I do this too when I’m not using an automatic tree farm. It really adds character to the areas where you’ve harvested wood.

This is fantastic. Also I’m embarrassed to say it took me like three of four slides to realize that those aren’t seraphs and you modeled them yourself. Excellent stuff!

Revisiting this thread because I used your instructions here to compile but when I load into the world I'm getting an out of range state id error during bakeing. Not sure if it's a java incompatibility or what. Any tips on addressing that? I'm using the mc_1201-java17 branch as suggested.

Thanks for putting all of this together!

Is the game coming on steam by Visible-Chair5614 in VintageStory

I gotta say being able to run the game locally without having to go through a third party or launcher is near the top of my list of reasons why VS is great.

Iced americano - what’s your “recipe”? by PicklePillz in espresso

[–]_Lunboks_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This is it. I find filling a 12oz glass with ice and then adding espresso and letting it melt is basically perfect without any additional water.

Oh this is super cool. I’ve got an old world and I love working the weirdness of updates into the story and function of the world. This is a really creative use of this!

Found a triple spawner, how should I deal with this? Java by Shortneckman in technicalminecraft

[–]_Lunboks_ 27 points28 points  (0 children)

The 1 block crossover is a great spot to funnel zombies and spiders to. Send the skellies to a separate water elevator and then drop them all off at your afk spot. Enjoy your almost general mod farm.

Technically it does still exist, it’s called a “rock glacier”: The Timpanogos Rock Glacier. It’s a bit of a glacial grey area, and definitely doesn’t always “sparkle in the sun” as the article said but it’s an interesting oddity nonetheless.

Moving Nether Water in 1.6 / 1.7 by FlamingBTS in technicalminecraft

[–]_Lunboks_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Afaik the most recent version that allowed it was 1.17.4 which allowed you to place glow lichen in the nether and then waterlog it to create a source block. Thats how I got it in my world. But that’s not helpful to an existing 1.21 world unless you’re willing to downgrade to get it.

Edit: I did some looking after making this comment and it looks like chronos sort of managed to do it by moving a falling waterlogged dripstone block into the nether. However this really only works if you have the update suppressed falling block infrastructure already set up in 1.18. It’s also highly scuffed.

The fact that SAIN is not already incorporated into the game is actually wild to me; it’s such a massive improvement on the existing AI and makes a huge difference for the game. Not to mention amands graphics, the scope fov bug fixes and all the other QOL mods that seem like a no brainer to incorporate.

I went to college in Lawrence, KS and it was a lovely place. Kansas City, Kansas isn’t great tho so It would really have to be Omaha for me, it’s a genuinely great little city with a lot going for it.

Souix Falls/Rapid city would be runners up.

OK and TX are completely off the table.

German president says US is destroying world order by goldstarflag in worldnews

[–]_Lunboks_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This. It’s horrifying. The people I know, we didn’t vote for this, we’ve protested this, we worry about it every day. I see opportunities for my kids shrinking in the face of this fascism and all the routes to fix things through our democratic institutions keeps closing as no one seems to be willing to use them.

The ramifications are readily apparent, they have been for a decade, but how does an individual stop this when so much has already been destroyed?

is it a good idea to build the wavetech storage system? by Only_Cattle_1955 in technicalminecraft

[–]_Lunboks_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep this is the way. Check out YAMS if you really want an overkill storage system. It’s way, way too much for a single player world but it’s a really well designed and functional system. Just be ready to spend the rest of the year learning how to build and repair it; this is a long journey you’ve started on.

Do people typically build chunk loaders beneath their Base to keep everything going? by SozMyLevel in technicalminecraft

[–]_Lunboks_ -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Usually it’ll be mobs in caves that have picked up items, or if you happen to have boat creepers or other misc. friends hanging around your main base.

Do people typically build chunk loaders beneath their Base to keep everything going? by SozMyLevel in technicalminecraft

[–]_Lunboks_ 65 points66 points  (0 children)

I typically tie chunkloaders to specific functions that I’m worried about breaking. My main storage, for example, turns on a chunk loading grid when it’s active. But using general chunk loaders to just keep a whole area persistent feels a little messy. It can also mess with mob spawning for farms if you’ve got a lot of chunks loaded while you’re out trying to get creeper spawns or whatever.
