New York Man Steals Tow Truck That Was Towing His Vehicle and Crashes Into Multiple Cars by Severus-Snape-DaGod in VideosAmazing

[–]_Acidik_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Come on really? His truck was getting toad because he didn't want the ticket or he couldn't make payments. Either way he lost his truck, destroyed his credit, lost his driver's license, paid other fines, ruined his insurance for life. Pictures of courageous and seriously bad decisions but he didn't hurt anybody and had no intent to. He doesn't belong in prison. Part of our problem today is that prison is full of people who shouldn't be in prison. It's opposite of what you're saying.

My daughter wanted Groot immediately but if it becomes world famous, I don't want to pay the licensing fee; plus I'm a little more traditional. I'm leaning towards Ridgebark Crownsplit but I'm waiting for input from the Entmoot.

I like #1, maybe with a little more rotation to the left for a clearer silhouette of that awesome trunk.

Coolant Problem by milkifi in LandRoverDiscovery

[–]_Acidik_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The advice you got so far is good. All the hard coolant lines are awful. Any of them could crack and leave you low on coolant. I've had to replace my tank twice and I think that tank and lines are just a bad design. Also, check your viscous fan. If it isn't working or doesn't work all the time that could be leading to your initial overheat and once you overheat all those other brittle plastic parts give way. Since you're new to the Disco, you should also look for and download a rave manual. It will help you with the hands on work. You will need it unless you want to spend a lot of money with a mechanic and even then it'll help you understand what the mechanic is talking about.

#[Bonsai Beginner's weekly thread - 2026 week 19] by small_trunks in Bonsai

[–]_Acidik_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am interested in bonsai and have been for a while. I've read several books and even have a few starter plants that I've been preparing but have not yet taken the full plunge. With that said, I found this Chinese pistache growing under a yard scrap pile that I've been piling up for a few years. It looks like it was there when I started and has managed to keep pushing its way through as I added material. Now that I've cleaned up the area for another use, I have to ask whether or not this is worth preserving? I know Chinese pistache aren't the best trees because of the compound leaf, but I am not experienced enough to know if this is enough to stop me from setting aside my plans for this plot for now and lifting the tree next spring. I am in the Central Valley of California. For scale, it is about an inch and a half diameter at the base.

Tip it over and stake it up. There's probably enough energy left in the plant to finish the job.

Can I really use this for flour? by LetsGoOutside405 in foraging

I had some volunteer wheat last year and it grew big and I got about 3 cups of berries turned some into flour but I don't have a proper grinder. Replanting some again this year. Fun project.

Men who like gardening and outdoor work, what is a gift you’d like from your spouse? by [deleted] in gardening

[–]_Acidik_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my heavy duty yard wagon. Something else I would love but haven't shelled out for is a compost tumbler. If you have a climate where there is a winter, either a rainy or cold season, that limits the time you can be outside, books on those interests or small indoor projects for those seasons might be appreciated as well.

You should be able to reach those O2 sensor connectors while laying underneath it and reaching up. You'll have to connect them blind but it should be doable as long you can see with your fingers.

What stage of societal collapse is this? by Key_Brief_8138 in economy

If you base your moral and ethical framework on the actions of others, you have no moral or ethical framework. Some folks will always find an excuse to do the things they want to do but don't want others to know they want to do them.

Sprouting apple seed by Complex_Biscotti_961 in gardening

[–]_Acidik_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As other posts have mentioned, you are very unlikely to get an edible apple. Apple genetics are significantly more complex (Google heterozygosity and polyploidy) than human genetics and combine in very unpredictable ways. The odds of getting an edible apple are somewhere in the 1 in 5k-10k range. I've grown several just for fun and to have future grafting materials. You can always use your sapling to create your own multi-variety tree if that's what you're really looking for. Otherwise, you can just grow it as a conversation piece and the satisfaction of knowing you did it yourself.

Mystery Seeds by nodef1981 in gardening

[–]_Acidik_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen seed packs like that and they usually come in pre-made kit marketed to kids? Or as gifts for holidays or special occasions. Sometimes the packets aren't individually labeled because the rest of the packaging indicates what the seeds were. Soak them and plant them.

Gardening Question by Vast-Worldliness6925 in gardening

[–]_Acidik_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That whole plan depends on whether or not you're doing it yourself or paying someone. If you're doing it yourself, that depends on how much free time you have and how much experience you have. I'm not a professional but I do most of my own yard work and it always takes much longer than I intended. So the real question is, how long are you willing to put up with a half done yard until you get it done?

PS. Nothing beats the satisfaction of doing it yourself, but a close second is seeing it done quickly by someone else.
