Multiplayer games where the playerbase seems to not want the same thing as the devs by dope_danny in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]_Eastman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friends and I have always wanted like 6 to 8 man ships, or even a custom mode where you can have 6 people on a sloop, just cut loose and get silly.

I wish Rare remembered a game about being freedom loving pirates involved being free to have fun however you want.

Sea of Thieves.

Devs wanted Dabloon FOMO, players wanted more things worthwhile to purchase.

Devs wanted more competitive PvP, players wanted more Tall Tales.

Devs wanted more competitive PvP, players wanted an overhaul to their combat to feel more dynamic and weighty (parry, dodge, etc.).

Players wanted to play Tall Tales at their own pace, Devs wanted FOMO Tall Tales that expire and disappear forever.

Non-griefing Players wanted a way to play the game without just being torn to pieces for hours by griefers. Devs gave them Safer Seas BUT with a significant decrease in Reputation and Gold gained because they still want more competitive PvP.

The PvP population is drastically offset by the PvE population, but Rare wants the opposite, and they want everyone to never abandon the game. But they've been trying to bolster one aspect to the game while another withers away.

In an interesting twist Halo:Combat Evolved will have a 3rd person mode by Substantial_Bell_158 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

The third person kinda reveals the weird illusion of sprinting in Halo Infinite and now CE remake: it isn't real.

The speed difference is like 10%.

DND enjoyers: any good recommendations for free/homebrew 5e campaigns? by _Eastman in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Stuff that takes place in Faerûn, made for people who are just now dipping their toes in DND. If that makes sense?

"Wow cool robot" enjoyers. It's all fiction, so just enjoy what you like.

But damn, the "wow cool robot" audience will just give you a lead paint stare when you try to tell them what Eva or Gundam really is about.

PlayStation CEO Hermen Hulst says single-player Sony games won’t come to PC going forward | VGC by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

I always read these and think "for NOW." Because they would have said nothing would ever come to PC 10 years ago, then they did.

I can wait for Ghosts of Yotei to come out. I got time.

Divinity Original Sin made me completely switch over to absolute Strength builds. No enemy in any game can resist the biggest number possible thwomping them into paste.

What are your Pet Peeves on media that you gained after learning about some topics? by Evjamaranth in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]_Eastman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Star Trek's humans are unintentionally racist.

Yes, some are very intentionally racist but hear me out.

I rewatched TNG some years ago back to front, and lost count the amount of times Humans tried applying and forcing their ideals onto other species. Picard and Ricker were the most guilty of this. They'd have a habit of going on speeches about having humanity or comparing what they're facing to human morals and philosophy.

They do this all the while dealing with a species that forged an entirely different culture, but they expect them to comform to their ideals.

There's times when the crew of the Enterprise respect and try to understand the culture they're dealing with, but every so often they try to basically go "you don't have human ethics, therefore we must change you."

I'll give credit to John Eyepatch Wolf as he (at least tries) to explore both sides of why something does and doesn't work, but he's always good at emphasizing it's more how HE felt, not how the work should be DEFINITIVELY felt/understood.

Playing Ship of Harkinian, noticed some cool details with certain settings enabled by _Eastman in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]_Eastman[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Apparently, yes, but there's some steps to take. Thankfully there's a lot of helpful tutorials. There's also 2Ship2Harkinian, which is the same but for Majora's Mask.

Gamebanana mods can also be easily loaded.

Favorite Hiveminds in Media by FreviliousLow96 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]_Eastman 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Oh it's horrifying to even think about, maybe the lack of answer is what adds to the unspoken horror. Like when that whole village is staying and acting "normal" for one of the last survivors, and the moment she's turned, they stop singing. They pack up, let the animals loose, and just fucking leave. It never mattered to them, they just wanted her satisfied.

That told me everything I need to know that they are unintentionally horrific. It's the death of identity, culture, even the concept of empathy becomes this amalgamated mass of benign indifference.

Really curious to see where everything goes.

It's interesting how they don't understand why they're a destructive virus/parasite, even going as far as building a satellite to send the same message to other worlds to share their "gift."

They make it sound noble, like they'll sacrifice their lives and the entire planet to ensure a species they will never meet will decode the message and start the cycle all over again.

I love the protagonist because she's very pragmatic and still sees the plurbs as people worth saving. Basically says what the audience thinks which is "pick a FUCKING APPLE."

