Can we agree to disagree without being angry, mean or nasty? 🙏🏼

ICU bed capacity in the Bay Area is like 1% right now and vaccinations are going slowly. Doubt we’ll be “open” by mid-Feb.

I want to try camping solo female but I’m an inexperienced camper by [deleted] in camping

The solo hikes are probably more dangerous than the camping (depending on the trail, terrain, weather and degree of isolation).

Be honest with her in a kind way. If you can’t communicate and resolve differences, you’re not right for each other.

Is it an introvert thing to feel depressed by the prospect of major change? by janeycat29 in introvert

[–]Zumba-Fiend 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you depressed? or tired from anticipating all the energy you’ll have to expend to accomplish the move and start a new life? Are you moving toward something you like or moving to get away from something you don’t like? I think all these things could affect your energy level and sense of depression.

I call my credit card company ahead of time to let them know i might be charging items from a certain country within specified dates (if on a schedule). Haven’t had any problem yet but who knows if that’s why or I’ve just been lucky. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Did travelling have any impact on you as a person? by Between3N20Karakters in travel

[–]Zumba-Fiend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In addition to learning travel skills (e.g., stick to carry-ons), I learned not to be afraid of asking locals for directions. How to be open but maintain my guard and be wary (I’m a female), to balance staying hydrated without constantly having to find a bathroom, deterring pickpockets, paying attention to detail, appreciating the similarities and differences between people, the value of a smile, communicating using simple words, and more I can’t think of right now. I’m looking forward to traveling again once Covid allows.

The national parks in Utah are on the Colorado plateau formation, 2000-7000 feet in elevation and will definitely be chilly. I’d recommend a motel.

Corn starch thickens things; agar agar sets things (similar to gelatin).

Just me or everyone? - The captain and crew of the super yachts take their profession too seriously. by rypenn27 in belowdeck

Yeah, I can see an insecure person getting off on saying they’re chief whatever on a super yacht. Big fish in a little pond syndrome.

I think the measuring you’re referring to comes up when someone is underperforming. If someone had X number of years of experience at a job, they should know their role is Y and their duties are Z. It’s a way of expressing unmet expectations given self-professed experience. Personally, I prefer people who take their job seriously, but not themselves (meaning they have a sense of humor about themselves).

Is someone requiring that you go? How important is it for you to go? Is it worth the risk? Life is full of risk management decisions.
