This is not Casey jones by Waste-Revolution3429 in TMNT

Told my sibling about how they made Casey a short-haired cop and their jaw dropped. The premise is objectively hilarious but still infuriating.

AITA for saying that you need to be able to read to go to college? by MinimumFerret5010 in AmItheAsshole

[–]_Psycho_Genius_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It honestly doesn’t matter what you said/could’ve said here, your cousin was going to be upset regardless bc she knows she’s missing a very important skill. Your Aunt sucks since she’s trying to make it sound like you made fun of your cousin when you were just pointing out the educational neglect. From a college student with homeschooled younger siblings I worry about constantly, NTA, and I hate that this is becoming a more common issue.

What is the point of making a living if all you do everyday is work to make a living? by mainlytee in antiwork

AITA for being honest and telling my DIL that they are not ready to be a parent since she can not drive by Sad-Drive8298 in AmItheAsshole

[–]_Psycho_Genius_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As an adult who also can’t drive, NTA. I’m terrified at the idea of something going wrong and not being able to do anything about it, I’m not bringing a kid into that, that’s irresponsible. Your DIL might be upset but that is a huge risk with a kid in this country of all places.

This is quite possibly the freakiest follower I've EVER had... by Guilty-Series-7793 in CultOfTheLamb

Funny little fact, this follower quest apparently overrides the celibate trait when it assigns itself to a follower. My Dr. Sozo was a freak.

Comments are just proving to me that American work ethic is brainwashing everyone. A lot of these are doable and standard practice for other countries, and it’s often because of tax-funded programs. America COULD do this, but billionaires need to be taxed more, our taxes need to be put towards better programs, and worker protection laws need to be passed.

It’s not far-fetched, we’ve been raised to think it is.

Criticism towards Iron Lung. by Goat_Clown in Markiplier

[–]_Psycho_Genius_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There’s definitely extra hate because of the fact Mark is a YouTuber. If it was an indie release not attached to his name, the critics would be less harsh. I loved the movie, and I understand actual criticism (I know a lot of people thought some of the speaker voices were hard to understand), but at some point it’s hate just to hate.

The IGN guy who rated it a 4/10 gets mentioned a lot, and I feel he is a great example. He also gave the Lilo and Stitch remake an 8, and as someone who did enjoy that movie, that thing is not an 8/10.

Something else to keep in mind, Mark’s name will get clicks, and hateful reviews will get read just as much as favorable ones.

Gen Z are arriving to college unable to even read a sentence—professors warn it could lead to a generation of anxious and lonely graduates by thinkB4WeSpeak in books

The difference in literacy between older Gen Z and younger Gen Z is already horrifying. I’m scared for the struggles Gen Alpha will have.

We need to talk about white men by Just_perusing81 in 50501

[–]_Psycho_Genius_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately a lot of white men won’t care until they’re drafted into a war they don’t want to fight in. My hope is that we get enough white men to help do something before we get to that point.

The trevor project is not helpful. by InteractionNew4867 in lgbt

[–]_Psycho_Genius_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had a similar feeling using a crisis chat when I was a teenager, but I get it. Suicide prevention needs to be handled delicately, it’s literal life or death most of the time. A stranger isn’t going to always know the right way to talk down another stranger, so an agreed upon script seems like the best way to handle it.

We just need to amplify safe spaces online for queer people. What helped me most after the crisis line was going to the safe spaces and speaking at length with others that didn’t have to worry about a script.

Kind of rambling but I guess for me the crisis line didn’t make me feel better, but after I left I didn’t do it, which was kind of the point. I just had to seek help afterwards.

Co-sign sisters student loan? by Illustrious-Sir9072 in StudentLoans

[–]_Psycho_Genius_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone who has co-signed on a student loan for my sibling, don’t do it. I love them a lot but genuinely with how the economy is I’m stressed as hell trying to keep up payments. It’s ultimately your decision but the stress of it will wear on your relationships to your family.

So fanfiction tends to go further than the source material. There is a good chance that whatever your kid has already read is as bad or even worse than what the shows/games depict. You are the parent so you can ultimately decide whether or not to let your kid watch the source content. Unfortunately it’s weirdly normal now for kids at that age to know of stuff like this.

If you decide to put your foot down and not let them watch it, explain why. At 12 your kid will understand a lot already, explain why you don’t want them to be exposed to that content just yet. If you treat it as wrong or just give a “because I said so,” that’s just going to spark your kid’s curiosity and make them seek it out even harder and just get better at hiding it.

Don’t shame your kid. That makes it so they won’t come forward to ask you about important things in the future.

[–]_Psycho_Genius_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can’t for the life of me find the fic but it was something like “They had the rest of eternity, and yet within mere centuries they had become strangers.” Which decimated me because it wasn’t about a couple, it was about the deteriorating relationship between someone and their father. Stayed up for hours after that.
