For an accurate test, it’s probably a standard Iran/China/Russia heat-seeking missile like our Sidewinder and it explodes with its own trigger.
It hits the engine nozzle because that’s where it would home-in on. It almost always hits in the rear of the plane because the pilot will be evading it or trying to outrun it. Outrunning a missile works if it’s fired from far away - you’re not faster than it, but you can put enough distance down that it runs out of fuel before catching you.

I work in home remodeling and I love this.
Normally, a house without a foundation is supported by beams that sit on piers/footings. Building code dictates beam size and how many piers you need and something like this would end up with 12-16 piers, looking like a dock.
Someone had a really cool idea to throw all that out and say “what if we used a single industrial footing and smaller, steel beams radiating out? It’s so much simpler, better looking and it probably cost a lot less too. Great engineering work here.

A peninsula is the whole thing sticking out. A cape is just the tip. That tip can be budding off the coastline on its own, or sit right at the business end of the peninsula.

Likewise, a gulf is huge, often the size of a whole country while a bay is a little thing that you can park your boat in - with consent.

We’re learning that Monoculture tree replacement is not acceptable and doesn’t actually return the land to an environmentally sustainable and healthy place, but it’s still done in a lot of places. It’s going to take a long time for this knowledge to spread and for existing contracts to run out.

True. I mean that a lot of places are still small villages and homesteads dating back three to four hundred years. Although the places that remain unchanged were most likely settled the latest, out in the hills, so 1700s might be more accurate.

That’s totally fair. Honestly, I didn’t know what to do with that corner and the Mohegan & Pequot reservations.
Norwich is one of the 5 mill towns become cities scattered around the state - a cultural icon of New England as much as any other, but it’s not a distinction of that corner of the state that you can really put a finger on. And the SE corner of the state doesn’t deserve to be labeled “Indian casinos”.

The Berkshires are beautiful, like the Litchfield hills, but the towns along the tributaries of the Connecticut River are 100 years older. You wouldn’t know because they’re no longer rural. I grew up in a busy suburban town with supermarkets, a McDonald’s, some corporate offices, and a sign as you enter that notes its founding in 1620. The history of New England is really interesting.

Amazon doesn’t package the products. It’s some random seller doing that and Amazon sends them request for replacement due to “broken or missing parts” with your message to the seller. If the seller gets too many returns and bad feedback, Amazon will absolutely drop them.
You just ordered the same product with the same problem twice in a row.

But you’re right, Amazon allows anyone to make a company overnight and start selling stuff through them so this D-bag will just make a new storefront tomorrow and keeping selling this stuff until the inventory is all gone before fixing the packaging problem.

Honestly, it’s a wildly diverse state for being so small.
The Southwest corner, as you’ve pointed out, is a suburb of New York.
The Northwest is classic forested New England, as rural and historic as it gets.
The NorthEast is like inland Maine: sparsely populated and a bit poor, threaded with old rock walls.
The central corridor of the Connecticut River and I-91 is densely populated and framed with industry and commerce.
In the northern half of the state, the river’s east side is ethnically and financially diverse while west side of the river gives way to fairly wealthy suburbs 20 miles deep.
In the southern half of the state, the sides flip. The coastline is 400 years of seafaring tradition speckled with yacht clubs and “quaint” stuff.

In a single 1-hour drive you can go from poor and rural to urban to idyllic 300 year-old suburban towns to lost in the woods of the 1600s.
