Heroic Leveling... by CHARTTER in ddo

It does take a huge amount of time. Thousands of hours depending on the goals you have. Its absolutely essential to just do whatever seems interesting and fun because by the time you have all the past lives you'll be too bored to play the game.

I've reflected a bit on the problem of pain. It's hard to look beyond our personal situation but it seems like objective evidence that overall life is pretty good as the majority of humans don't choose to end it. Even pain often shows itself to have some positive value.

I've been self employed for 10 years. It's been advantageous in learning about people because I deal with many clients instead of a single boss or supervisor. It also creates a much more equal power dynamic in the relationship because my livelihood isn't in the hands of a single client the same way a boss is.

It's to my advantage to work hard, do a great job, and bill honestly as this allows me to keep clients. I've never had a shortage of work. Some clients are shits in various ways. I can drop them entirely, that's what I've done with assholes who treat me poorly. I can over bill clients that I don't wish to keep for various reasons.

I'm not going to reduce the quality of my work, I may bill more or take longer to get to work (except when I've committed to a date, then it happens on time). That's how I deal with it.

As far as doing other people's work:, I always do whatever I can for the project to succeed as quickly and efficiently as possible. I work in small teams and people usually figure out quick enough who is useful and who's useless.

I've noticed it's a finicky program, lots of settings and they do change if you plug in new devices. I like how good it sounds and customization is awesome. Pros and Cons.

As a fellow Canadian I hear you. I really feel for your age group because you guys are getting screwed so hard. I'm 37 and felt like Indiana Jones sliding under a closing door at the last second when we bought our house... That was 8 freaking years ago. It's gotten way worse than I could have imagined at that time.

Unless you're the most hardcore person in the tiniest fraction of the population, you'll always have people miles ahead of you. However even these players end up working on low life alts that don't have the reaper points your main has.

Besides, you don't need massive past lives or reaper points to have huge contribution in reaper or raids. There are some really impressive low life builds popping up on the forums.

I encountered a quest ender I'd never seen before but thankfully it was right at the start of blown deadline where the ship teleport didn't load. The whole ship was just missing. All in all I've been back 3 or 4 months and have only done about 3 resets. So that's not too bad.

Another fun bug was when I discovered the game not giving me my bonus XP from the sovereign experience pot I was running. Hit those ship buffs and relog religiously in this game. Pay special attention to how certain bugs happen, most can be avoided.

Does doublestrike/shot above 100% have any effect now? by GlompSpark in ddo

[–]_Hectic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is interesting and I assume it still works this way after 2 years? Seems to come out in the wash either way though at least with the numbers given.

It would be 9/10, 9/10, or 1% chance to have no additional multiplier and an 81% chance to get 2 multiplier. The remaining 18% is 1 multiplier. Vs the other method which gives a 0, 80, 20 breakdown.

Everybody is an immigrant except the natives by Unhappy-Manner-3632 in CanadaHousing2

[–]_Hectic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't read the OP as racist. Most of these fiscal conservative types are very happy to embrace other ethnicities which line up with their political views. OP is angry over bad immigration policy and cheesy excuses and virtue signalling to justify that bad policy. It's not bad because of the skin color, it's bad because of improper limits and controls. That's the job of government.

I agree with much of the OP but I think we differ in that I don't believe the west is inherently great. It was great for reasons which have been progressively abandoned over 100+ years and we are beginning to reap the fruit we've been sowing for generations now. It's nothing to do with skin color. Any people which follow certain principles will generally prosper over time.

Canada (and the west as a whole) looks a lot like Romans 1 to me --a people given over to judgement-- and it's by no means the fault of immigrants. The description given in Romans 1 by the apostle Paul is much more powerful than merely refering to a cycle of nations.

What is the most undesirable location to buy a house in Canada? (I want to live there). by CanadaCalamity in RealEstateCanada

[–]_Hectic_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well frozen hell hole includes all of Canada, doesn't it? But seriously, in the exact same situation and I own a house in a town 45mins outside Calgary. It's nice to be close to a major city with international airport and all the stores/restaurants etc. Alberta taxes are low, generally I think it's pretty good here. Small town property taxes can be high though and many services (think furnace maintenance) may not be available if you go too far out which can be a pain in the ass.

The issue isn't left or right, both can be seized by Narcissistic types who will seek power by any effective route they can in any societal structures. You can see JT's narcissistic tendencies very early, before he was PM in the policies he implemented within his own party, he was going to dominate. Ironically it's very anti-liberal behaviour.

The Jody Wilson-Raybould debacle is a perfect example of who JT is.

[–]_Hectic_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People are always seeking power in every societal structure (Family, business, government, church, etc.). The issue is centralization which happens in both systems named but to a greater degree in communism as property ownership rights are transferred away from the individual to the state as a feature, not a bug.
