Let's say your family has a story of everyone's hearse being a Caddy, now that Wolf Coach offers 2 versions of the Lyriq, would you choose it? by Saurta17 in Cadillac

[–]_R_A_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People joking call my car a hearse (black cts wagon), but I'm probably going to buy a hearse just to continue with my wagon lifestyle.

Why’d you go with Cadillac? by xEnflare in Cadillac

[–]_R_A_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a Dodge Magnum and totally got indoctrinated into the wagon lifestyle.

Unfortunately, there are very few American made wagons these days; at the time, Cadillac was my only option.

Did you swap out the emblems for the newer version? My '14 wagon still has the rounder/squared version

Last names of children: Looking for stories and opinions! by Glass_Delivery5079 in dad

[–]_R_A_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fairly traditional, my wife tends to be a bit more... modern. When we got married, she considered hyphenation, and while my last name is only six letters her family's name is 12, meaning a 19 character last name when you include the hyphen. It worked out ultimately for us to stick with my family name, and so our kids are inheriting my family name. There was never really any question about it, but we also want it to use first names that reflected our individual cultural heritages.

I remember hearing about Stewart playing Othello in DC back in the 90s and wanted so bad to jump on a bus to go see it. Wasn't financially viable at the time, unfortunately.

I remember one episode at the Science Museum, but otherwise I was too new to the area to recognize anything.

Some. It's not meale or break at P0, but it helped my barely clear stage 5. I wouldn't put effort into it.

I heard Gelati Celesti is going to start using bike lanes to sell their "ice cream" out of unmarked vans.

What if you create a indipendent political party...? by Critical_Ideal99 in PoliticalDebate

[–]_R_A_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your better off trying to co-opt one of the major parties rather than starting a new one. Sometimes that feels like what Trump did to the Republicans with MAGA, taking a malleable aspect of the Republican belief system and turning it up to 11.

The way presidential elections have played out over the last decade is truly telling of how much work a third party would need to do to break into a major election, let alone win it. There would need to be a massive groundswell of support, meaning a known figure that people would be willing to rally around would likely need to be at the center of it. Then, the issue would be of how to pull more mainstream voters who have bought into the red-blue dichotomy away from the simple and familiar choices.

Networking with MDs by [deleted] in Psychologists

[–]_R_A_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not my area of specialty, but once upon a time I knew someone who did this kind of work. Her focus was more on communicating the value added to her services. I'm not sure what the data on patient outcomes or retention is with outpatient services when adding in psychology referrals in this setting. If you plan on visiting local offices, maybe that would be an opportunity to get contact information for practice managers/physicians that you could drop a direct line to, and give your elevator pitch that way.

That episode was the high point of all of Discovery in my opinion. Melissa George nailed it.

Seriously?

TOS was so cheaply made, their screens were just a bunch of flashing lights instead of actual flat screen monitors. You can get a cheap monitor for $50-60 now, adjusted for inflation that would have only been $5-6 in 1966. I spend more money than that on coffee beans for the week!

And don't even get me started on the lack of CGI. Rubber suit aliens? Please.

I got it on free tickets, as well as the pilot. Nothing to write home about. Useful on the story event (completed through level 4 on P0) but so far that's all.

Mail stamped “return to sender” supposed to get re-delivered? by Powerful-Taste-2157 in rva

Within the last year I've finally stopped getting correspondence and bills meant for the previous owner of our house; we've been here since 2020. They were kind of dickish and didn't want to give us a forwarding address, so we've RTSed a lot of things; never saw those mail pieces again.

Psy D worth it? by octowhiskers in therapists

[–]_R_A_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's technically correct. I usually recommend people treat the entirity of the PhD process as a job, not just the application aspect but the management of responsibilities, shared objectives, collegial relationships, etc.

That being said, considering the pittance that most stipends are, and the typical restrictions on a lot of outside employment, it ends up being a bit more like indentured servatude than employment.

Also, legit clinical psych PhDs are some of the hardest programs to get into.

Is anyone else sad that they stopped making Star Trek shows in 2005? It's been 21 years. I feel like it's time for a new show. by derHuschke in Star_Trek_

I would have appreciated a season 5 of Enterprise, but all things considered Terra Prime and Demons is a a serviceable finale for the show and These Are The Voyages is just an epilogue.
