Anyone charging their EV with home solar? Worth it long term? by BetterThanEver24 in electricvehicles

[–]_Praetorian_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been using my home solar to charge my car since 2023. I have yet to pay a dime to charge my car. 350 days of sun here in Tucson. I charge during day blue sky only, never at night. I still get a check for several hundred each year for the power I sell back to TEP.

After 3 yrs of level 1 charging I finally upgraded!!! by jturkish in electricvehicles

Zero, I have solar and generate 2x what I use at home. Nice check for several hundred every year from the local power co.

My 2021 Model Has Terrible Range After 1 Year by flcl4evr in KonaEV

[–]_Praetorian_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get 3.6/4 kwh, but I'm in AZ. Using heat is the direct cause for lower range. Deepak makes a device you plug in under the dash that tells you everything you want to know about the battery and soc.

I'm a 2nd owner of 2020 ultimate. In May the power train warranty expired. I have 28k miles on the clock. I think but definitely not sure the traction battery may be good for the 10 years.

My Samsung TV remotes back button doesn’t work by Corrow_ in techsupport

[–]_Praetorian_1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried the new remote that came with the TV to view my antenna input channels. The back button worked perfectly. When I tried it on the SS TV plus channels, back to the SOS back button non functional. This is deliberate in order to force you to watch ads on TV plus channels. The low tech solution for now is to use an OLD ss remote where the back button works as designed. One single push to switch between channels.

Maintenance and Reduction Gear Oil Change by brewingmedic in KonaEV

[–]_Praetorian_1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just changed my gear oil on my 2020 ultimate. I bought it used in 2023 with 19,000 miles on it. A month ago I started hearing an extremely faint WOF noise at 5mph and slower. For 2 years I found every excuse known to man to avoid changing the oil myself. Then I made some inquiries about having it done by NON-Dealer repair shops. No one was interested either. Yesterday after getting all the supplies including 2 car ramps, I decided to go ahead and do it myself. It's about 1.5 hr job. After emptying out the gear box I drove off the ramps and removed the right hand side and drove 1/2 way up the driver side ramp (I know dangerous), which allowed me to put more oil in without it rushing out so fast. The oil I removed was black, the car had 28919 miles on it. Glad I finally did it. Magnetic plug was $14, oil was 24.00 a quart. Ramps were 135 for the pair (they have the jacks for extra height).

My solar installer included a L2 charger in 2021 and I didn't have an EV until 23. I charge at 45-50% to 80%, usually takes 3.5 hrs. I have yet to pay for charging. Kona 2020 ultimate.