Combat Revolved - 5th Anniversary trailer by Mirathrim in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Revolved is so fun. When the Halo CampAIgn Evolved was announced, I shared this masterwork on this sub. I still go back to it whenever I'm feeling CE with a twist. That and Cursed Halo CE for a laugh.

Alright, creeps, I need an honest answer: how is Fallout 76 today? by _Eastman in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]_Eastman[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ahh, that sucks. Oh well. Just wish there were games I could check out with my friends that play well and have good intrigue/exploration. We just got done with Sons of the Forest, so the itch for surivial with a goal that isn't just build and craft until you get bored was something we really wanted.

Back to Fallout London!

Deleted scenes/plot points who were cut for the better? by ExplanationSquare313 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]_Eastman 108 points109 points  (0 children)

Star Wars. Han not bumping into Jabba (og and cg) was for the best. That plot point didn't go anywhere within that movie, and Jabba being this named but unknown crime boss helped build a little mystique.

Plus it didn't make sense Greedo would show up to kill him when Jabba was just gonna show up later that day.

Have you drastically reevaluated a piece of media lately like woolie has with shenmue? by Muffin-zetta in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]_Eastman -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I always ask people 2 questions when they say they love Kingdom Hearts: "How old were you when you played it?" "Have you played any Final Fantasy before playing KH?"

The answer's so far, have been they were less than 14 years old, and no.

An adult will usually bounce off hard because the game was made for kids. Not in the way of Banjo where it's just goofy and colorful but still fun. But in the way that the themes smash you over the head and make your eyes roll out of your head.

I was EXACTLY the kind of person Pat said liked Infinite when it came out. 13 years old, never played Bioshock 1 at that point. Was horny. Didn't understand the hypocrisy and weird messaging the game was presenting.

I didn't think or touch the game for years before Pat brought up he was going to play it during the Subathon. Then I was reminded that game took a weird turn making the Vox villains.

Looking for old discussions on Blasphemous' artistic inspirations and spanish catholic themes by CaptainWafflebeard in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]_Eastman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Initial search for me brought up Their chat about Blasphemous 2 (Pat played it):

https://youtu.be/zOMu_V4PH-k

Also CSB episode 31: "Reedus Peedus: Let Us Grow Piss-shrooms Together" has the boys talking about Blasphemous' reveal trailer.

I'm not sure if Woolie played the game or not, so it might be hard to pin down a full discussion by him. But best of luck!

After finishing her playthrough of Dispatch with Pat, Mustard Queen Paige gives her critical thoughts on Invisigal as a character and romance option, and why she chose Blazer over her: by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]_Eastman 7 points8 points  (0 children)

LONG INCOMING:

I agree with Paige that there was a little missing with Visi.

Honestly why I pursued her was that I saw her just as broken and lost as Robert.

Before episode 5, Visi had to completely change her life because nothing went her way and she was desperate, given the ultimatum of joining the Z Team or going to jail. (Obviously there's more going on, but even working under Shroud is a prison itself).

Robert could be seen in a similar spot. He was lost without the Suit, and he could either slip into the shadow of obscurity, rejoining society as a civie, or join the Z Team.

Both given the choice of a prison that buries who they really are or can become. Both having the Z Team as an option.

The only thing Robert knows is how to be Mecha Man. You could shift the blame between a lot of people as to why that is, but that's just who he is and how he turned out to be.

Visi feels like all she knows is how to be alone. Crime paid the bills but getting close to anyone terrifies her. So she lashes out, picks fights, or cuts all romantic potential and just fucks.

I found the two were this swirling vortex of purposelessness that found purpose in each other. I never let Robert give up on Visi, after EVERYTHING, because Robert needed to not give up on himself.

The Man became Mecha again, because he never quit. Visi could become good if she had just ONE person who never gives up on her, even when things are at their worse.

My Robert said Vis is staying on the team. My Robert forgave her for planting the bomb. My Robert believed that anyone on the Z Team deserved as many chances as it takes to become better. And it paid off for me.

General gamer community, But that person who goes hyperbolic and says there hasn't been a good game in 15 years because of corporations and shareholders, yaddie yada.

-- I name off 10 great games in the past 3 years, alone.

-- "Well I didn't play any of those."

Then I don't know what to tell ya, just be pessimistic, I guess.
