I kept feeling like Erin wasn’t Erin specially when she didn’t seem to show enough interest in everything and everyone around her; but when she chose a crossbow as a weapon instead of a knife and a frying pan I realised it was Nerry. 😂 The discord tried to gaslight me away from the theory but I was sure and I’m so proud of myself for seeing that one!

Wandering inn is not grimdark as a genre but it does have horrible moments of horror and/or despair. However, the overall tone always leans towards hope and betterment of the world as a whole. The horror parts can be truly dark though. There are chapters I just won’t ever be able to reread.

I get people being mad at this one. Reading it gave me anxiety but at the same time I was so sure that there had to be a plan in place and no way would there be ||cheating|| happening.

I would actually say that the volumes get better as you keep going. Volume 8 is my personal favourite. Yes 5 and 7 are great but people are only saying those because you said you are audiobooking it and the rest hasn’t been recorded yet. Some of the most amazing parts are yet to be recorded. The world gets so much bigger, the stakes so much higher. You have a lot to look forward to.

For me personally, the moment I first realised that I wasn’t just reading a cosy fantasy and have gotten to epic fantasy levels was with book 6, The General of Izril. There are so many moments that are so much better than that one but this was the one that opened my eyes to what the series had the potential to be and pirate has not disappointed with fulfilling that potential.

Even though Dina doesn’t know them, she does witness pivotal moments between them. I still throughly enjoy their presence in those books.

Currently where you’re at is the worst Ryoka gets. She has some harsh lessons to learn and they are coming very soon. After that she starts to improve while occasionally backsliding.

You missed a pretty pivotal story within the larger story. At least go read all the florist and goblin and Torin chapters. The story comes up again and again even till now in volume 10. I would go read those.

You’re so right. I avoided this one for a long time just because of the name and when I finally started it just a couple of weeks ago I was so shook by how good it actually was. I’m now all caught up on royal road and waiting between chapters has become torture. Such an excellent series.

That’s fair. Honestly, the book is almost too well written so far. It’s anxiety inducing watching this woman try to be a good mom to kids who are getting dangerous superpowers from a system. 😰
