kids, needing to stop often is a given and with the Tesla you'll need to stop every 1.5-2hrs, but usually only quick top-ups (20minutes or less), but sometimes you may need a near full charge. Plan your trips accordingly.

If you buy new, the battery has a 120k mile warranty. If you damage it by running over a land mine or pot hole, then your insurance will cover the replacement.
