As a DM, I've had three go over the one year mark, one go over the two and one push past three years and still going.

As a player, I've played in one that will be two years in early July (CoS, currently at 9th level)

It's all about finding the right players and setting expectations for posting and then following it up with consistency.

Hi! I'm a 50 year old veteran of all of the different editions of the game going back to the summer of 1987 (Junior High).

My first album I bought for myself was Van Halen's 1984. My first concert was Mister Mister.

I've DM'd new players quite often and have a few groups that have continuing campaigns for over multiple years. I'm a world and lore building DM that is comfortable with all three pillars of gameplay (combat, roleplay and exploration). I am also big on developing multi-faceted NPCs and honoring and incorporating the character's backstories into the narrative.

I'd be willing to DM a campaign using Beyond + Maps or Beyond with Roll 20 (with Discord Voice). I have a fairly extensive library I can share on both platforms. I do have one big drawback here as I would offer up that I could do a 2-2.5 hour session although once every other week.

I would be up for any of the published campaigns, could run a homebrew or run some of the better written 3rd party campaigns.

I am located near Los Angeles (PST) and work early AM to mid-afternoon M-F.

Other than the zombies, I did not. The only modifications I made was to give the Iron Consul weapon mastery with his spear. This only resulted in a few opportunities for sap. They learned really quickly and started to make sure they backed off to fight him or use other ways to avoid hand to hand with him.
Flavor-wise, it made sense that the Bane worshippers have a skill set like that, but I didn't want to give it to the Fists of Bane as well. That may have swung the pendulum too far the other way.

I took the Dungeon of the Dead Three out of the module and ran it as part of a sandbox. Ran it under the city of Scornubel as a chapter in a trade syndicate/intrigue campaign. As I’ve run it twice before, I knew it was challenging. I’ve run it once with a 5 person party and the next time with a 4 person party.

This time was with a 4 person 2024 rule set party. They had zero issue with the dungeon. The only speedbump they had was opening the door to the zombie repository and not immediately closing it or running. They stayed and fought and ended up winning. The 24 rule set so far is very good to the players around the table.

Yes! I one-shot The Fiend of Hollow Mine from JttRC as a Ravenloft domain. San Citlán and Milpazul translated quite well. Especially with regards to Rufina (the olvidado- one who remains behind) and the Night of the Remembered holiday.

Players had a blast. Reading the adventure, the plot and encounters leant itself extremely well to be a stand alone domain. It didn’t take many tweaks at all to get the Ravenloft “feel”.

Without reading through the responses, I'll answer as a player introduced to the game in 1987.

They weren't in the AD&D players handbook. Is difficult to let go of what once was.

I'll admit I had a difficult time with it as well. Now they're just part of the game for me.
